Assignment 1: Code of Conduct Assessment

Due Week 3 and worth 150 points

Refer the following resources to complete this assignment:

Note: The assignments are a series of papers that build upon one another.

  • Raytheon’s code of conduct
  • Examples of Procurement Fraud

The recent emphasis on ethics in government contracting requires contractors to avoid any conduct that even appears to be unethical. Imagine you are a former contracting officer (CO) turned contractor (you choose your area of expertise) and you just created a new contracting firm.

Write a five (5) page paper in which you:

  • Provide an explanation of the specific goods and / or services the new contracting firm will provide.
  • Evaluate the Raytheon Code of Ethics as to whether it is effective in avoiding any conduct that even appears to be unethical in the type of organization you selected for your product.
  • Determine the three (3) most critical clauses in the Raytheon document that aid the company’s avoidance of the appearance of impropriety.
  • Determine two (2) additional ethics provision that you would include in your company’s Code of Conduct document based on Raytheon Code of Ethics. Explain the rationale for the inclusion.
  • Analyze how your recommended clause sufficiently closes the gap on one (1) potential major ethical breach in the industry to which your product belongs. Note: Be sure to address any areas of concern regarding potential fraud in the contracting process.
  • Use at least four (4) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Identify and apply the appropriate Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) clauses to meet compliance in contract formulation and award.
  • Analyze Government Accountability Office reports / decisions to identify FAR compliance issues and contributing factors.
  • Analyze the planned actions in soliciting and awarding contracts and make recommendations to ensure the government agency is in compliance with the FAR requirements.
  • Develop effective ethical guidelines that minimize the risks and consequences of unethical contracting practices and ensure compliance with federal guidelines on fraud, fair contracting, and contract-related public policies.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in government contract law.
  • Write clearly and concisely about government contract law using proper writing mechanics.

Conflict Resolution Program Design

(Conflict Resolution Program Design)

Please note that this Individual Assignment consists of a paper and a PowerPoint. It is important that the assignment covers the nature of the conflict and the program design.

In this assignment, you will integrate the concepts of conflict resolution, group influence, and attribution to develop a program of conflict resolution to a current conflict situation. The conflict must be a conflict between two groups.

For the Paper portion, you must write a 700- to 1,050-word paper in which you create a program to improve the relationship between two groups. Examples include between police and a community, managers and subordinates, the city council committee and a special interest group, and unions and management. Be specific in identifying what community, company, or organization you are writing about.

The paper must cover the Nature of the Conflict and fully discuss the following key elements:

  • Describe the context of the conflict. What kind of community or organization is this? Who are the stakeholders in the outcome of the conflict?
  • Identify the overt and covert issues presenting both sides.
  • Describe the effect the conflict has on the organization within which it exists and, if applicable, the surrounding community.
  • Identify attribution errors and how they will be addressed in the program. This includes dispositional and situational attributions.
  • Analyze the dynamics within each group and between groups. Who are the leaders? Does anyone stall or undermine the group? Is there a relationship between two subgroups?

The Program Design is part of your paper portion for this assignment. Be sure to include the following for your paper portion:

  • Apply the elements of conflict resolution.
  • Describe the central strategy you will use to resolve or diminish the conflict.
  • Provide at least one reference supporting the use of such a strategy.
  • Include a program component that employs social media. What social media will your program use? How will you utilize the social media?
  • Explain how you will address attribution errors between the groups. Include dispositional and situational attributional errors.
  • Identify the elements of persuasion you will use in your program. Remember, the elements of persuasion are the communicator, the message, how the message is conveyed and the audience.

By the due date assigned , complete the following assignment:

Coogly Company is attempting to identify its weighted average cost of capital for the coming year and has hired you to answer some questions they have about the process. They have asked you to present this information in a PowerPoint presentation to the company’s management team. The company would like for you to keep your presentation to approximately 10 slides and use the notes section in PowerPoint to clarify your point. Your presentation should address the following questions and offer a final recommendation to Coogly. Make sure you support your answers and clearly explain the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing the weighted average cost of capital methodology. Include at least one graph or chart in your presentation.

Company Information

The capital structure for the firm will be maintained and is now 10% preferred stock, 30% debt, and 60% new common stock. No retained earnings are available. The marginal tax rate for the firm is 40%.

  1. Coogly has outstanding preferred stock That pays a dividend of $4 per share and sells for $82 per share, with a floatation cost of $6 per share. What is the component cost for Coogly’s preferred stock? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using preferred stock in the capital structure?
  2. If the company issues new common stock, it will sell for $50 per share with a floatation cost of $9 per share. Main Ideas of Coaching Outline

Coaching is a structured process aimed at facilitating personal and professional growth by guiding individuals to set and achieve meaningful goals. Using the Brief Coaching for Lasting Solutions textbook as a foundation, individual coaching emphasizes a solution-focused approach that highlights the strengths and resources of clients, fostering self-discovery and accountability. Below are the main ideas of individual coaching based on the textbook, supplemented by insights from two external sources:

1. Solution-Focused Framework

  • Coaching centers on identifying solutions rather than dwelling on problems.
  • Clients are encouraged to envision their desired future and set actionable steps to achieve it.
  • The focus is on leveraging existing skills and past successes to build confidence and momentum (de Shazer & Dolan, 2007).

2. Goal Setting and Clarity

  • Effective coaching involves helping clients articulate clear, specific, and realistic goals.
  • The SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) framework is commonly employed to structure goals (Locke & Latham, 2002).
  • Clarity in goal setting ensures alignment with the client’s values and motivations.

3. Active Listening and Questioning

  • Coaches use active listening to understand clients’ perspectives and foster a safe, non-judgmental environment.
  • Solution-focused questioning, such as the Miracle Question, helps clients uncover their strengths and envision their ideal outcomes (Brief Coaching for Lasting Solutions).

4. Client Empowerment and Accountability

  • Coaching promotes self-efficacy by empowering clients to take ownership of their decisions.
  • Regular check-ins and progress reviews hold clients accountable while celebrating small wins.
  • Accountability structures help sustain motivation and commitment (Whitmore, 2017).

5. Strength-Based Perspective

  • The approach emphasizes identifying and leveraging clients’ inherent strengths and resources.
  • This perspective fosters resilience and optimism, enabling clients to navigate challenges effectively.

6. Ethical and Professional Boundaries

  • Coaches adhere to ethical guidelines, respecting client confidentiality and maintaining professionalism.
  • Boundaries ensure a collaborative and respectful coach-client relationship (International Coaching Federation, 2021).

Supporting Sources

  1. Whitmore, J. (2017). Coaching for Performance: The Principles and Practice of Coaching and Leadership. This resource emphasizes the importance of active listening, goal setting, and client empowerment as fundamental coaching principles.
  2. Locke, E. A., & Latham, G. P. (2002). Building a Practically Useful Theory of Goal Setting and Task Motivation. This article outlines the effectiveness of goal-setting frameworks in coaching and performance improvement.

In conclusion, individual coaching, guided by a solution-focused methodology, equips clients with the tools to identify their goals, utilize their strengths, and achieve lasting change. By integrating insights from foundational texts and supplementary resources, coaching becomes a dynamic and impactful process.

Enhancing Emergent Literacy Skills

Enhancing Emergent Literacy Skills

(Enhancing Emergent Literacy Skills)

Emergent literacy activities

Create two activities to be used to enhance emergent literacy, one for infants and one for toddlers.

Use the format of one of the lesson plan templates as a resource for each activity and include the following:

  1. Explanation of the activity,“ what the child is expected to do and what the teacher will do.
  2. Clear, measurable learning objectives that align to early learning standards (ELS) as well as your state’s subject standards.
  3. Relevant materials and resources including visual or audio resources.
  4. Explanation of how the activity can be modified to address the needs of individual learners.
  5. Description of how the activity helps in the development of emergent literacy. Provide specific examples.

Emergent Literacy Activities

Activity for Infants (6-12 months): Interactive Storytime with Textures

Explanation of the Activity:
The teacher will read a tactile storybook with textures, such as “Pat the Bunny” or a similar interactive book. Infants will explore the book by touching, feeling, and observing the pages as the teacher narrates the story with expressive voices and gestures. The teacher will encourage infants to engage by pointing to images and asking simple questions, such as, “Can you feel the bunny’s fur?”

Learning Objectives:

  1. Develop early sensory and tactile recognition skills.
  2. Foster auditory discrimination through listening to the teacher’s voice.
  3. Build vocabulary by introducing new words related to the story, such as “soft,” “bunny,” and “flower.”

Materials and Resources:

  • A tactile storybook with interactive elements.
  • Comfortable seating or a play mat for infants.
  • Audio resource: Soothing background music or sound effects related to the book’s theme.

Modifications for Individual Learners:

  • For visually impaired infants, focus on tactile and auditory elements by emphasizing textures and sound effects.
  • For infants with motor delays, position the book to enable easier access to textures.
  • For infants with auditory challenges, use exaggerated facial expressions and gestures to reinforce the story.

How the Activity Helps in Emergent Literacy Development:
Interactive storytime introduces infants to the concept of books and storytelling. Feeling textures while hearing descriptive words strengthens the connection between sensory experiences and language. For example, touching the bunny’s fur while hearing “soft” helps infants associate the word with the sensation.

Activity for Toddlers (2-3 years): Alphabet Adventure Hunt

Explanation of the Activity:
The teacher will hide alphabet cards around the classroom or designated play area. Each card will have a large, colorful letter along with an object or picture that starts with that letter (e.g., “A” with an apple image). Toddlers will search for the cards and bring them to the teacher, who will guide them in identifying the letter and its sound.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognize and name letters of the alphabet.
  2. Begin associating letters with corresponding sounds.
  3. Develop problem-solving and gross motor skills through active exploration.

Materials and Resources:

  • Alphabet cards with bold letters and matching images.
  • A basket for collecting cards.
  • Visual aids: Alphabet chart displayed in the room.
  • Optional: Songs like “The Alphabet Song” for reinforcement.

Modifications for Individual Learners:

  • For toddlers with limited mobility, place cards within their reach or bring cards to them for identification.
  • For advanced learners, ask them to name additional words that start with each letter.
  • For children with speech delays, use sign language or visual cues to support their responses.

How the Activity Helps in Emergent Literacy Development:
The Alphabet Adventure Hunt fosters letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and vocabulary building. For example, finding the “B” card with a ball image teaches toddlers the sound of “B” and reinforces the association with the word “ball.” Active engagement also keeps toddlers motivated, ensuring they view literacy activities as fun and rewarding.

These activities create foundational literacy skills by combining sensory exploration, movement, and meaningful interaction with language, ensuring both infants and toddlers are engaged in developmentally appropriate ways.

Improving Public Health Quality

Improving Public Health Quality

(Improving Public Health Quality)

  • Discuss efforts to improve public health quality. 250-400 words.

use APA format. indicate which words are yours and which are the reference

Efforts to improve public health quality are integral to addressing health disparities and enhancing the overall well-being of populations. Various initiatives, policies, and programs have been designed to tackle public health challenges, improve access to healthcare, and ensure healthier communities. One significant effort is the implementation of health promotion and disease prevention programs that focus on reducing chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer (Healthy People 2030, 2020). These programs emphasize the importance of physical activity, nutrition, smoking cessation, and mental health support. By targeting key lifestyle factors, these initiatives aim to reduce the burden of preventable diseases and improve quality of life.

Another essential effort to improve public health is the expansion of healthcare access, particularly through policies such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in the United States. The ACA has provided millions of individuals with access to affordable health insurance, ensuring that more people can seek preventive care, vaccinations, and regular screenings (Sommers et al., 2017). These efforts not only improve individual health outcomes but also reduce healthcare costs by preventing diseases and addressing health issues before they become severe.

Public health surveillance and data collection also play a crucial role in improving quality. Monitoring trends in diseases, vaccination rates, and risk factors allows public health authorities to develop targeted interventions (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2020). These efforts help ensure that resources are allocated efficiently, and interventions are tailored to the needs of specific populations.

Efforts to improve public health quality are ongoing, requiring collaboration between governments, healthcare providers, and communities. By promoting prevention, improving access to care, and leveraging data, we can create healthier environments that enhance the quality of life for individuals across the globe.

Amazon Business Systems Analysis

Amazon Business Systems Analysis

(Amazon Business Systems Analysis)

Build a power point about amazon com see description

It is time to put on your “creative thinking cap.” Your Final Project will require that you utilize all the information from the previous weeks, including your draft slides and your notes in your Final Project Portfolio, and apply your learning to the following situation:

You have been hired as a consultant to your chosen organization, and you have been called in by the CEO of the organization to conduct a presentation to the upper level and mid-level managers. The CEO would like you to provide your best recommendations on what their organization can do to become more successful at effectively using and managing their information and business information systems.

Utilizing the above scenario, prepare a 10- to 12-slide final presentation (excluding title slide and reference slide). You must provide narrative and the speaker note section at the bottom of each slide so that the reader can follow along better. Your speaker notes should include your rationale and assumptions that pertain to your slide. You also need to have a minimum of 6-8 citations and references to support your direction.

Note: You may elect to include additional slides as part of an appendix if you have information you might reasonably assume that a CEO or upper management might want. It is not required that you do so.

Here is a suggested outline for the Final Project. You may decide that an alternative organization schema works better for you, or that you need to emphasize certain issues and trends that you think are most important to your chosen organization. Be prepared to make your case either way.

  • Title slide: Chosen organization
  • Background on organization
  • Issues/trends affecting the organization (see note below)
    • Week 2: Roles & Actions
    • Week 3: Utilization of Data Resources
    • Week 4: Driving Value from Business Information Systems
    • Week 5: Process-Oriented Organization
    • Week 6: Security and Ethical Issues
    • Week 7: Business Continuity Planning
  • Summary of major findings or issues that are likely to cause the most concern to this group
  • Recommendations for action based on your evaluation of your organization and the learning and readings from the course
  • References in the form of an annotated bibliography in APA format
  • Appendices (optional)

Hint: Each of these sections utilizes the information that you provided in your Shared Practice Discussions and Assignments for that respective week. You will likely need more than one slide for your summary of major findings and your recommendations.

Trends in Evaluation Vocabulary

Trends in Evaluation Vocabulary

(Trends in Evaluation Vocabulary)

Assignment trends in evaluation vocabulary

Background:

As evaluation has grown as a discipline over the past 50 years, scholars and practitioners from multiple disciplines have contributed to the vocabulary within the field. Consider the following example of the way one term, validity, has evolved within evaluation. In early publications from the 1960s, scholars suggested that validity of evaluation studies be based on the concept of validity as it is understood within experimental research. Validity is a core concept that forms the foundation of any basic understanding of research. Ernest House, an evaluation expert, challenged this definition and pushed for the reconceptualization of validity in evaluation research. He sought to broaden the concept to include issues of fairness, coherence, and justice as indicators of or threats to validity within evaluation. Although House argument may seem minor, it has contributed to a greater emphasis on the social justice aspect of evaluation. After all, many if not most programs that are evaluated have the aim of improving lives. Even if technical research specifications and ethical guidelines are followed, without scrutinizing program evaluation for fairness and a sense of justice to the purpose of the program and its recipients, validity may be lacking.

For this Assignment, you will explore glossaries of evaluation terminology and consider any trends that appear during your analysis.

To Prepare:

  • Conduct an Internet search for glossaries on evaluation.
  • As you locate vocabularies, taxonomies, and glossaries, take note of how they have changed or remained the same over the decades. Also, consider their breadth or depth, as well as specific instances of how terms are treated similarly or differently across them.
  • Select 15 resources to use for this Assignment.
  • You will need to create an annotated bibliography of these sources.

To Do:

  • Create a chronological citation list of 15 resources you located.
  • Use APA formatting and provide a hyperlink to each one.
  • Annotate the list with your observations about how the glossaries are similar or different (around 150 words for each citation).
  • Explain any trends that appeared during your research.

Week 3 Open Discussion [WLO: 3] [CLO: 1]

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, review this week’s readings, guidance, and announcements. Reflect on what you found interesting, surprising, or confusing.

This discussion forum is an opportunity for you to explore topics that interest you, share critical insights and questions that you are working with, share your struggles and triumphs, and discuss difficulties that may have arisen this week. Your initial post should describe your experiences in the course this past week, prompting further discussion. Address at least two of the following questions:

  • Was there anything that caused you to view the world around you differently or examine a topic from a different perspective?
  • What struck you in particular as you explored the course materials this week?
  • Do you have questions that your classmates might be able to help you with? (If you have a question for the instructor, be sure to contact your instructor via email or in the Ask Your Instructor forum).
  • Part of having the growth mindset, which we talked about in the Post Your Introduction forum, is to learn from the feedback and critiques you get from your instructor and classmates. Review your feedback on the Roots of Prejudice and American Dialects Discussion in Week 2. How will you incorporate your instructor’s comments on this week’s discussion? (If you have a specific question about your feedback, be sure to contact your instructor via email).
