Professional Development Plan3

Professional Development Plan3

(Professional Development Plan3)

A professional development plan is crucial for advancing one’s career and enhancing skills. It begins with a self-assessment to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for growth. Setting clear, achievable goals is paramount, aligning with both short-term milestones and long-term aspirations. Continuous learning is essential; seeking out training, workshops, and educational opportunities relevant to one’s field ensures staying current and competitive.

Networking plays a vital role; connecting with peers, mentors, and industry leaders fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and potential career opportunities. Additionally, seeking feedback regularly aids in personal and professional growth, allowing for reflection and refinement of skills.

Time management is key; balancing professional development activities with work responsibilities requires effective prioritization and organization. Finally, revisiting and revising the plan periodically ensures it remains relevant and adaptive to changing circumstances and career goals. By following a well-crafted professional development plan, individuals can chart a course toward success and fulfillment in their careers.

Research Proposal

Research Proposal

(Research Proposal)

The written research proposal will be created based on a narrowly defined aspect of the topic selected in Week One. A research proposal is a detailed plan for a specific study to be conducted at a future time. It is the document which potential researchers typically submit to an institutional review board (IRB) for ethical review and approval, and/or to funding agencies to secure financial support for a research effort. Because it is a plan for research which has not yet been conducted, the Methods section should be written in the future tense and should not contain any hypothetical results. The paper must address all of the components required in the Methods section of a research proposal. The following actions must be completed.

  • State the research question and/or hypothesis.
  • Briefly compare the characteristics of the major research paradigms used in previous studies on the chosen topic. Introduce the specific approach (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods), research design, sampling strategy, data collection procedures, and data analysis techniques to be used in this study. Provide a short explanation as to why the selected procedures are more feasible than other alternatives for the research topic.
  • Describe any relevant variables, measures, and statistical tests.
  • Apply ethical principles and professional standards to the proposed psychological research. Provide an analysis of any ethical issues that may arise and explain how these issues will be resolved.

The following headings for the required sections and subsections must appear in the paper. In accordance with APA style, all references listed must be cited in the text of the paper.

  • Introduction
    • Introduce the research topic, explain why it is important, and present an appropriately and narrowly defined research question and/or hypothesis.
  • Literature Review
    • Evaluate the published research on the chosen topic including a minimum of three peer-reviewed articles. Summarize the current state of knowledge on the topic, making reference to the findings of previous research studies. Briefly mention the research methods that have previously been used to study the topic. State whether the proposed study is a replication of a previous study or a new approach employing methods that have not been used before. Be sure to properly cite all sources in APA style.
  • Methods
    • Design – Create a feasible research design that incorporates appropriate methods to address the topic. Indicate whether the approach of the proposed study is qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods. Identify the specific research design, and indicate whether it is experimental or non-experimental. Evaluate the chosen design and explain why this design is feasible and appropriate for the topic and how it will provide the information needed to answer the research question. Cite sources on research methodology to support these choices. Include a minimum of two peer-reviewed sources.
    • Participants – Identify and describe the sampling strategy to be used to recruit participants for the study. Estimate the number of participants needed, and explain why this sampling method is appropriate for the research design and approach.
    • Procedure/Measures – Apply the scientific method by describing the steps to be taken in carrying out the study. Identify any test, questionnaire, or measurement instrument to be utilized. If an existing published instrument will be employed, briefly describe it and cite the source. If an original questionnaire, survey, or test will be created for the project, describe the types of information that will be collected with it and explain how the validity and reliability of the instrument will be established. If such an instrument will not be used, describe how the data will be collected for the study.
    • Data Analysis – Describe the statistical techniques (if quantitative) or the analysis procedure (if qualitative) to be used to analyze the data. Cite at least one peer-reviewed source on the chosen analysis technique.
    • Ethical Issues – Analyze the impact of ethical concerns on the proposed study, such as confidentiality, deception, informed consent, potential harm to participants, conflict of interest, IRB approval, etc. After analyzing the ethical issues that apply to the project, indicate what will be done to handle these concerns.

Multicultural Birth Expectation Differences

Multicultural Birth Expectation Differences

(Multicultural Birth Expectation Differences)

Multicultural Differences in Women’s Expectations of Birth , writing discussion help

Question description

Please do a paragraph about this post with this instruction .post most have  4 or more  sentences . you also have to have a high quality post from a content perspective. This means it also needs to do more than agree with or praise a class mate. If you agree with a classmate, explain why, give an example, share what you learned in the readings

The article critiqued is Multicultural Differences in Women’s Expectations of Birth that was found in the AFB Journal in the spring of 2016.

When it comes to childbirth, expectant women may have expectations that are different than what will and does actually happen. The Mother’s expectations of the childbirth experience may also be very different than that of the healthcare provider that will manage her delivery.

Initial searches for article titles were performed by the researcher, key words used were combinations of childbirth, culture, expectations, anticipations, institutionalized racism, pregnancy, state of the science, transcultural nursing, birth, primipara and nullipara were used.

Abstracts and keywords were conducted using the following:

PubMed, SCOCINAH, Medline and grey literaturProQuestSigma Theta Tau International database.

Two seminal anthropologic texts (Jordan’s and Davis- Floyd’s book Birth in Four Cultures (1993), and Davis- Floyd ’s discussion of American birth, Birth as an American Rite of Passage (2003), related to birth were included. Both texts discussed the views of various cultures, including American/Western culture. Culture defines safe birth and postpartum practices, designed to preserve the life of the mother and infant, and the future maternal health and fertility.

The data collected:

Qualitative and Quantitative work was used. Most of the studies used were qualitative and included:

  • Ethnographic
  • Exploratory and Descriptive
  • Or, of Phenomenological works

Quantitative studies were predominantly descriptive surveys, comparison and/or correlation. Many of the studies were done in industrialized nations including the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand.

The questions and topics evaluated in the study covered personal behavior and control, provider behavior, support of family and partner, pain, western culture and hegemony, and the health of the baby.

Discussion and Conclusion:

It was determined that several issues arose that had a direst effect upon the validity of the study. Some of those issues were: Language barrier, African American women were not included in the research data (and to some extent, neither were women of Hispanic culture).Educational backgrounds were not diverse enough (one study only included professional women) Women of a lower socio-economic level were also not included.

The conclusion was that the study is missing vital data and further studies are required. This is an accurate conclusion.

Developing Ethical Academic Voice

Developing Ethical Academic Voice

(Developing Ethical Academic Voice)

Ethics

To prepare for this exercise, please read Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (2010) and Mouse Click Plagiarism: The Role of Technology in Plagiarism and the Librarian’s Role in Combating It (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site..  Also review the course content you read from your text this week.

Finding one’s academic voice is an important part of development when dedicating one’s self to earning a degree. However, it is not always easy. Sometimes we lack the confidence (self-efficacy) and think our words are not good enough. Other times, managing our time becomes difficult and taking short cuts seems like our only way out. Once this habit begins, especially if it is not caught, can have devastating results later down the road, but often our emotions allow us to rationalize the practice of taking this easy option.

There are also many temptations with the World Wide Web, including websites touting that you can buy information that cannot be traced. Be cautious. Technological advancement is making this claim false.

Find your confidence and take the high road by developing your academic voice. One of the most important aspects to this is simply giving credit to where the information was learned.

YES! You must cite, not only quotes, but also any information that would not be known, had a person not learned it from someone.

This exercise involves exploring ethical writing practices and will include three parts:

Part One

Discuss why you think plagiarism is so problematic in higher education today. Have you seen examples of it? What do you think you can personally do to help develop your own academic voice? Does it stir up any emotions when you think others are “getting away with it”?

Part Two

Write a two-paragraph summary about what you have learned about I/O Psychology this week and how it could be applied in your own circumstances. Include at least one quote (cited correctly (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.),   http://demographicwinter.org/732/citing-direct-quotes-apa/citing-direct-quotes-apa-alexdapiata-with-regard-to-citing-direct-quotes-apa-2/

but for the rest, paraphrase (rewrite in your own words) your paragraph (also applying citations appropriately throughout (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.).   http://demographicwinter.org/732/citing-direct-quotes-apa/citing-direct-quotes-apa-alexdapiata-inside-citing-direct-quotes-apa/

Highlight your quote in blue. Highlight your citations for your self-worded explanations/commentary in yellow.

Be sure to also include correctly formatted citations prior to running the document. (For examples of how to write citations, see the Ashford Wiring Center.)

Run this summary through your course similarity tool (Turn It In). Make corrections as indicated prior to submitting.

Part Three

Discuss your results (two to three paragraphs) and the process of intentionally developing your academic writing skills.

Why do you think it is important to cite resources when you are putting into your own words?

Do you have any bad habits you need to break?

How much more difficult would it be to avoid this situation when using websites to assist you in research?

What strategies could you use here to help you have more success and prevent accidental mistakes?

This exercise should be a minimum of two to three pages and should adequately discuss all questions posed, demonstrate maturating self-awareness and a personal commitment to developing your academic voice.

A reference page is required and sources must include correct citations within the writing exercise when utilized. (If you are not sure you are doing this correctly, please submit to the Ashford Writing Center prior to submitting for a grade to allow them to assist you. See “Writing Center & Library” tab on the left.)

Your text is the only required source, but additional sources are encouraged. Use the rubric to check for thoroughness. The Ashford Library should be used as your primary source for any additional sources.

Your sources should be cited according to APA format

Strategies For Decision Making3

Strategies for Decision Making3 – Week 2 Assignment

(Strategies For Decision Making3)

Effective decision-making strategies are essential for personal and professional success. Here are key strategies:

  1. Define the Problem: Clearly identify and articulate the issue at hand. This provides a focused framework for finding solutions.
  2. Gather Information: Collect relevant data from credible sources. This includes quantitative data, expert opinions, and feedback from stakeholders.
  3. Generate Alternatives: Brainstorm multiple potential solutions. Encourage creative thinking to explore a wide range of options.
  4. Weigh the Evidence: Evaluate the pros and cons of each alternative. Consider the short-term and long-term implications, risks, and benefits.
  5. Make a Decision: Choose the best alternative based on the evaluation. Trust your judgment and the data gathered.

Constructing Deductive and Inductive Arguments

Arguments consist of premises and conclusions. Premises are structured so as to lend support to conclusions. The kind of support that a premise lends to a conclusion allows us to distinguish between deductive and inductive arguments. This week, you will be constructing both kinds of arguments.

1.  In three premises each, construct one example of each following deductive argument form:

·  Modus ponens

·  Modus tollens

·  Hypothetical syllogism

·  Disjunctive syllogism

Make sure your arguments are deductively valid and that your examples are your own. Here are two examples of the general format that your arguments should take:

Modus ponens:

1.  If it is raining, then it is pouring.

2.  It is raining.

3.  Therefore, it is pouring.

Modus tollens:

1.  If Jack went to the grocery store, then he bought cookies.

2.  Jack did not buy cookies.

3.  Therefore, Jack did not go to the grocery store.

2.  After you construct the preceding deductive argument forms, construct a three premise syllogism. For example:

1.  All men are mortal.

2.  Socrates is a man.

3.  Therefore, Socrates is mortal.

3.  After you construct a three premise syllogism, construct one of each of the following inductive argument patterns:

·  Induction by enumeration

·  Reasoning by analogy

·  Statistical induction

·  Higher-level induction

Your examples of inductive argument patterns should not be expressed in premise form. Rather, they should be informally expressed in writing. You should have one paragraph for each pattern. Be as detailed as possible.

Finally, please remember to label your arguments. This makes it easier for them to be graded. Include your name, course section, and the date at the top of your assignment document.

Question description

I need a quantitative critique essay 1000-1250 word essay using this article found http://circoutcomes.ahajournals.org/content/6/4/44… Hospital Strategies Associated With 30-Day Readmission Rates for Patients With Heart Failure. Here are the guideline to writing it,

Research Critique Guidelines

To write a critical appraisal that demonstrates comprehension of the research study conducted, address each component below for quantitative study in the Topic 3 assignment.

Successful completion of this assignment requires that you provide a rationale, include examples, or reference content from the study in your responses.

Quantitative Study

Background of Study:

Identify the clinical problem and research problem that led to the study. What was not known about the clinical problem that, if understood, could be used to improve health care delivery or patient outcomes? This gap in knowledge is the research problem.

How did the author establish the significance of the study? In other words, why should the reader care about this study? Look for statements about human suffering, costs of treatment, or the number of people affected by the clinical problem.

Identify the purpose of the study. An author may clearly state the purpose of the study or may describe the purpose as the study goals, objectives, or aims.

List research questions that the study was designed to answer. If the author does not explicitly provide the questions, attempt to infer the questions from the answers.

Were the purpose and research questions related to the problem?

Methods of Study

Identify the benefits and risks of participation addressed by the authors. Were there benefits or risks the authors do not identify?

Was informed consent obtained from the subjects or participants?

Did it seem that the subjects participated voluntarily in the study?

Was institutional review board approval obtained from the agency in which the study was conducted?

Are the major variables (independent and dependent variables) identified and defined? What were these variables?

How were data collected in this study?

What rationale did the author provide for using this data collection method?

Identify the time period for data collection of the study.

Describe the sequence of data collection events for a participant.

Describe the data management and analysis methods used in the study.

Did the author discuss how the rigor of the process was assured? For example, does the author describe maintaining a paper trail of critical decisions that were made during the analysis of the data? Was statistical software used to ensure accuracy of the analysis?

What measures were used to minimize the effects of researcher bias (their experiences and perspectives)? For example, did two researchers independently analyze the data and compare their analyses?

Results of Study

What is the researcher’s interpretation of findings?

Are the findings valid or an accurate reflection of reality? Do you have confidence in the findings?

What limitations of the study were identified by researchers?

Was there a coherent logic to the presentation of findings?

What implications do the findings have for nursing practice? For example, can the findings of the study be applied to general nursing practice, to a specific population, or to a specific area of nursing?

What suggestions are made for further studies?

Ethical Considerations

Was the study approved by an Institutional Review Board?

Was patient privacy protected?

Were there ethical considerations regarding the treatment or lack of?

Conclusion

Emphasize the importance and congruity of the thesis statement.

Provide a logical wrap-up to bring the appraisal to completion and to leave a lasting impression and take-away points useful in nursing practice.

Incorporate a critical appraisal and a brief analysis of the utility and applicability of the findings to nursing practice.

Integrate a summary of the knowledge learned.
