Question description

Part I: Listening Analysis First read the Week 2 lecture on listening and do the listening exercises to evaluate your listening skills. Then, use that information to describe an instance when you failed to be an effective listener.

Next, respond to the following prompts. As you compose your responses, you should make connections to the ideas contained in the listening chapter assigned for the week.

  • Where in the stages of listening did you experience breakdown?
  • What was the reason you failed to listen effectively?
  • What could you have done differently to improve your listening?

This part of the assignment should be written with at least four paragraphs (with a minimum of three to four sentences each) of commentary, which is in addition to any quoting from the exercise itself you may choose to do. It may be helpful to explain your thought process and provide examples to give explanation to your descriptions of why you feel that way. This is not a formal paper, but college-level spelling, grammar, and syntax are expected.

Part II: Small Group and Public Speaking Strategies Later in this course, you will read chapters that address skills in both small group communication and public speaking. This assignment is intended to get you thinking about those skills before that information is covered in class, so know that you are not expected to have fully researched responses for this part of the Week 2 assignment.

Using the Communication Improvement Strategy Table from the Week 1 Lecture, develop an improvement strategy that follows it according to the following assessments:

  • the checklist describing the skills covering small-group communication in Chapter 9 on page 189; and
  • the Test Yourself inventory on public-speaking apprehension in Chapter 11 on page 209 OR the checklist describing the steps in preparing a speech on page 234.

You may choose to format these into tables or write them in paragraph form. With whichever option, you should have clear labels for the four main areas: problem, goal, plan, and test of measurability.(Interpersonal Communcation)

Part III: Presentation Topics and Research Ideas Based on the improvement strategies and work on the CCC that you have completed up to this point, put together a numbered list of at least six presentation topics you might have an interest in researching and developing for the Week 6 assignment. Rank the topics with your strongest choice at the top of the list and the others in descending order.

Using your first-topic choice, list three APA formatted references that would be suitable as research sources to support a presentation. These should be in addition to your textbook and not come from the open Web (e.g., a Google search, a blog, and so on). The best place to look is the Chamberlain University Library.

Include your work for Parts I, II, and III in the same Word file (.docx).

Submit your assignment.

(Mock Individual Assessment1)

Mock Individual Assessment (Rough Draft)

For this assignment you are to:

    • Improve your interview and referral questions for the case vignette you selected in M1 Assignment 3.

Use the case vignette you selected in M1 Assignment 3 for this assignment.

Next, create and document a set of mock interview questions and potential referral questions to ask your client and yourself. You can determine the questions in relation to the case vignette that you choose.

You might also want to consider some of the example referral questions listed below.

Analyze all the information provided in the case vignette and begin to formulate a hypothesis as to why the individual needs referral.

Example Referral Questions:(Mock Individual Assessment1)

      • As a forensic mental health professional, what factors need to be considered in your psychological testing for the forensic assessment report?
      • What behavioral observations do you make about the client by reading the case vignette?
      • What are your assessment options in working with the client?
      • What standards and accepted psychological tests might you apply to your client in forensic settings? Select from the instruments you researched in M3 Assignment 2 RA.
      • How will you recognize and evaluate your client’s offender behaviors associated with malingering and deception?
      • What theoretical orientation do you want to use in this case for your treatment recommendations?
      • What is the case scenario you have selected?
      • What is the reason for referral?
      • What is the purpose of the forensic assessment and report?
      • What is the nature of the problem presented in your selected case vignette?
      • What is the context in which the forensic assessment report will be used?
      • What is the background of your client? What are the symptoms displayed by your client and the significance they have in this case?
      • What is the mental status of your client? Be sure to elaborate on every major component addressed in the mental status examination.
      • What interview type and approach did you use with your client?
      • What tests are appropriate to use in your forensic assessment report? Identify one intelligence test, one objective personality test, and one projective test.
      • What collateral information will you use in the process of the evaluation?
      • How will you present your impressions of the client?
    • Write a Forensic Mental Health Professional Individual Assessment Report.

Use the Forensic Mental Health Professional Individual Assessment Report template (you can download the template from this link).Attached

Evaluate and interpret the information provided to you in the case vignette that you have selected in M1 Assignment 3. Synthesize the information you collected to create a Forensic Mental Health Professional Individual Assessment Report. Your findings should be in a report format.

In a 10- to 12-page report, include only the following components:

      • Reason for Referral: Explain the objective of your case vignette analysis, clearly bringing out the aspects or reasons that motivated you to carry out the study.
      • Presentation: Create mock interview data and collateral information (you are to identify the questions to ask in the interview). Provide a synopsis of the interview. Provide data to support the mental status of your client, based on your forensic assessment report and the mental status components you have identified.
      • Current Life Situation and Background Information: Explain the problem provided in your selected case vignette using the interview and mental status data. How does the data relate to the background of your client and your behavioral observations?
      • Objective Testing: Identify the assessment instruments you would recommend to evaluate the client and explain the rationale for your recommendations. Describe the objective tests you have selected and their use. How did you apply these tests to your selected case vignette? Based on your study, what is your analysis of the symptoms displayed by your client? What ethical and multicultural issues do you need to address? You will apply what you have learned from M3 Assignment 2 RA into this section.
      • Provide your diagnostic impressions based on DSM-5 criteria. What is your principal diagnosis? What is your secondary diagnosis? Are there other conditions that may be the focus of clinical attention to consider?
      • Conclusion and Recommendations: What is your hypothesis based on the mental status examination, the interview, personality tests, and symptoms analysis? Explain your hypothesis and substantiate it, using instances from your case study. Discuss your results with conclusions and recommendations.

The final Forensic Mental Health Professional Individual Assessment Report should contain all the assigned components and the corresponding information.

Your final deliverables for this module are:(Mock Individual Assessment1)

  • Selected case vignette
  • List of interview/referral questions

Addressing Child Abuse

Addressing Child Abuse: Prevention and Intervention Strategies

(Addressing Child Abuse)

The complexity of child abuse dashes any hopes for a simple solution (Kelly, 2011). Because maltreatment is more apt to occur when several contributing factors are present, eradicating child maltreatment requires many approaches.

As one approach, American attitudes toward “acceptable” levels of punishment and poverty would have to change. American children will be abused as long as physical punishment is considered acceptable and effective and as long as poverty-stricken families live in chronic stress from simply trying to provide food and shelter. Parents also need counseling and training in parenting skills. Abuse will continue as long as parents remain ignorant of effective methods of parenting and discipline.

It would be naive to expect these changes to occur overnight. However, by focusing on some manageable factors, the risk of maltreatment can be reduced. Social supports help. When parents know they can turn to helpful adults for advice and reassurance, they better manage the stresses of childrearing that might otherwise lead to abuse. Families can also be taught more effective ways of coping with situations that might otherwise trigger abuse (Wicks-Nelson & Israel, 2006). Through role-playing sessions, parents can learn the benefits of authoritative parenting and effective ways of using feedback and modeling to regulate children’s behavior.

Providing social supports and teaching effective parenting are typically done when maltreatment and abuse have already occurred. Preventing maltreatment is more desirable and more cost effective. For prevention, one useful tool is familiar: early childhood intervention programs. Maltreatment and abuse can be cut in half when families participate for 2 or more years in intervention programs that include preschool education along with family support activities aimed at encouraging parents to become more involved in their children’s education (Reynolds & Robertson, 2003). When parents participate in these programs, they become more committed to their children’s education. This leads their children to be more successful in school, reducing a source of stress and enhancing parents’ confidence in their childrearing skills, thereby reducing the risks of maltreatment

Another successful approach focuses specifically on parenting skills in families where children are at risk for maltreatment. In one program (Bugental & Schwartz, 2009), mothers of infants at risk for abuse participated in a training program in which they learned to identify likely causes of recurring problems encountered while caring for their babies (e.g., problems associated with feeding, sleeping, crying). Then they were given help in devising methods to deal with those problems and in monitoring the effectiveness of the methods. When mothers participated in the program, they were less likely to use harsh punishment (a known risk factor for child maltreatment), and their children were less likely to suffer injuries at home (a common measure of parental neglect).

There are also effective programs targeting parents of older children who are at risk for maltreatment. One program, parent–child interaction therapy, focuses on helping parents (1) build warm and positive relationships with their children, (2) develop reasonable expectations for their children, and (3) use more effective disciplinary practices. When parents of at-risk children participate in this program, they report less stress, their behavior with their children becomes more positive (more praise and fewer commands), and critically, suspected abuse is reduced (Thomas & Zimmer-Gimbeck, 2011).

1. Discuss the relationship between parental use of corporal (physical) discipline and child abuse. Do you think that physical punishment (e.g., spanking) can be done in a responsible and healthy way? Why or why not?

2. Under what circumstances is early intervention with parents and children found to reduce later incidence of child maltreatment and abuse?

3. While quite a bit of research has focused on preventing abuse of younger children, it is also important to remember that abuse can also involve older kids. Based on the research of Thomas & Zimmer-Gimbeck (2011), what interventions can reduce such abuse?

Fostering Effective Healthcare Communication

Fostering Effective Healthcare Communication and Motivation Strategies

(Fostering Effective Healthcare Communication)

Please Do A Comment Base In This Answers. Write At Least 140 Words In Each Answer, Take Reference From (2013-2018) If Is Possible, Academic References Please Because The Teacher Check It Out One By One. SUSTANTIVE POST NEEDED

Comment 1

Communication may be described as the process by which information, understanding as well as perception are transmitted from one person to the other as an integral part of a relationship. In nursing, communication is significant and patient care needs to be improved continuously (Huber, 2017). After having the idea of improving patient, I would gather and collect data first from the published trials with the current literature which support innovation. The data I have collected I would compile it in a PowerPoint presentation that includes research information associated with the idea. Then in a staff meeting, I would present my idea. This will help me because my fellow colleagues would assist me to edit the finding and adding more information to make it perfect. I would also have some members to support me so that we can form a team. This team will join me on the board where the upper management will view the presentation. This makes the idea more realistic and only a few people can resist the change. I would present the information to the upper management verbally to ensure that the project importance is understood. I would use the corporate social responsibility model which is reproductive, standardization as well as consistency. Once the trial runs effectively, I would develop another presentation containing the stated problem and statistical research. This information can be presented using the visual graphs as well as employee accounts of experience to ensure that the idea sounds beneficial to staff, budget as well as patients (Jones, 2015). Giving visuals and the actual accounts from the employees are important when influencing the change.

Comment 2

Motivation is an essential part to everyday life, task completion and performance results. Two types of motivation to be discussed are intrinsic and extrinsic. “Intrinsic motivation is something internal, either primal (such as the need to eat) or learned (such as the knowledge of healthful eating). Extrinsic motivation is something external and may be both positive (such as rewards) or negative (such as punishment). Repeated exposure to extrinsic motivation may help create an intrinsic motivation. (Eggenberger, Sherman & Keller, 2014)

When dealing with intrinsic motivation and example that relates to me is that of knowledge of nursing skills. I placed a great deal of motivation into my everyday tasks as a nurse, from practicing proper infection control to medication management and administration. These tasks need to be completed and with precision at that. Extrinsic motivation is a little different, an example that pertains to be would be picking up overtime at work or covering shifts that need to be filled. Currently at my place of employment we are short staffed on our 11pm to 7am shift. My work is offering an incentive to those whom are willing to work of an additional $100 dollars per shift worked. This is a reward that motivated employees to pick up overtime and coverage.

“In any setting, high-performance work teams rarely occur naturally. They must be created and managed. To instill effective teamwork into health care, leaders need to recognize and emphasize its importance. They play a key role in helping a team develop the ability to collaborate effectively, build relationships and trust, innovate, and achieve results at a consistently high level.” ( Repovich, 2013) Characteristic that are essential are communication skills, team work ethics and motivation.

Computer Science Testing Scenario

Human Resources department uses a cafeteria-style approach, Computer Science Testing Assignment Scenario: SUD

(Computer Science Testing Scenario)

Question description

Testing Assignment Scenario:

You and your testing team have been tasked with testing a new benefits application that is being developed. Your company uses a flexible benefits plan, allowing company employees to customer their heal benefit plan based on personal preferences. The benefits application is expected to go live in 3 months.

Your company’s Human Resources department uses a cafeteria-style approach to provide employees with health care benefits. Each September, employees review their current benefits, modify their elections and then sign election forms. Any changes must be entered and tracked in the benefits application. For medical insurance, an employee enrolls with a preferred provider organization (PPO) or health maintenance organization (HMO). The company currently pays the monthly medical premiums for its employees. However, if an employee enrolls in a dental plan or vision plan, the employee pays a modest monthly premium for the optional plan. An employee may carry medical, dental, and/or vision coverage for one or more of his or her family members. In order to carry insurance on a family member, the employee must carry the same coverage. For example, to carry dental insurance on a spouse, the employee must also carry dental insurance on him or herself.

The benefits application must track employee information like employee ID, department ID, name, address information and office extension number. It must also track information about each insurance company to include the company number and company name. Dependent information and their relationship to the insured employee must also be tracked. An employee must be able to request an enrollment form, and Human Resources must be able to update the effective date of the health benefits on the form. In addition, the application must track the health care benefits rates for PPO and HMO, plus dental and vision rates. Benefits rates differ by employee only, employee + spouse, employee + spouse + one child, and employee + family.

Empowering Team Excellence: Nurse Management Strategies

(Empowering Team Excellence)

Question description

Discussion: Creating, Developing, and Leading Effective Teams

A critical skill for all nurse managers is the ability to create, develop, and lead effective teams. When people are part of an effective and well-functioning team, they are more productive and have a stronger commitment to the organization. Nurse managers have a responsibility to create teams that fulfill functional needs within their units or departments. These can include leadership teams, ad hoc project teams, or primary work teams.

As a nurse manager, there is a variety of ways that you can enhance team functioning. The first step is developing the structural elements of the team and then designing the team with the appropriate membership. Just as you must critically examine each application during the employment process, so will you critically examine the skills and attributes of each employee before appointing him or her to a collective team.

In this week’s Discussion, you lay the groundwork for creating and developing a team for your unit, department, or health care setting. You also identify leadership strategies that you could employ to increase the team’s organizational effectiveness.

To prepare

  • Review Chapter 5, “The Art of Effectively Facilitating Processes” from the course text, From Management to Leadership: Strategies for Transforming Health Care. Carefully examine the section, “Essential Elements of a Team” to identify the six steps of creating an effective team.
  • Consider a team you might create for your current organization or one with which you are familiar. For example, is there a project to be accomplished or a problem to be solved? Perhaps there is a need for a leadership team within your unit or department?
  • Identify the purpose or goal for your team. Then, reflect on the following questions:
    • What type of team would you create (leadership, ad hoc, or primary work team) to accomplish this purpose or goal? What are the benefits or disadvantages of creating this type of team?
    • What staff members would you want on this team? Why? How could their skill sets and positions make them effective team members?
  • Explore this week’s Learning Resources to identify leadership strategies you might employ before, during, and after the team-building phase. For example, what leadership strategies might influence synergy among team members while also increasing the effectiveness of the team?

Post a description of the team you would create, including the purpose or goal the team would serve, the team type, and the specific skills each member would contribute as well as their job positions. Describe at least two leadership strategies you could implement to help this team effectively achieve its purpose or goal.

  • Your business letter needs to be a minimum of 2 pages in length and must include the following:
    • Let MovieFlix know that you have researched the issue and what your conclusions are for their company based on your research.
    • Discuss latest developments surrounding the issue.
    • Describe what the first steps will be in helping them to resolve their issue. Explain why it’s important that these be the first steps and what your role will be in helping them to implement these first steps.
  • Because this is a formal business letter, tone and grammar are extremely important.
