Combining Nurse Leader & Advocacy

Combining Nurse Leader & Advocacy

(Combining Nurse Leader & Advocacy)

Combining nurse leadership with advocacy is essential for driving meaningful change in healthcare. Nurse leaders possess the expertise and influence to shape policies, improve patient outcomes, and advance the profession. By integrating advocacy into their leadership roles, nurses can amplify their impact and advocate for the needs of both patients and fellow healthcare providers.

Nurse leaders can advocate for patient-centered care by promoting initiatives that prioritize quality, safety, and accessibility. They can also champion policies that address social determinants of health, such as access to healthcare services, affordable housing, and nutritious food, to ensure equitable care for all individuals.

Furthermore, nurse leaders can advocate for their profession by promoting education and training opportunities, advocating for fair compensation and working conditions, and raising awareness of the crucial role nurses play in healthcare delivery.

Through effective advocacy, nurse leaders can influence decision-makers, engage stakeholders, and mobilize communities to enact positive change. By combining their leadership skills with a commitment to advocacy, nurses can drive systemic improvements, ultimately enhancing the quality of care and advancing health equity for diverse populations.

Nursing Leadership/Discussion

Nursing Leadership/Discussion

(Nursing Leadership/Discussion)

Part 1

My post

Hello class and Professor,

The advent of the technological era has been linked to improved patient outcomes. Most of the technologies in place are patient-centered and are aimed at improving the quality of care and service delivery. At the facility I work for, there are several technologies in place. The most recent is the point of care technology. As much as this technology is in its initial stages of implementation, the benefits have had profound effects on the operations of nursing. This technology allows nurses to access patient data such as X-rays and medication directly from the bedside. This is achieved through linked computers placed at the bedside of patients to ensure that their records can easily be accessed (Adam, 2017).

Considering that the facility has not yet adopted electronic health records, the point of care technology comes with great significance to the hospital. Through the technology, time is saved which would have otherwise been used to access the documents physically. This also allows for easier update of the patient information ensuring that they stay up to date. Point of care technology also ensures that nursing practice focuses on patient-centered care (Adam, 2017). This means that the patient is engaged in making decisions, follow-ups, and education to better their health.

The facility should, however, consider the importance of implementing electronic health records to complement the point of care technology. With electronic records coupled with this technology, nurses will have diverse alert systems such as mobile phones and tablets to ensure that they can access patient data away from the bedside.

Part2

Professor Comments and question

It is really interesting that your organization has not implemented the electronic health record (EHR). The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act of 2009 provided $35 billion dollars for organizations to implement electronic health records. The incentive did not cover the entire costs of implementation to organizations, but are mandatory to meet the requirements for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System, or MIPS which will start in 2019. Do you think the organization will change to the EHR in the near future?

Part 3/another students comments and question

I found your topic very interesting. Prior to working on the PCU unit at a hospital, my last employer was just in the process of implementing EMR. They were actually using paper charts. It is interesting that some health care organizations are behind when it comes to information technology. Do you think that this could be due to cost? I think cost was the major reason as to why my prior employer was slow to using EMR.

software project: computer science

software project: develop a pizza ordering application,
computer science homework help

(software project: computer science)

Question description

You have been asked to develop a pizza ordering application. Here is the information your manager just shared with you about this software development project.

The pizza ordering application allows customers with a web browser to order pizza for home delivery. To place an order, a customer would search to find items to purchase (specialty pizzas, sodas, desserts, salads, etc.), and then add items one at a time to a shopping cart. They could also view a page that showed the daily special. The customer could search again for more items if they wanted. They would also have the option to build their own pizza with as many toppings as they liked. When all items were chosen, the customer would see the cost of their order, and also be prompted to provide a delivery address for that specific order. If not paying with cash, the customer would provide credit or debit card information for use on the current order. The system should have an option for customers to register with the pizza shop. They could then save their name, address information and e-mail address, so that they wouldn’t have to enter this information every time they placed an order. If they didn’t want to save their personal details on the site, they could register their e-mail address only, which would let them receive coupons and updates on special promotions.

To complete this assignment, make assumptions as needed–just be sure to document any assumptions you make.  Remember:  “When in doubt sound convincing.”

1.  Identify the following information about the pizza ordering application:
a.  Purpose or goal of the system
b.  Primary user(s) of the system
2.  Generate an Activity UML diagram that starts with the customer connecting with the web site and ends with the driver receiving the address (along with the pizza).  I am looking for a very focused and specific UML Activity diagram here.  I want the diagram to show me the process of what happens between the time that the customer connects to the website and the driver gets the pizza and address.  Note that the cooks will also interact with the process at some point – identify the step or steps where the cook interacts with the system.  Number each element of the activity diagram.  The activity diagram must contain a minimum of 10 elements.
3.  Using the activity diagram created for step 2, generate 20 User stories.  For each User story, identify the User (customer, cook, or driver), and the element of the activity diagram you are using to generate this user story.  The user stories must be of the form “As a <Role> I need to <function> so that <reason or justification>”.
4.  Using the user stories created in step 3, generate 25 System requirements.  The requirement must be of the form “The system shall…”.  Points will be deducted for statements that use should instead or statements that use an alternate format.

5.  Produce a Use Case UML diagram that contains a minimum of the Customer, the Cook, and the Driver.  Review the User stories from step 3 for ideas as to the features to include in the Use Case diagram, but all features need not be included.
6.  Using the requirements produced for number 4 above, produce 30 system tests.  Review assignment 8.3 for an example of what good test step should look like.  For each test, identify the Requirement, the User story, and the Activity UML block from which this test derives.
7.  Identify whether a plan-driven “waterfall” software development approach or an agile framework or methodology might be more suitable for this software development project. Explain your recommendation.

8.  Identify at least five evolution and maintenance related items that should be considered when planning to develop the pizza ordering software application.
9.  Identify ten or more risks that could develop with this project. What is the probability or likelihood that each risk might occur, and what would be the effect to your pizza ordering application if it did? What is your plan to avoid, minimize or recover from (i.e., contingency plan) each of these risks if they were to occur?  Present your risk analysis as a Risk Register in a tabular format, with the highest impacts/effects listed first.
10.  Assume that SCRUM is being used for this project.  Rank your user stories from number 3 and assign them to four different two week sprints.  Identify which user stories should be completed in each sprint.

Ethical Decision Making

Ethical Decision Making: Prison Counseling

(Ethical Decision Making)

In prison counseling, ethical decision-making is paramount due to the vulnerable and often complex nature of the clients’ circumstances. Counselors must adhere to strict confidentiality while balancing the safety concerns of both the individual and the broader prison community. Maintaining professional boundaries is crucial to avoid any potential exploitation or harm. Counselors should prioritize the well-being and rehabilitation of their clients, striving to empower them to make positive changes while respecting their autonomy and choices.

Additionally, cultural competence is essential in understanding and respecting the diverse backgrounds and experiences of incarcerated individuals. This includes recognizing the impact of systemic injustices such as racism and socioeconomic disparities on their lives.

Ethical decision-making in prison counseling also involves advocating for adequate resources and support services within the prison system to address the mental health needs of inmates effectively. Counselors must navigate potential conflicts of interest, such as when addressing issues that may impact a client’s legal status or interactions with prison authorities, always prioritizing the best interests of the individual while upholding professional standards and legal obligations.

(Ethical Decision Making)

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, please read the following required articles:

  • “Relations Between Inductive Reasoning and Deductive Reasoning”
  • “The Effect of the Environment (Real and Virtual) and The Personality on the Speed of Decision Making”
  • “Decision-Making Theories and Models: A Discussion of Rational and Psychological Decision-Making Theories and Models: The Search for a Cultural-Ethical Decision-Making Model”
  • “Seven Basic Steps to Solving Ethical Dilemmas in Special Education: A Decision-Making Framework”
  • “Looking for a Psychology for the Inner Rational Agent”

Play the expert in the following scenario and apply ethical principles and professional standards of decision-making to your rationale and actions:

  • You are a counseling psychologist in a state prison. You have been counseling a new inmate, and he confided in you that one of the other inmates has indicated he is considering suicide. He does not divulge the name of the other inmate and refuses to talk any further about the issue. Consider the following steps in your decision-making process:
    • Define the problem.
    • Explore the alternatives.
    • Consider the consequences.
    • Identify ethical considerations.
    • Determine how you would reduce bias in your decision-making process.
    • Explain your decision.

Using appropriate citations and references, explain how the empirical research and theoretical models presented in the assigned articles suggest the importance of applying decision-making strategies in one’s own practice. Support your argument with empirical research.

Forensic Psychology Booklet

Forensic Psychology Booklet

(Forensic Psychology Booklet)

Potential students often look for guidance regarding the programs that they are considering. You are a program assistant at a local university. You have been asked by your department chair (psychology) to create a booklet about the field of forensic psychology for potential students. This booklet will be given out at information sessions and will be sent to students requesting more information. The department chair asks you to create this booklet with the undecided student in mind, remembering that while you don’t want to scare students away, you also want to be truthful about the field. She asks for the following information to be included:

  • A description of the educational levels required and recommended (i.e. what can a MA level forensic psychologist do, versus a Doctorate level professional). Different roles that a forensic psychologist can take. This can include roles in the court and out as well as research possibilities. (2 pages)
  • A discussion of each of the following and discuss why is it important that all forensic psychologists need to be well-versed in them (3 pages):
      • Case Law
      • Specific Amendments to the U.S. Constitution and why they are important
      • Important past research in the field
      • Diversity issues
      • Ethical considerations
  • An analysis of at least three aspects of the American judicial system (such as eyewitness testimony, transfer of juveniles to criminal court, etc.), which are impacted most heavily by psychology and psychological research (3 pages). Be sure to discuss:
      • Three aspects of the American judicial system
      • How psychology has impacted these aspects
      • One research study for each aspect that is considered pivotal, classic or ground breaking in the field.

Your booklet needs to be at least 8 pages long. Because it is an informational booklet, it will not be formatted like a formal paper, but should be professionally and attractively presented. Please remember that all citations should follow APA formatting rules, and the majority of the information should be in a formal academic writing style. However, a minority of the information can be written in bulleted format.

Clinical Assessment and Interventions

Week 10 Exam: Clinical Assessment and Interventions

(Clinical Assessment and Interventions)

This week, you will be assessed on the use of diagnosis, assessment, and intervention in a multiple-choice final exam. This exam is modeled in the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Exam (NCMHCE) format that is used in many states as their licensure exam and for the Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) national certification. As opposed to other exams where you are asked to recall specific facts, this exam is based on case scenarios where you will apply your clinical problem-solving ability to assess, diagnose, and treat crisis and trauma situations. You will focus on identifying “the best answer”—as opposed to the “correct” answer. This means that each question contains more than one correct answer, but only one answer is the best. As “best answer” exams require a great deal of discernment, be sure to read each question carefully, look for the correct answers, and then discern the “best” answer. Taking a comprehensive exam in this format will pay off in the end when you sit for the NCMHCE in the future. I need this completed by 11/02/18 at 7pm. .

QUESTION 1

1. Case #1 – Jenna(Clinical Assessment and Interventions)

Jenna is a six-year-old Caucasian female who currently resides with her foster parents, her older biological sister, and two foster brothers. Jenna and her siblings were taken from her biological parents because of suspected sexual abuse and neglect. It is reported that Jenna lived in a home without food, water, and utilities. Jenna’s foster parents report that her biological mother “may have some disabilities and has never had the financial means to take care of her children.” Jenna’s biological brother is in a separate foster home. He is suspected of sexually abusing both Jenna and her older sister. It has been reported that he sexually abused Jenna, while her sister was helplessly told to watch. Jenna has expressed this trauma with agitated behavior. The traumatic event is re-experienced by repetitive play where she stimulates herself on furniture. Jenna avoids the stimuli associated with the trauma by avoiding conversations associated with sexual abuse. Jenna avoids activities, places, and people associated with the trauma except for her sister who was also a victim. Jenna also has a sense of a foreshortened future. She frequently brings up death with her foster parents. Jenna has persistent symptoms of increased arousal that were not present before the trauma as indicated by irritability and outbursts of anger nearly every day with her biological sister and her foster father. Jenna is also hyper vigilant and does not want her foster father around. The disturbances have lasted for over a month and have caused clinically significant social impairment to the point she is unable to attend a full day of school due to emotional breakdowns.

Study Proposal and Budget

Grant Proposal – Proposed Study, Budget, And Draft Grant Proposal

(Study Proposal and Budget)

I need this paper today before  19:00 pacific standard time zone . follow the instructions clearly.  I have attached 3 papers to this asignment  one of them is this week paper that I did and the grades were not so good . here are the remarks from the instructor that can make it easy :

This feedback only relates to the Proposed Study, Budget Justification, and Budget sections of the grant proposal which comprise the Week 4 Assignment.

I encourage you to ensure that you include all the heading from the Sample Grant Proposal Template and grant Proposal Guidelines.  For example, the Week 4 Assignment comprised of the Proposed Study, Budget Justification, and Budget sections, but the headings for the Proposed Study sections (Participants, Procedures, and Hypotheses) were missing from your paper.  Therefore, as presented, you did not address the Proposed Study sections mentioned above, just the Budget Justification and Budget sections.  I encourage you to review the Sample Grant Proposal Template and Grant Proposal Guidelines for the best way in which to present each section, including the Budget.  I encourage you to address this issue in your Week 6 full grant proposal.

Also, you are requesting a lot less than the total available budget ($60,000), therefore, given that some grant funding is “use it or lose it”, consider how you can use all $60,000 for your study and adjust your study design and budget accordingly for the full grant proposal in Week 6.

This week you will write the Proposed Study and Budget sections of your Grant Proposal. The Proposed Study section will resemble a typical methods section like the one you would write in an empirical paper (except that the data have not yet been collected). In this section you will describe the study that you are proposing to conduct to test your hypothesis.

You will also write the Budget Justification section and the Budget for your grant proposal. The Budget Justification section will contain a description of your proposed budget including how grant funds will be used and justifying costs. Proposed costs must be reasonable, necessary and allocable to carry out the project’s goals and objectives.

The Budget, which will be Appendix A of your grant proposal, will follow the format of the budget in the Sample Grant Proposal Template (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., Appendix A . There is also a Budget Calculation spreadsheet (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. that you can use to determine the direct and indirect costs for your proposed study.

After writing the Proposed Study,  Budget Justification and Budget sections, combine them with the completed sections you have done in Weeks Two and Three (with feedback incorporated), and create the first draft of your grant proposal. Submit your draft grant proposal this week for the Week Five Grant Proposal – Peer Review assignment.

See the Grant Proposal Guidelines (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for detailed instructions on writing your grant proposal. See the Sample Grant Proposal Template (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. as an example of an actual proposal and use it as a template for your grant proposal.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.

Limericks About Neuroscience

Limericks About Neuroscience

( Limericks About Neuroscience)

For this assignment, you’ll write three limericks about neuroscience.  A limerick is a miniature poem. Here’s an example, about neuroplasticity:

It’s a fortunate person whose brain
Is trained early, again and again,
And who continues to use it
To be sure not to lose it,
So the brain, in old age, may not wane.

Each of your three limericks should be five lines long, and should obey the conventional limerick rhyming structure (AABBA; the first, second, and fifth lines should rhyme with each other, and the third and fourth should rhyme as well).  Usually the first, second, and fifth lines are a little longer than the third and fourth lines.

One of your limericks should be about neurons, one of your limericks should be about a neurotransmitter of your choice, and one of your limericks should be about a brain structure, region, or lobe of your choice.  Your limericks should each present accurate and thoughtful descriptions of their biological functions, and their role in psychology.

Your submission, like all reflection assignments, will be graded according to the following rubric:

  • ONE POINT: Consistently addresses assignment instructions with irrelevant information, ignores instructions, or provides superficial, incomplete, or unwarranted responses to the instructions.
  • TWO POINTS: Mostly addresses the assignment instructions, but includes misinterpretations of evidence, faulty conclusions, or presents claims that are not consistent.  Two points will be given if the submission is reasonably complete, but still appears to have been given minimal thought and critical analysis.
  • THREE POINTS: Consistently addresses the assignment instructions with accurate interpretations of evidence, identifies the most important aspects of the topic, and presents conclusions that demonstrate thoughtful analysis and evaluation.

Your limericks must be written originally, by you.  Submissions will be processed through TurnItIn.com to ensure their originality.
