Question descriptionThis assignment involves development of an Excel-based capital budgeting model and an analysis of a proposed capital budgeting project for Costco.

Prepare Capital Budgeting Model and Analysis

Describe a capital budgeting project (i.e., an investment in fixed assets) that might be undertaken by Costco. Make sure that the project has an initial investment in Year 0, followed by a series of annual cash flows for at least seven (7) years. In addition, determine the discount rate, or hurdle rate, that is appropriate for this project and explain the determination of that rate.

Develop your own Excel spreadsheet model that can be used to determine the Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Modified Internal Rate of Return (MIRR), and Profitability Index (PI).

The Excel spreadsheet that you develop must use Excel’s automated financial functions for determining the NPV, IRR,MIRR, and PI.

Following the completion of the spreadsheet analysis, explain whether, or not, the project should be implemented? Also, discuss what the various indicators (i.e., NPV, IRR, MIRR and PI) mean?

For this assignment, it is necessary to develop your own Excel spreadsheet; it needs to be submitted.

The analysis needs to include:

1.Description of Proposed Capital Budgeting Project-Describe a capital budgeting project (i.e., an investment in fixed assets) that might be undertaken by the company that you have selected. Make sure that the project has an initial investment in Year 0, followed by a series of annual cash flows for at least seven (7) years. In addition, determine the discount rate, or hurdle rate, that is appropriate for this project and explain the determination of that rate.

2.Explanation of the Excel Capital Budgeting Model-Develop your own Excel spreadsheet model that can be used to determine the Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Modified Internal Rate of Return (MIRR), and Profitability Index (PI). Explain how the model is constructed and the required inputs. Discuss the outputs of the model.

3.Explanation and Interpretation ofCapital Budgeting Criteria-Prepare a written analysis of theresults including NPV,IRR, MIRR, PI, and Profitability Analysis.

4.Recommendation About Implementation of Capital Budgeting Project–Develop and defend a recommendation about whether the proposed project should be implemented or not.

Writing Instructions

The discussion portion of the analysis should be three to five pages in length, double spaced, and should employ APA style and format for reference citations. Supporting data (e.g., figures, tables, etc.) and references should be submitted limited to four separate attachments in an appendix after the written portion of the paper.

The paper should begin with a short introduction and then proceed to examine the four topics outlined in the previous section.

The subheadings used in the paper should be:

1.Introduction

2.Description of Proposed Capital Budgeting Project

3. Explanation of the Excel Capital Budgeting Model

4. Explanation and Interpretation of Capital Budgeting Criteria

5. Recommendation About Implementation of Capital Budgeting Project

Completeness of analysis:The analysis must demonstrate a solid understanding of capital budgeting and the analysis of corporate investments. All assumptions used in preparing the projections for the project need to be thoroughly explained.

Ethics of Prescribing Practices

Ethical & Legal Implications of Prescribing Drugs
Ethics of Prescribing Practices

(Ethics of Prescribing Practices)

What type of drug should you prescribe based on your patient’s diagnosis? How much of the drug should the patient receive? How often should the drug be administered? When should the drug not be prescribed? Are there individual patient factors that could create complications when taking the drug? Should you be prescribing drugs to thispatient?

These are some of the questions you might consider when selecting a treatment plan for a patient. As an advanced practice nurse prescribing drugs, you are held accountable for people’s lives on a daily basis. Patients and their families will often place trust in you because of your position. With this trust comes power and responsibility, as well as an ethical and legal obligation to “do no harm.” It is important that you are aware of current professional, legal, and ethical standards for advanced practice nurses with prescriptive authority. In this paper, you explore ethical and legal implications of the following scenario and consider how to appropriately respond.

Scenario:

You see another nurse practitioner writing a prescription for her husband who is not a patient of the nurse practitioner. The prescription is for a narcotic. You can’t decide whether or not to report the incident.

To prepare:

· Review  the following:

  • Chapter 1, “Issues for the Practitioner in Drug      Therapy” (pp. 3–14)
This chapter introduces issues relating to drug therapy such as adverse      drug events and medication adherence. It also explores drug safety, the      practitioner’s role and responsibilities in prescribing, and prescription      writing.
  • Chapter 59, “The Economics of Pharmacotherapeutics”      (pp. 1009-1018)
This chapter analyzes the costs of drug therapy to health care systems and      society and explores practice guideline compliance and current issues in      medical care.
  • Chapter 60, “Integrative Approaches to      Pharmacotherapy—A Look at Complex Cases” (pp. 1021-1036)
This chapter examines issues in individual patient cases. It explores      concepts relating to evaluation, drug selection, patient education, and      alternative treatment options.

· Consider the ethical and legal implications of the scenario for all stakeholders involved such as the prescriber, pharmacist, patient, and the patient’s family.

· Think about two strategies that you, as an advanced practice nurse, would use to guide your ethically and legally responsible decision-making in this scenario.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post an explanation of the ethical and legal implications of the scenario you selected on all stakeholders involved such as the prescriber, pharmacist, patient, and the patient’s family. Describe two strategies that you, as an advanced practice nurse, would use to guide your decision making in this scenario.

Pressure Ulcer Prevention Program

Pressure Ulcer Prevention Program

(Pressure Ulcer Prevention Program)

Discussion 7

Frustrated with ongoing complaints from family members, Reba Sanders, the administrator of 100-bed Lakeview Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Facility, replaced the director of nursing (DON) after she had been on the job for less than 2 years. At the exit conference with Reba, the DON had remarked, “I don’t think pressure ulcers have been a problem in this facility the way it is made out to be by some families. Some patients develop the ulcers at the hospital before they come here; we try our best to take care of them, and I have explained to the families what we are doing. I think firing me is unfair, but it is your decision.” Before the new DON, James Osterwal, was hired for the job, Reba had mentioned to him that looking into the pressure ulcer problem would be his first priority. Reba arranged for James to attend meetings of the local chapter of a national quality improvement organization for nursing homes. Based on some of the information presented at the meetings, James quickly settled on making pressure ulcer elimination as his primary goal. James was quite familiar with the PDSA quality improvement cycle. He discussed it with the charge nurses, decided how data would be collected, and started a campaign asking all nursing staff to adopt the motto: “We will eliminate pressure ulcers at Lakeview.” The associates liked the motto because it gave them a specific goal to work toward. At James’ request, Reba approved hiring an RN nurse coordinator to float between the three shifts. The charge nurses asked their nursing assistants to report to them right away all cases of skin breakdown. James trained the nurses in best practice protocols to treat pressure ulcers. After 4 months, data showed little to no improvement in the prevalence (total number of cases) of pressure ulcers at Lakeview. Both Reba and James could not understand why.

Questions

1.  Based on what you have learned to this point in the course, evaluate the quality improvement program as it pertains to pressure ulcers at Lakeview. Provide a specific outline of weaknesses in the overall approach.

2.  Use the PDSA cycle to address the issue of pressure ulcers. Be specific. For example, how should data be collected? How would you go about identifying root causes of the problem? What interventions would you implement? What roles should the various personnel and the administrator have?

Asthma Pathophysiology and Management

Asthma Pathophysiology and Management

(Asthma Pathophysiology and Management)

Asthma

Complications of asthma can be sudden. Consider the case of Bradley Wilson, a young boy who had several medical conditions. He appeared in good health when he went to school, returned home, and ate dinner. However, when he later went outside to play, he came back inside wheezing. An ambulance took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead (Briscoe, 2012). In another case, 10-year-old Dynasty Reese, who had mild asthma, woke up in the middle of the night and ran to her grandfather’s bedroom to tell him she couldn’t breathe. By the time paramedics arrived, she had passed out and was pronounced dead at the hospital (Glissman, 2012). These situations continue to outline the importance of recognizing symptoms of asthma and providing immediate treatment, as well as distinguishing minor symptoms from serious, life-threatening symptoms. Since these symptoms and attacks are often induced by a trigger, as an advanced practice nurse, you must be able to help patients identify their triggers and recommend appropriate treatment options. For this reason, you need to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation.

To Prepare

  • Review      “Asthma” in Chapter 27 of the Huether and McCance text. Identify the      pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma      exacerbation. Consider how these disorders are similar and different.
  • Select      one of the following factor: gender, ethnicity, or behavior. Think about      how the factor you selected might impact the pathophysiology of both disorders.      Reflect on how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment of these      disorders for a patient based on the factor you selected.
  • Construct      two mind maps—one for chronic asthma and one for acute asthma      exacerbation. Consider the epidemiology and clinical presentation of both      chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation.

To Complete

Write a 2 pages paper that addresses the following:

  • Describe      the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma      exacerbation. Be sure to explain the changes in the arterial blood gas      patterns during an exacerbation.
  • Explain      how the factor you selected might impact the pathophysiology of both      disorders. Describe how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment for a      patient based on the factor you selected.
  • Construct      two mind maps—one for chronic asthma and one for acute asthma exacerbation.      Include the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation, as      well as the diagnosis and treatment you explained in your paper.

**This paper should have Introduction (with a purpose statement) and Conclusion

Intimacy in Brown Sugar

Human Intimate Relationships Film Evaluation
Intimacy in Brown Sugar

(Intimacy in Brown Sugar)

Movie: Brown Sugar

Writing Assignment: Intimacy in Fictional Relationships

The purpose of this assignment is to evaluate intimate couple relationships in your film of choice.  You will write on the film “Brown Sugar”.   You will be required to apply concepts, theories, and terminology from the textbook Intimate Relationships to conduct your evaluation.

Throughout this course, we will be thinking about the dynamics of intimate relationships, and learning what scientific research on intimate relationships has to teach us.  But science is not the only way to learn truths about relationships.  Although the science of relationships is relatively new, intimacy has been a theme in fiction for centuries.  The pioneering marital researcher Neil Jacobson suggested that scientific research has yet to catch up to the wisdom about relationships contained in the best fiction.

For this writing assignment, I am asking you to put Jacobson’s claim to the test.  The goal of the assignment is to apply what we have been learning in this course toward understanding a specific relationship as described in one of the films shown in class.   All of these films are great, and I encourage you to enjoy the entire collection.

Each of these films describes an intimate relationship, sometimes more than one.  Your assignment is to show what you have learned so far by applying the material of this course toward understanding a relationship in one of these films.  Once you have chosen one of these films to write about, you should include the title of the movie at the top of the first page of your paper, under your name and student ID number.  Then please use the exact four headings given below as the headings in your paper in the order they are given.

(Intimacy in Brown Sugar)

I.  Description:  [Provide the names of the two people in the relationship you will be writing about].  In one or two paragraphs, show that you have read the story by describing the relationship you are going to be writing about.  Do not describe the plot of the story!  Instead, use details of the story to tell us about the relationship at the heart of it.  You might want to mention the type of relationship (Married?  Dating), the level of commitment, whether the partners are satisfied or not, the qualities of the partners and their interactions.  Use details from the film, but do not plagiarize:  if you take words from the movie, put quotes around them.

II. What Brings or Keeps This Couple Together?  In this section of the paper, you are being asked to draw from theories we have studied in this course to identify and discuss the forces that bring or keep this couple together or bring the partners closer.  In even the worst relationships, there must be some attractive forces, or else the relationship would not exist.  What are those forces for this couple?  Identify as many as you can, referring to details in the story and keeping in mind the specific theoretical perspectives described in Chapter 3 of the textbook. You will be graded on:  1) how well you have integrated the material from the textbook and the story into your answer, 2) how completely and thoroughly you have answered the question.

III. What Pushes These Two People Apart?  This section is the flip side of the previous section.  Here you are being asked to analyze the forces that might make intimacy difficult for the couple and act to push the two partners apart.  Again, the goal is to show what you know from the course, so you should use details from the story and theories from the textbook to identify as many forces as you can.  The grading criteria are the same here as for the previous section.

(Intimacy in Brown Sugar)

IV. Predicting The Future.  Given what you know about relationships and about the couple described in the story, what do you think the future might hold for this couple?  What would have to happen for the relationship to improve or succeed?  Make a prediction, and justify it with details from the story and from the textbook.

This is not a typical APA paper, in that you will not be required to include an APA References page or in-text citations.  However, you will be required to submit your paper in APA format. This essay will be 5 full pages in length- no more, no less, or points will be deducted.

APA required formatting for the entire document, including Title Page:

· One APA Title Page, (stapled to the top of evaluation).

· 12 point font

· Double-spaced

· Times New Roman

· 1 inch margins on all four sides

**Keep in mind NOT to plagiarize any other work.  If your paper has been plagiarized, you will receive a zero on the assignment. If you are in doubt or are uncertain what plagiarism might be, be click on this link for a review:  http://www.plagiarism.org/plagiarism-101/prevention/

Cultural Awareness & The Diagnosis.

Cultural Awareness & The Diagnosis.

(Cultural Awareness & The Diagnosis.)

As the world grows more interconnected, psychologists may experience an increase in the number of clients with diverse backgrounds. As a result, psychologists may benefit from considering a client’s culture and common perceptions of that culture for psychological disorders and diagnosis. For your future role in the field, consider how a client’s cultural perceptions of a disorder may influence the diagnosis of a disorder, specifically in cases of substance use.

For this Discussion, consider how cultural perceptions of substance use may influence client diagnosis.  Also consider the criteria for substance related disorders.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 4 an explanation of how client culture may influence client perceptions of substance use. Then explain how you might use this information to determine if a client meets the criteria for a substance related disorder.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources and current literature.

Practicum Proposal for MSN

Practicum Proposal for MSN – leadership student

(Practicum Proposal for MSN)

Question description

Description:

This is a case study of a student who is in the last semester of her master’s in nursing in nursing leadership. In order to proceed with the practicum, she must present a “practicum proposal”. The practicum proposal is a scholarly paper that must be written in APA format with perfect grammar, as it will be presented to her professor and preceptor. The entire paper should have a tone that constantly refers to the importance of EBP in nursing leadership. Please have a title page and a reference page, and include at least 5 references that have been written within the last 5 years.

Practicum details:

Student: 30 year old female BSN/RN, finishing her master’s degree in health systems leadership.

Preceptor: COO with an MBA, MSN (nursing), and has held several nursing leadership positions.

Setting: The setting of this practicum is in the Hospice/Palliative care/Home health. The agency provides all those services.

Required sections of the paper & details:

SECTION 1 – Introduction. I finished the first paragraph of the introduction. Please complete the second paragraph of the introduction, and describe the reason why the essay is being written. Below is the first section that I completed:

The growth of the nursing profession over the last several decades can be described as impressive. The nurse’s expanding and developing role in the complex healthcare environment is awe inspiring to say the least. Nurses’ have gone from providing bedside care in the trenches of society, to clinical specialist, and now regarded as proven leaders in the board room. Due to this growth and rapid development, the nurse’s role continues to be pioneered, developed, and refined. Most recently, and most notably, nurses with advanced degrees and clinical specialties are continuously pioneering the restructuring of their role within healthcare systems. For this reason, the practical aspect of a nurse’s education continues to be essential in the process of bridging the gap between theoretical education and its implementation at the point-of-care. The practical aspect of nursing education has historically relied on the nurse-preceptor to assist the student-nurse in the processes of synthesizing the learned theoretical principles into their practice. As a result of this vital role filled by the nurse-preceptor, the preceptor-student interaction must continue to develop within the principles of Evidence Based Practice (EBP), and held to the same standards as that of theoretical nursing education.

SECTION 2- Goals of the practicum. Described the goals of the practicum. AKA what will the graduate student nursing leader learn from the practicum (paragraph 1). Goals should be written from the perspective of the student, clearly stated and relate to the practicum objective and specialty track outcomes.

Please describe at least 5 goals of the practicum in a table with the SMART goals format.

SECTION 3- Anticipated activities to meet goals should be described. (See provided information in the last section as reference point).

SECTION 4 – Describe the role of the preceptor during the practicum. Including practicum project and activities.

SECTION 5 – Describe the setting. Please infer from provided information.

SECTION 6 – Project proposal: The student in this case study is required to conduct a project. The student in this case study has been assigned by her preceptor to work with the director of the home health division of the organization. The project will be for the student to assist the director of the home health division of the organization in the process of being a nursing leader which includes all of the daily aspects of nursing leadership like budget development, managing staff, marketing, scheduling, billing, etc.

SECTION 5 – Discussion/conclusion.

Ethical Dilemma at HighTech

Portfolio Project- Development of an Ethics Foundation:
A Case Study-HighTech, Inc.
Ethical Dilemma at HighTech

(Ethical Dilemma at HighTech)

Question description

Identify the issues, define your ethical decision-making model and ethical theory, explain the options and consequences, and pick the solution you would choose, and why, for the following situation:

Sally, controller and CPA, has been working hard to finish the year-end financial statements for HighTech, Inc. HighTech, Inc. provides social media relationships between users by focusing on up-to-the-minute communications on events—kind of like Instagram. This year is a critical year for the firm. The company is expected to make a profit after five years of product development and losses. In working to complete the year-end financials, Sally finds out that the figures are not logical. In fact, it seems that the company has overstated assets and income by $300 million. Based upon the short investigation that she has been able to complete, it seems that both the CEO and CFO have signed and approved some documents that have inflated the numbers. The documents indicate a realization and recording of the social media customer valuation of future sales into the present accounting period. Every social media customer for the firm generates advertising revenue equal to $5.00 per year. The documents indicate that the social media customer revenue for the year was increased to $7.00 per customer. The incremental revenue was booked on December 30. This lead to an increase in revenue of $300 million and accrual Long Term Account Receivable of $300 million.

Sally is pressured by time (a filing deadline is tomorrow, to get the financial information finalized and printed for the shareholders’ meeting) and the following other considerations:

The shareholders have been promised that an Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the company will be done within the next year. The original founders of the firm are looking at the coming year to issue the IPO. Morgan Stanley has been hired to provide the financial advice on the IPO issuance. The benefits to the stockholders are in the millions.
Sally is a go-getter; she wants to succeed in the company. She sees herself as a CFO in the future. Sally has been with the company for five years. She was one of the first employees hired. She has had excellent annual performance reviews. Upper management sees Sally as part of the team.

Sally is a CPA. She has joined the state CPA organization and the AICPA organization. She has viewed and passed the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct Certification.

Sally has personal pressures since she recently bought a new $500,000 house using all her savings as a down payment, $100,000. Further, her husband recently has taken an unpaid leave from his job due to a difficult illness and medical bills are mounting. He fell at work and needed serious back surgery. He needs special nursing care during the day. Sally helps at night as much as she can.

(Ethical Dilemma at HighTech)

The banks have been patient in providing lending during the rough times but will declare the loans in default and demand immediate repayment if the numbers are not near breakeven.

Answer the following questions:

  • Based on the above given information, what should Sally do?
  • What might be the duty of professional responsibility as a CPA and member of the AICPA?
  • What might Sally’s responsibility to herself be to provide the highest work with integrity, honesty, trustworthy, and transparency?
  • Does Sally have a responsibility to her firm to follow the directions of the president? If yes or no, provide rationale.
  • What standard of rules might help Sally to complete the assignment?
  • What might be the consequences if Sally completes the financial statements within the timeframe and breakeven?

Requirements:

  • Your written paper should be 8 pages in length not counting the title and reference pages, which you must include.
  • Integrate concepts, terms, and theories from the readings and modules contents.
  • You need to cite at least five sources for this portfolio project, outside of the textbook. Four of these sources must come from academic journals.
  • Your paper must be formatted according to the APA
  • Review the grading rubric attached

Public Health 2

Public Health 2

(Public Health 2)

Community health centers provide primary health care services to more than 22 million people across the United States. Each health center provides for the unique needs of patients in its immediate community. Many of the patients that are seen at health centers represent uninsured or underinsured patients and/or those with limited access to healthcare. This assignment will help you identify service delivery needs and provide quality recommendations for improving access to healthcare.

Read the following case study from your textbook:

  • Case 20: Big Brother is Watching: Utilizing Clinical Decision Support as a Tool to Limit Adverse Drug Events

Then, do the following:

  • Conduct research on “community health centers” by reviewing the National Association of Community Health Centers website at About Our Health Centers – NACHC

Assignment: Find The Ergonomic Problems

(Find The Ergonomic Problems)

Ergonomics

Employee safety extends to their workspaces. For HIM Professionals, this often involves an office, cubicle, or other space that contains a desk, computer, monitor, filing cabinets, and so on. You may be seated at that desk for extended periods, and this can lead to discomfort. In extreme cases it can lead to injuries in your back, neck, eyes, or wrists (carpel tunnel).

“Ergonomics” is the engineering and organization of objects and spaces to minimize physical discomfort and potential for accident or injury. It is very important. As an HIM professional, you will be called on to educate new employees. This should always include ergonomic training as well. You may also be called upon to improve workspaces with ergonomics in mind.
