Provide a 1-page description of a stressful event currently occurring in your life. Then, referring to information you learned throughout this course, address the following:

  • What physiological changes occur in the brain due to the stress response?
  • What emotional and cognitive effects might occur due to this stressful situation?
  • Would the above changes (physiological, cognitive, or emotional) be any different if the same stress were being experienced by a person of the opposite sex or someone much older or younger than you?
  • If the situation continues, how might your physical health be affected?
  • What three behavioral strategies would you implement to reduce the effects of this stressor? Describe each strategy. Explain how each behavior could cause changes in brain physiology (e.g., exercise can raise serotonin levels).
  • If you were encouraging an adult client to make the above changes, what ethical considerations would you have to keep in mind? How would you address those ethical considerations?

In addition to citing the online course and the text, you are also required to cite a minimum of two scholarly sources. Please see the Academic Resources section under Course Home to use the Argosy University online library to find appropriate scholarly sources. For reputable web sources, look for .gov or .edu sites as opposed to .com sites. Please do not use Wikipedia.

Evaluating Outcomes Through Scenarios

Evaluating Outcomes Through Scenarios

(Evaluating Outcomes Through Scenarios)

Case Study: Evaluating Ashford University Institutional And Program Outcomes

Prior to completing this assignment, read the Ashford University Institutional Outcomes located on the Syllabus page for this course. Additionally, read the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Program Outcomes. (pg. 248) located within the Online Undergraduate Programs section of the Ashford University 2013-2014 Academic Catalog.

After reviewing the information provided above, you will create a two- to three-page case study focusing on professional and personal scenarios (they can be real or hypothetical) in which you evaluate your learning as it contributes to the overall attainment of Ashford University’s institutional outcomes and the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program outcomes.

In the body of your paper:

  1. Discuss the Ashford University institutional outcomes and the program outcomes by identifying their relevance to a profession in psychology.
  2. Create one personal life example and one career example in which you (or a fictitious person) struggle with personal challenges and an ethical dilemma (e.g., a client or research subject reveals compromising information about a friend or family member who also happens to be someone you know in a personal/social context).
  3. After identifying the problem, include a section wherein you address each of the following prior to making a decision about a course of action:
    • From your point of view, what is the problem?
    • From the point of view of other individuals, what is the problem?
    • What are the options? What are potential consequences of the options?
    • What are the risks of each potential solution?
    • What are the risks of not resolving the challenges effectively?
    • What evidence/data do you have to assist you in decision making?
  4. Apply the competencies gained at Ashford University (from the institutional and program outcomes) to identify the preferred resolutions to the situations you identified in #2 above. Select at least three competencies that are most relevant to your scenarios. Be specific in your discussion of the scenarios and provide details demonstrating professional problem solving in your case study.
  5. Conclude the case study with how you resolved the problem (the outcome) and what you learned while at Ashford University that assisted you in deciding on an effective resolution. You may also identify additional competencies used to resolve the problem that are not included in the institutional and program outcomes.
  6. Utilize at least one scholarly source as a basis for the evidence you will use to rationalize the decision-making process. All sources must be documented in APA style, as outlined by the Ashford Writing Center.

Research Methods in Biopsychology

Research Methods in Biopsychology

Research methods in biopsychology involve the use of various scientific techniques to study the relationships between biological processes and behavior. Key methods include experimental studies, neuroimaging techniques, and electrophysiological recordings. Experimental studies often involve manipulating biological variables, such as neurotransmitter levels, and observing the resulting behavioral changes. Neuroimaging techniques, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and positron emission tomography (PET), allow researchers to visualize brain activity and structure in vivo, providing insights into how different brain regions are involved in specific behaviors.

Electrophysiological methods, including electroencephalography (EEG) and single-cell recordings, measure electrical activity in the brain, offering real-time data on neural processes. Additionally, genetic techniques, such as genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and gene editing (CRISPR), help identify genetic contributions to behavior. Animal models are frequently used to explore neural mechanisms underlying behavior due to the ability to control and manipulate experimental conditions rigorously.

Overall, these methods enable biopsychologists to investigate complex interactions between the brain, genetics, and behavior, contributing to a deeper understanding of mental processes and disorders. The integration of multiple research methods allows for comprehensive analyses and the development of effective interventions for various psychological and neurological conditions.

PSYCHOLOGY DISCUSSSION

To properly understand how biopsychology works, it is important that you understand how researchers test their ideas. Chapter 4, “The Methods and Ethics of Research,” in Brain & Behavior introduces four different research designs:

1. Naturalistic observation.

2. Case study.

3. Survey.

4. Experiment.

Each of these research designs is used in studying brain and behavior, yet they all have their shortcomings. In Unit 1, you were instructed to use Databases A-Z in the Capella University Library to find 2–3 peer-reviewed journal articles (published within the last 10 years) that focused on one of the following topics:

· Neurobiology of ecstasy (MDMA) abuse.

· Progression of reading ability in a child diagnosed with autism.

· Effectiveness of a new drug to treat depression.

You then selected one of these topics and identified which of the four designs was used in each of the articles you reviewed, such as naturalistic observation, case study, survey, or experiment. In your response to this discussion:

· Identify your topic of choice.

o Which of these methods was used in each research article?

o What were the key variables in the hypothesis or phenomena of interest?

o Was the hypothesis supported or refuted in the analysis?

o Were the research questions answered?

· Explain, based on your understanding of the requirements for a safe and ethical study gained from your readings, whether the study was (or was not) conducted safely and ethically by the authors.

· Provide evidence from the articles to support your views by citing sources in your discussion post.

Submit your discussion post by Wednesday.

Exploring I/O Psychology Essentials

Exploring I/O Psychology Essentials

(Exploring I/O Psychology Essentials)

Industrial/Organizational (I/O) psychology focuses on understanding and improving the interaction between people and organizations. This field applies psychological principles and research methods to address issues in the workplace, aiming to enhance both employee well-being and organizational effectiveness.

Key areas of I/O psychology include personnel selection, where psychologists develop methods to identify the best candidates for specific roles; training and development, which involves creating programs to improve employee skills and performance; and performance appraisal, which assesses and provides feedback on employee performance.

Another critical area is organizational behavior, which examines how individuals and groups interact within organizations and how these dynamics impact overall performance. I/O psychologists also work on designing work environments and processes to boost productivity and job satisfaction.

Research in I/O psychology often involves studying motivation, leadership, work stress, and team dynamics, using techniques such as surveys, experiments, and observational studies. By applying their findings, I/O psychologists help organizations develop fair hiring practices, improve employee training programs, and create healthier work environments, ultimately contributing to the success and well-being of both employees and organizations.

Exploring I/O Psychology Essentials

You will be researching and learning about the world of I/O psychology. Please take the time to tackle each question and research it thoroughly, as this information will build the foundation for this course. There is a lot of information out there on the WWW, so feel free to visit you tube, Google, the American Psychological Association, and anywhere else your curiosity leads you. DO NOT PLAGUARIZE! Work will be checked and not accepted if previously used by someone else!!

You must put the information in your own words and cite your sources. You should put your APA citations after each paragraph indicating where you found this information.  PAY ATTENTION AND RE-READ SO YOU DO THIS ASSIGNMENT CORRECTLY AND WE HAVE NO ISSUES!!!

Here is an example of one question showing how citing should look after each question:

1. What does the field of I/O psychology study? How is it applied in the work place? (4-6 sentences)

The study of I/O psychology is taking what we know about human behavior and applying it to the workplace. I/O psychology is like human resources management, but with a more scientific edge to it. I/O psychology is applied in the workplace by personnel selection, to developing training programs, and performance appraisal systems. There’s an attention on employment laws, and EEOC compliance. The field of I/O study also teaches about psychological tests, psychological testing, how to evaluate tests and how to develop psychological measures which all benefit the workplace and the well-being of employees.

    Assignment 2: Project Motorcycles
Due Week 4 and worth 250 points

You are a project manager for a medium-sized manufacturer of motorcycle cruisers. The engines in motorcycle cruisers, like the ones you manufacture, are usually categorized by size rather than the number of cylinders. In the past, your company has successfully manufactured and marketed the best-selling of these fuel-efficient cruisers that occupy the middleweight class. The rather nebulous middleweight class comprises motorcycles broadly ranging in engine size from 500 cubic centimeters, or cc, to 1000 cc.

Executives at your company are now interested in motorcycles with larger motors and would eventually like to produce motorcycles in the touring class, specifically designed to excel at covering long distances with motors larger than 1100 cc. The proposed target market for these larger motorcycles consists of males between the ages of 35 and 60 in global markets. Price points for the larger motorcycles cover income ranges from $55,000 to $100,000. Management has decided that your company will meet the objectives stated herein within the next five (5) years. During the proposed changeover, the company will continue to manufacture the middleweight cruisers to serve its existing clientele.

Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:

    1. Select one (1) of the types of project organization that would suit the development of the larger touring class motorcycles. Outline the process steps that your company would take in order to develop the motorcycle. Provide a rationale for the response.
    2. Recommend one (1) strategy to the senior executives that the organization might use to balance short- and long-term needs. Specify the crucial resources that you would need as a project manager to run the existing business interests at the same time that the business changes to the production of touring class motorcycles.
    3. Suggest the project management leadership style that is most conducive to overseeing the operation of the business growth plan.
    4. Recommend at least three (3) risk mitigation strategies to address project plan details that might be forgotten or overlooked. Justify the selection.5.Use at least three (3) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not quality as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:(Project Management Motorcycle Strategy)

    • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
    • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
