Research project: leadership theory

Research project: leadership theory

(Research project: leadership theory)

Question description

Firstly,I want you to know that if you cannot fully follow the instruction I give you below, you do not take this job! I am serious! Here is the instruction:The individual/team research project is designed to answer one key question:  using a unique theory of leadership, how does leadership and ethical behavior affect employee performance? Phase I:  Theory→Hypotheses:  In this first phase, a theory is built about leadership behavior or leader ethical behavior and how those behaviors impact employee performance.  Using text material, research, readings, and in-depth interviews (each will interview at least 4 people; the people interviewed must be employed full-time and not attending our University, and hopefully, those interviewed will be as different from one another as possible).  The specific interview questions will be left up to you, but you should explore the interview subjects’ beliefs about which leadership or ethical behaviors are important, and how these behaviors affect employee performance.  Let them tell you what is important!  Do not provide a set of concepts for them!  For example, one interview question might be:  “When you think about times that you had good leadership, what specific leader behaviors contributed to how you performed?” or “When you think about good ethical leaders, what behaviors stand out as being particularly effective in changing employee behavior/performance?”  Your project can focus on the concepts in this course, but should go beyond those concepts as well. Phase II:  Interview Method Description:  This section of your research paper should describe your interview participants (no names or other identifying information), the questions asked in the interviews, the participants’ responses to the interview questions, and the themes/concepts that emerged from the interviews. Phase III:  Incorporate Interview Data into Theory and Hypotheses:  Once your interviews are completed, you will distill the most interesting themes from your interviews and convert those into specific predictions that can be tested with data.  Hypotheses can focus on the concepts in this course, but (again) should go beyond these concepts as well.  Feel free to focus on the concepts that interest you or your team.  Incorporate your interview data into your Leadership Theory.  Explicitly show the changes you made to your original Leadership Theory based on the interviews.  Express your theory in diagram form.Phase IV:  Recommendations for practicing managers:  Use this section of your paper to make recommendations to practicing managers based on your theory and the interview data that you collected.  No two individuals/teams may present the same leadership theory.  To meet the threshold for a B grade, no fewer than 10, non-textbook, relevant references must be used and cited [use the APA Publication Manual for citation style; this is very important for electronic sources–Internet, etc.].  At least ten sources are required; with at least eight of those sources from current (2011-2015), reputable, peer-reviewed journals.  The other sources may include academic and professional periodicals, government publications (to include CD ROM resources), magazines, and newspaper articles.  All work submitted must be the original work of the student(s), and will be checked for originality using online software (Turnitin.com).  Plagiarism will result in a failing grade for the project, and possible for the course [see Cheating Policy].  This paper should be between 10 and 14 pages in length—hopefully no more than 15 pages.  Number all pages and use American Psychological Association (APA) format, 12-point font, double-spacing (LS = 2), paragraph indention, section headings, and submit in MS-Word format. It need include a title page, executive summary, research report body including introduction, theory/problem/issue, and recommendations/suggestions for managers, (at least one) graphic(s), and references page.  Grades will be based on scholarship, application of course material, use of course research concepts, coherence, reference quality, format, and grammatical correctness, and all research projects will be rated and/or ranked within the class, and grades assigned accordingly (in line with the ratings/rankings).  Your work should look business-like and professional. Written assignments displaying disproportionately poor grammar or a poor quality of written communication skills will be assigned a grade that is at least one letter grade lower than might otherwise have been assigned.  Use Turnitin.com (instructions to be provided in class) to establish the originality of all workBEFORE it is submitted for grading if requested by your instructor.  The Research Project will be due March 20EXAMPLES OF REPUTABLE JOURNALS (primarily in Management & Psychology, and mostly Peer-Reviewed):Academy of Management Journal; Academy of Management Review; Administrative Science Quarterly; Organization Science; Strategic Management Journal; Management Science; Leadership Quarterly; Organizational Behavior & Human Decision Processes; Journal of Management; Journal of Management Studies; Journal of Applied Psychology; Journal of Vocational Behavior; Journal of Organizational Behavior; Personnel Psychology; Psychological Bulletin; Journal of Personality & Social Psychology; Human Relations; Journal of Occupational & Organizational Psychology; Harvard Business Review; Applied Psychology: International Review; American Psychologist. The following file is my textbook, we have learned it though chapter 1-chapter 6,So you need to choose topic form trait approach, behavior approach, path-goal theory, situational theory, contingency theory, ethical theory. The text book is Northouse, P. G. (2016). Leadership: Theory and practice (7th ed.). Thousand Oaks, CA: SAGE Publications. You can ask for the information from the textbook if you need to help with your writing. My professor is very strict, if you don’t have enough knowledge about leadership. Preparing For Change

Preparing for Change

(Preparing For Change)

What steps might be utilized to move a practice issue from development and design through implementation to the realization of positive outcomes? How does theory provide a framework? What barriers might you encounter?

To prepare:

  • Review the theories and frameworks (i.e.,      change, organizational, behavioral) presented in Chapter 3 of the course      text, Translation of Evidence into Nursing and Health Care      Practice, and conduct additional research of your own. What insights do      these theories provide regarding how to take your practice issue from      development and design through implementation to the realization of      positive outcomes?
  • Think about your practicum setting and evaluate      the readiness for change in this environment. Identify barriers and      facilitators for change.
  • Consider strategies to address the barriers and      assess why they might be effective based on theory.

By tomorrow Wednesday 10/17/18 at 12 pm, write a minimum of 550 words essays in APA format with at least 3 references (see attached files) from the list of REQUIRED READINGS below. Include the headers as numbered below:

Post a cohesive scholarly response that addresses the following:

1) Assess the readiness for change in your hospital environment. Discuss those factors: (a) barriers and (b) facilitators that need to be considered (see attached chapter 15 in the file area)

2) Identify a theory or framework that will guide your change efforts. (see attached chapter 3 in the file area)

3) Discuss strategies to address barriers and provide one or more insights regarding why you think they might be effective based on theory.

Enhancing Central Line Management Education

Enhancing Central Line Management Education

(Enhancing Central Line Management Education)

PART 1

First week I created PICOT ,

n hospitalized adult patients, how does an educational program on central line management compare to no educational program in the prevention of central line-associated bloodstream infections?
P: Patients with Central lines in MICU or hospitalized
I: educational interventions for staff and patients.
C  Educational program compare to no educational program.
O: decrease rate  of CLABSIs
T: within 90 days of process improvement implementation.
I am interested in Central line bloodstream infections (CLABIS).by using educational initiative could decrease the rate of catheter-associated bloodstream infection. mandatory education program offered to  ICU nurses and physicians. it was developed by a multidisciplinary task force to highlight correct practices for the prevention of catheter-associated bloodstream infection.
In this program, they included  10-page self-study module on risk factors and practice modifications involved in catheter-related bloodstream infections and in-services at scheduled staff meetings for their staff. Seventy-four episodes of catheter-associated bloodstream infection occurred in 7,879 catheter-days in the 24 months before the introduction of the education program.
Following implementation educational of the intervention, the rate of catheter-associated bloodstream infection decreased to 41 episodes in 7,455 catheter days. The estimated cost savings secondary to the decreased rate of catheter-associated bloodstream infection for the 24 months following the introduction of the education program was between $103,600 and $1,573,000.
Educational intervention main focused on the education of health-care providers on the prevention of catheter-associated bloodstream infections. it may lead to a dramatic decrease in the incidence of primary bloodstream infections. Education programs may lead to a substantial decrease in medical-care costs and patient morbidity attributed to central venous catheterization when implemented as part of mandatory training.

Professional Portfolio: Personal Statement

Assignment 2: Professional Portfolio—Personal Statement/Cover Letter

(Professional Portfolio: Personal Statement)

For this assignment, you will submit the second document to be included in your Professional Portfolio: Your personal statement or a cover letter. As you near completion of your undergraduate education, you have probably been reflecting on your personal and professional development and goals. Summarizing so much personal information on paper is not easy, but it’s important. Many employers complain that in interviews and job applications, students do not seem to know how to articulate the skills and strengths that they bring to the job.

In preparation for writing the personal statement/cover letter, review Dr. Margaret A. Lloyd’s Web site at: http://www.psywww.com/careers/index.htm.  Learn what you can do with your bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Determine if you will pursue graduate school or employment upon graduation. Note choices that seem to apply to you and why. If more than one, rank these choices. Describe any concerns you might have regarding your interests. What level of education will you need to pursue? Have you taken any previous courses or trained in this area? These links in particular should be helpful:

For this assignment, find a graduate program (if you are preparing your Professional Portfolio with the Graduate School focus) or a job opening that you would like to apply to (if you are preparing your Professional Portfolio with the Employment focus). Look up the details for the application requirements, and tailor your personal statement/cover letter to these specific graduate school/job requirements.

Personal Statement (for those with the Graduate School focus)

This essay may be the single most influential component of a graduate school application. The statement you write for this portfolio gives you a forum for presenting yourself to the admissions committee, scholarship committee, and others who want to know something about you.

In preparation for writing the statement, read the document “Preparing Personal Statements” at: http://www.creighton.edu/soar/preparingapps/statements/. Here are a few of their suggestions:

  • find and use your voice
  • use concrete examples of what you’ve done
  • avoid generalizations, such as “I’m good with people”
  • proofread and edit (and ask others to proofread and make suggestions about) your statement to be sure it is free of grammatical and typographical errors, and informal language, “I’m okay with sciences but weak in math”

Cover Letter (for those with the Employment focus)

A cover letteris a way to introduce yourself to a potential employer. This letter should include details about yourself and why you feel you are qualified for the position. Summarize your undergraduate experiences, your strengths and weaknesses, the reasons you are applying and how they will help you meet your professional goals.

Write a cover letter to a prospective employer. The letter, which should accompany your resume, should summarize why you are interested in the job and what qualifications and skills make you an ideal candidate or match for the position. Limit your letter to one page.

Follow this link for advice on writing a cover letter: http://www.uwec.edu/ORSP/IRB/about/submit/Cover-Letter.htm.

Submit your Personal Statement or Cover Letter to the M2: Assignment 2 Dropbox by Wednesday, August 5, 2015.

Counselor Ethics & Responsibilities Paper

Counselor Ethics & Responsibilities Paper

(Counselor Ethics & Responsibilities Paper)

Counselor ethics and responsibilities are foundational principles that guide the professional conduct and practice of counselors. Ethics in counseling emphasize the importance of confidentiality, respect for client autonomy, and the commitment to do no harm. Counselors are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of integrity, competence, and objectivity in their interactions with clients.

Key ethical considerations include informed consent, which ensures that clients understand the nature and purpose of counseling, as well as the limits of confidentiality. Additionally, counselors must demonstrate cultural competence, recognizing and respecting the diversity of clients’ backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities extend beyond individual clients to the broader community, with counselors advocating for social justice and equitable access to mental health services. Upholding ethical guidelines builds trust between counselors and clients, fostering a safe and supportive therapeutic environment. Continual self-reflection and adherence to ethical codes are essential for counselors to uphold their professional responsibilities and provide effective, ethical care to those they serve.

Participant Observation: Gender Roles Study

Participant Observation: A Study in Gender Roles

(Participant Observation: Gender Roles Study )

Have you ever thought about how much of everyday life is organized by gender? When you stop to think about it, much of what most people do during the routine of a normal day is categorized as either masculine or feminine. From the soap you use for that morning shower to the restroom you use when are work, much of what we do is influenced — even dictated — by what society says is appropriate because of our biological sex.

To explore this concept of a gendered society in more depth, you will use the Participant Observation Checklist to organize and conduct your research to identify and explain two examples of how society is segmented by gender at any single location in your community. You might choose a park, a grocery store, your favorite pub or fast food restaurant, a department store, or the local hardware store. Remember that you should be acting in both the participant and observer roles. Look around to see if there are obvious signs that gender determines some aspect of how people act in that location. Then, use the structural functional theory to explain how separating events, actions, or even merchandize by gender works to keep the overall society stable.

For example, if you chose to observe as a casual shopper in department store, one obvious sign that gender is important in how the store is organized is that there are likely two different departments for women’s and men’s clothing. That same department store would likely have restrooms designated for ladies and gentlemen, too. The structural-functional perspective would suggest that separating the clothing by gender makes it more convenient for shoppers to find what they want, and separate restrooms for men and women are thought to be necessary for reasons of modesty that are part of stable cultural patterns of behavior within this society.

Instructions:

Complete the Participant Observation checklist to assist you with organizing your research and to take notes during your observation. Then, using your observation notes, write a paper that has these elements:

  • An introduction that explains the research conducted and the purpose of the paper
  • Detailed descriptions of the two observed instances in which gender influenced the actions of people in the real world. Be sure to address these questions: Who? What? Where? When?
  • An explanation that incorporates the structural-functional theory to explain how gender was at work to keep society orderly in the social setting that you chose.
  • A summary that restates the main points of the paper and suggests one lesson learned from the observation that is applicable to your own life in a gendered world.

Your paper should be between 4 and 5 pages, plus a title and reference page. You should include in-text citations in APA format for at least one academic source in addition to the course text. You should include the Participant Observation Checklist when you upload the Assignment into the Unit 4 Assignment Dropbox.

methods of research design.

GEL-6.1: Demonstrate knowledge of various methods of research design.

(methods of research design.)

GEL-1.1: Demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard American English.

As you have learned during this class, the many methods of research available make it helpful to think through the different options prior to determining which research method is appropriate for your study. It is important to think of what is most needed from your study results when choosing what method to use. If a researcher wants to study an exercise intervention for reducing depression, s/he might study this approach in depth with one person using a single case study, s/he might try to study this by watching people and collecting observational data, s/he might survey people on their rates of exercise and their moods, s/he might collect data from people who regularly use their gym membership and people who do not in terms of their mood, or s/he might randomly assign people to receive or not receive an exercise intervention. Different research designs yield different data. The data obtained, in turn, impact the conclusions that can be made and the implications of study results for professionals working in the field.

For this expository essay, you will identify uses, strengths, and limitations for main study methods discussed in class for a topic of interest (ideally the topic you have used for the course learning activities, but this is not required). You will then choose which of these methods you think is best for studying your research question and design a study using the chosen method. You will present hypothetical findings, discuss limitations of your study, discuss areas for further research, and discuss how your study findings could be used by professionals in the field. Please see the Unit 9 assignment template for more information.

Standardized Terminologies : Health Care Databases

Standardized Terminologies : Health Care Databases

(Standardized Terminologies : Health Care Databases)

Question description

To prepare:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources focusing on the significance of standardized terminologies in health care settings. Consider how standardized terminologies are important in the development and use of databases and clinical information systems.
  • Explore the websites of major health care organizations to determine their recommendations on acceptable standardized terminologies.
  • Determine the standardized terminologies currently used by your health care organization (or one with which you are familiar).
  • Consider the standard terminologies (recommended by a major medical organization or based on your experiences) you would like to see incorporated into your organization’s databases and clinical information systems. What would be the benefit of using these particular standards? How might this impact the quality of the information retrieved from databases within your organization?

THEN

Post a description of at least one standardized terminology that is recommended by a major health care organization. Assess how or if this terminology is incorporated into your organization’s databases and clinical information systems. Identify at least one additional standardized terminology you would like to see incorporated into the organization’s databases. Analyze the importance of incorporating this terminology and how this could impact the quality of the data retrieved from the databases. Justify your response.

Critical Burn Care: Learning Amid Crisis

Critical Burn Care: Learning Amid Crisis

(Critical Burn Care: Learning Amid Crisis)

Recall a clinical learning experience you enjoyed. Describe the experience and identify specific aspects such as educational setting, motivational strategy, learning theory, and delivery of content (how was the material presented).

I have worked as RN in a level one trauma center for about 3 years now, working in the Burn ICU has been one of the biggest challenges I have faced in my nursing career. Some people may assume that the Burn ICU does not care for very sick patients like other units, but in actuality it is so specialized that a well-trained CTICU nurse would struggle. One of the biggest learning experiences I faced since being in the Burn ICU was during a horrible burn trauma activation involving 6 male individuals that were burned while working at the local power plant. It was about 5:45pm, when the charge nurse pager went off with a burn trauma alert. Yes, I happened to have taken over charge nurse at 3:00pm, while managing one patient in the ICU. Back to back the pager went off 6 times, with different burn trauma alerts. Before I knew it, my charge phone was ringing and it was the hospital supervisor informing me that we were going to be transferring out all the patients in our 6 bed ICU to other ICU’s to make room for the 6 burn victims arriving. Suddenly, before we knew it we moved all of our patients and the new burn victims came rolling in. All of the burns were ranging from 60-90% total body surface. I individually managed one of the patients while navigating the unit and med-surg burn floor. It was about 6:30pm, I called in 4 nurses to come in early to help assist with debriding these patients. By the end of the shift at 7pm, all 6 patients were being lined and started on CRRT, along with arterial lines placed and central lines. I somehow had to manage my nursing skills appropriately and take charge of the entire unit. At 7:15p, I lost pulses on my all 4 extremities and my patients bladder pressure was sky rocketing. After about 10 minutes, the plastic surgery team was at the bedside performing fasciotomies and trauma surgery was opening up my patients’ abdomen at beside to help relieve bladder pressure.

During this one individual experience I learned so much about myself. My time management, assessment skills, nursing knowledge and team leadership skills were all put to a test. Thinking back I thought I would have fallen apart, I had only been a RN for a little under two years at this time and I was still questioning all of my skills and abilities. Walking out of the hospital that night I could have not been any more exhausted and discouraged, wondering if I had messed something up or forgotten something. I tried my best to think to myself “you are leaving and you kept this 90% full thickness burn victim alive, that is what you are here for.”
