(software engineering capstone)

Question description

Capstone Project Scenario:

You have been asked to develop an ordering application for a restaurant that serves American style Chinese food and specializes in delivery. Here is the information your manager just shared with you about this software development project.

The Chinese food ordering application allows customers with a web browser to order their selection of menu items for home delivery. To place an order, a customer would search to find items to purchase (main entrees, sodas, soups, sides, etc.), and then add items one at a time to a shopping cart. They could also view a page that showed the daily special. The customer could search again for more items if they wanted. They would also have the option to build their own dishes, starting a choice of rices or noodles and adding main selections (When in doubt, use Panda Express as a refernce). When all items were chosen, the customer would see the cost of their order, and also be prompted to provide a delivery address for that specific order. If not paying with cash, the customer would provide credit or debit card information for use on the current order. The system should have an option for customers to register with the restaurant. They could then save their name, address information and e-mail address, so that they wouldn’t have to enter this information every time they placed an order. If they didn’t want to save their personal details on the site, they could register their e-mail address only, which would let them receive coupons and updates on special promotions.

To complete this assignment, make assumptions as needed–just be sure to document any assumptions you make.

Milestone #1 (75 points)(software engineering capstone)

Identify the following information about the Chinese food ordering application:

a. Purpose or goal of the system

b. Primary user(s) of the system

2. Assume the role of the customer. Identify 10 user requirements in user story format “As a (role), I want (feature), so that I can (justification/benefit).”

3. Identify 5 functional requirements and 2 or more non-functional requirements using the “shall” format from Chapter 4.

4. Identify 5 use case scenarios and create a simple use case UML diagram for each.

Milestone #2 (50 points)(software engineering capstone)

1. Complete a UML activity diagram that provides a high level overview of the major processes that characterize the Chinese food ordering application.

2. Assume a Test Driven Development approach. Identify 5 or more failing tests and what you would do to make them pass. These tests will form the basis of your unit testing strategy.

3. Identify whether a plan-driven “waterfall” software development approach or an agile framework or methodology might be more suitable for this software development project. Explain your recommendation.

Milestone #3 (50 points)(software engineering capstone)

1. Identify the evolution and maintenance related items that should be considered when planning to develop the Chinese food ordering software application.

2. Identify ten or more risks that could develop with this project. What is the probability or likelihood that each risk might occur, and what would be the effect to your Chinese food ordering application if it did? What is your plan to either avoid, minimize or recover from (i.e., contingency plan) each of these risks if they were to occur? Present your risk analysis as a Risk Register in a tabular format, with the highest impacts/effects listed first.

a. Project Planning Assignments:

b. Plan-driven “waterfall” planning approach assignment: Use the 10 user story requirements from Milestone #1 for this assignment. For each user story, identify the effort in person-days and duration of each deliverable. If one user story is dependent on another, identify that relationship.

i. Agile SCRUM planning approach assignment: Use the 10 user story requirements from Milestone #1 for this assignment. Assuming a 2-week sprint cycle or iteration, identify how many sprints this software development project will take to complete. Identify which user stories will be completed within each sprint and what considerations went into your sizing decision.

ii. Be sure to rank the user stories from highest to lowest priority.

3. Be sure the most important user stories are completed before the least important user stories.

Instructors, training on how to grade is within the Instructor Center.

Assignment 1: Description of Research Methodology
Due Week 2 and worth 150 points

In this assignment, you will write an essay about the research methods and ethical implications of a social psychology study. You will get information about the study from one of the entries in the SPARQ “Solutions Catalog”, which is a web site maintained by Stanford University at https://sparq.stanford.edu/solutions?&&. SPARQ is an acronym for “Social Psychological Answers to Real-world Questions.” Each entry in the Solutions Catalog names a problem, and then offers a solution to that problem, based on a research study in social psychology.

To keep this assignment short and manageable, your only sources for this assignment should be from the SPARQ site and your course materials, such as your textbook. There is no need for you to cite any of the course materials. Therefore, no additional citations or references are needed, beyond those from the SPARQ site.

In this exercise, you will choose one of the entries in the SPARC site, and then write a two to three (2-3) page paper that meets the following requirements.

  1. Begin your paper with a short introductory statement that clearly identifies the article from the SPARQ site that you are using, as well as the corresponding research article. Model your statement after the following example:
The article I selected from the SPARQ website is entitled “Boost Grades by Reframing Failures” (Wilson, n.d.), which summarizes a research article (Wilson & Linville, 1982) on the topic.
      • Please note that there are two APA “in-text citations” in this example. The first citation “(Wilson, n.d.)” is an in-text citation for the SPARQ article. The SPARQ articles are undated, which means that there is no date of publication reported. The “n.d.” designation is an abbreviation for “no date”.
      • The second citation “(Wilson & Linville, 1982)”, is an in-text citation to the original research article. We are asking you to cite this paper for practice in using APA, but are not requiring you to read the original paper. Normally, you should cite only those articles that you actually read and used, but we’re making an exception here for the purposes of practice.
  1. Briefly summarize the main details of your chosen social psychology research study. Identify the main research method(s) used in the study (e.g., case study, experiment, observation, etc.).
  2. Explain whether or not you believe the research methodology that the researchers used in the study was the most appropriate for the study. Provide a rationale for your response.
  3. Discuss whether or not you believe the research methodology used in the study is the one (1) method that provides researchers with the most information in general. Explain the main reasons why or why not.
  4. Explain the major ethical implications of the selected study (e.g., informed consent, debriefing, etc.). Describe the main reasons why you believe the study was or was not ethical. Provide a rationale for your response.
  5. The final section of your paper will be a reference section that contains a corresponding reference for both of the in-text citations in your introductory statement (see point #1, above). In APA-style citations, in-text citations must match up with a reference in the reference section. You can model your reference section after the following:
Wilson, T. D. (n.d.). Boost grades by reframing failures. Retrieved from https://sparq.stanford.edu/solutions/boost-grades-reframing-failures
Wilson, T. D. & Linville, P.W. (1982). Improving the academic performance of college freshmen: attribution therapy revisited. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology42 (2), 367-376.
      • These examples follow the APA conventions for an Internet article, and a professional journal article, respectively.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Describe research methods that are used for studying social psychology.
  • Develop an increased understanding of the dynamic between society and individuals.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in social psychology.
  • Write clearly and concisely about social psychology using proper grammar and mechanics.

Protocol For Diagnosis Management

Assignment 1: Application – Protocol For Diagnosis Management, And Follow-Up Care Of Disorders

(Protocol For Diagnosis Management)

The protocol for diagnosis, management, and follow-up care of disorders is crucial for ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Firstly, accurate diagnosis is achieved through thorough medical history-taking, physical examination, and relevant investigations such as blood tests, imaging studies, or biopsies. Once diagnosed, effective management strategies are implemented based on evidence-based guidelines and individual patient factors. This may include medications, lifestyle modifications, therapy, or surgical interventions.

Follow-up care is essential for monitoring treatment response, detecting any complications or side effects, and adjusting the management plan accordingly. Regular follow-up appointments allow healthcare providers to assess the patient’s progress, address any concerns, and provide ongoing support. Patient education plays a vital role in promoting self-management and adherence to treatment plans.

Additionally, interdisciplinary collaboration among healthcare professionals ensures comprehensive care, with specialists contributing their expertise as needed. Clear communication with patients regarding their diagnosis, treatment options, and expected outcomes fosters shared decision-making and enhances patient satisfaction.

Overall, a well-defined protocol for diagnosis, management, and follow-up care promotes standardized, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare delivery, ultimately leading to improved health outcomes and quality of life.

As pediatric patients grow from infancy to adolescence, there are many common body system disorders that may potentially present. As an advanced practice nurse caring for these patients, you must understand the pathophysiology and epidemiology of these disorders as this will help you to recognize symptoms and select appropriate assessment and treatment options. In this Assignment, you prepare for your role in clinical settings as you design a protocol for the diagnosis, management, and follow-up care for a common body system disorder.

To prepare:

  • Reflect on th

e body system disorder that you selected in Week 5 – Asthma

  • Think about the pathophysiology and epidemiology of the disorder.
  • Consider a protocol for the diagnosis, management, and follow-up care of the disorder you selected.
  • Think about how culture might impact the care of patients who present with this disorder.

To complete:

Write a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:

  • Explain the disorder you selected, including its pathophysiology and epidemiology.
  • Explain a protocol for the diagnosis, management, and follow-up care of this disorder.

Strategic Interview Design

Strategic Interview Design: Analysis & Preparation

(Strategic Interview Design)

Assignment 2: Lasa 1-Create an Interview Guide(Strategic Interview Design)

By the due date assigned, complete the following assignment below.

Directions:

During the first week of class you conducted your first practice interview. You have since had the opportunity to learn about the formal process of interviewing and the techniques used in interviewing. With this new information in mind, it is time to develop a detailed plan for your second interview, which you may conduct face-to-face or over the telephone. Your second interview is broken down into two parts.

  1. The first portion, preparing for the interview, is due this week in Module 3 (LASA 1).
  2. The second part of this assignment, conducting and analyzing the interview, is due in Module 5 (LASA 2).

For this week you will be completing A. You will need to:

    1. Locate a Volunteer: He/she will play the role of “client” seeking help for persistent headaches and problems sleeping. The person you interview can be someone you know personally or you can contact your classmates through the Student Lounge to arrange to interview one another.
      1. The client believes that stress may be part of the problem with his/her symptoms. Remember that this is a role play, and your volunteer should be aware that this is a practice interview and not a real psychological interview.
      2. Prior to conducting your interview, ask your volunteer to think about stress that s/he can discuss related to the client’s problems (e.g., your client may think about stress from a job or stress related to a relationship with a significant other). However, DO NOT have your volunteer discuss this stress with you prior to the interview. You want to be able to explore this topic in depth during your interview. This scenario is intentionally left open-ended in order to allow students to maximize opportunity to utilize interview skills during the interview.
    2. Create an Interview Guide:
      1. In order to achieve a quality interview, you will need to first plan your interview, which is this week’s assignment (you will conduct and analyze the interview in Module 5).
      2. The purpose of your interview is to gather in-depth information to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning for the client. You will need to gather detailed information about the symptoms being reported for both headaches and sleep problems (e.g., How often are the headaches occurring? How long do they last? What do they feel like? Has any treatment helped? Is there any pattern to the headaches?). You will also need to present a complete picture of the patient. What is the patient’s gender, age, marital status, and employment status? Be sure to go beyond these example questions, and provide an in-depth, highly detailed interview with your client.

Interview Guide TopicsThe Interview Guide should directly address the below topics. Use each of these topics as headings within your paper to ensure that you directly respond to each. You should respond with at least a paragraph for each topic/heading.

      1. Identify and summarize the purpose of your interview. How will the information you gather be used?
      2. Explain how you will structure the interview and your reasoning behind the structuring of the interview. Include a list of topics you plan to cover.
      3. Compose the questions you will use to obtain the information (develop a minimum of 15-20 questions). Be sure that you develop a minimum of 5 open and 5 closed ended questions.
      4. Develop a minimum of 5 examples of paraphrasing, summaries, or reflections techniques that could be used during your interview (must have at least one of each paraphrase, summary, and reflection). When you conduct your actual interview, these exact examples you create may not fit depending on the responses of your interviewee, but it is important to start thinking now about how you will incorporate these techniques. For this Interview Guide assignment, develop hypothetical examples of each type of technique.
      5. Identify the opening techniques you will utilize to build rapport with the volunteer/client.
      6. Identify types/examples of questions you want to avoid during interview.

Include an Analysis Summary:

In addition to the Interview Guide include an analysis (2-3 paragraphs) of your own preliminary thoughts about this client based on the limited information you have about this client. Have you ever known a person with chronic headaches or sleep problems? What is your “gut reaction” to hearing about a patient with chronic headaches and problems sleeping? That the person is a complainer? Is he/she a victim of terrible illness? Spend some time examining your thoughts and attitudes. It is normal for all of us to make at least preliminary assumptions about everyone we come in to contact with, and a good interviewer has awareness of his or her preliminary assumptions. Include the following in your analysis:

  1. Identify your own beliefs (sympathetic, unsympathetic, or some mixture of both) and explain how these could affect your interview. Do you think that your beliefs are influenced by your own age, cultural, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity?
  2. Identify steps you can take to limit the impact of your own beliefs on the interview. Be as specific as possible.

Start planning now! Remember that you will need a volunteer to role play your client in Module 5. Work on identifying that person now and scheduling your interview well in advance to avoid any possible scheduling delays. You will also need to audio or video record the interview in Module 5 so that you can later transcribe the interview. Make sure you have access to the equipment you will need.

Introduction Assignment 5

Introduction Assignment 5

(Introduction Assignment 5)

Read the following article by Jay Feldman and answer the questions that follow:

There was a time in the not so distant past when many, if not most, publicly held corporations, including the one for which I worked, embraced in their mission statements, codes of conduct and similar pronouncements a responsibility to serve multiple stakeholders: their stockholders, of course, but also their employees as well as customers, suppliers and the community in which they operated. Today, all too many companies, in deed and often in word, articulate a single-minded obligation to serve only their investors by focusing exclusively on profitability.

As a result, we have witnessed corporate downsizings and outsourcing of jobs; restructuring of pension plans or their complete termination; reductions in health care benefits; and wage stagnation in spite of increased productivity. Domestic suppliers have been squeezed or, more often, replaced by cheap foreign sources. Customers seeking service are confronted with automated answering machines and foreign call centers. Environmental concerns are viewed as obstacles to profitability.

At the same time, the senior managers of these enterprises have seen their compensation grow exponentially as a reward for their perceived contributions to the bottom line.

Sadly, what these corporations fail to appreciate is how their obsession with the bottom line is shrinking their markets, both domestic and foreign. The large number of people unemployed, underemployed, afraid of losing their jobs or without the means to pay all their bills perpetuates the present worldwide economic crisis.

Add to this the unwillingness of businesses to pay their fair share of taxes to support education, health care and the infrastructure that is critical to their success. In the end, these self-serving practices endanger the very profitability their practitioners seek to enhance.

We need to return to the earlier model of the corporation as a good citizen. Doing so can help ensure the long-term viability of our free enterprise system.

Considering the passage above, write a paper of 4 full page APA formatted that addresses the following:

1. Discuss Alfred North Whitehead’s statement: “What is morality in any given time and place? It is what the majority then and there happen to like and immorality is what they dislike.” Consider the following questions as guide:

a. Businesses can have ethical standards, but Businesses are not moral agents. Do you agree or disagree?

b. Is it true that the “bottom line” of business is profit and profit alone?

c. In business, are there other less tangible goals that are intrinsic to and just as important as making money?

d. Why should we be moral as individuals?

e. Why should a corporation or organization be moral?

2. How would you apply the first formulation of Kant’s categorical imperative to a Business environment?

Consider deontological ethics, teleological ethics, moral objectivism, and ethical relativism in your argument. Provide at least 3 valid reasons to support your argument. Also, be sure to include the following in your paper:

Identify your argument—or thesis statement—within the introduction of your paper.

Include definitions of utilitarianism, Categorical Imperatives, Process Philosophy, moral relativism, moral absolutism, ethical relativism, moral objectivism, deontological ethics, and teleological ethics.

Consider morality and ethics from the perspective of Alfred North Whitehead’s process philosophy, and Immanuel Kant’s universal categorical imperative. Could you argue that Businesses can have ethical standards, despite the fact that Businesses are not moral agents? Why or why not? Please explain.

Distinguish between descriptive and normative definitions of morality

  • Use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • You may find that you change your mind on the issue as you are writing your paper. That is fine, but be sure to present your ultimate decision at the beginning of the paper, and stick to it consistently throughout. This may require that you go back and change the first few paragraphs that contain your thesis statement.
  • Your argument should be clear, concise, and supported with logically valid claims.

Coaching Employees

Coaching Employees

(Coaching Employees)

Consider the following scenario:

You were very pleased with your decision to select Mala during your last recruitment initiative. Just out of college, Mala has the enthusiasm and professional drive that could benefit your health care organization. However, you recognize that Mala will have a lot to learn in a clinical setting. As a nurse manager, you have led many successful group trainings, but have far less experience coaching employees one-on-one. You wonder how you should approach this relationship and what steps you should take to increase the positivity and effectiveness of this experience.

Coaching is an ongoing process that is an integral function of the management role. It focuses on the development needs of the employee and is built on a relationship of trust between the leader and follower. Coaching is a powerful activity that demonstrates value of and respect for the employee. In this Assignment, you examine how you could serve as a coach to facilitate an individual’s professional development.

To prepare

  • Reflect on the information shared in the article, “Coaching Nurses: A Real Example of a Real Difference.” Which of these best practices might you use to strengthen your own coaching skills?
  • Review Chapter 7, “Coaching and Developing Others” in the course text, From Management to Leadership: Strategies for Transforming Health Care. Consider how the author compares coaching staff in a health care setting to coaching athletes, directing a movie, and conducting a symphony. Then, examine the six steps of the coaching process. How does each of the coaching steps build upon one another to create a positive and effective coaching experience?
  • In preparation for this hypothetical coaching exercise, identify one individual, staff member, or employee (from your current organization or a past setting) who could benefit from coaching. Create a pseudonym for him or her.
  • Use the six-step coaching process to develop a coaching and development plan.
