Pathophysiology 2

Pathophysiology 2

(Pathophysiology 2)

Pathophysiology is the study of how diseases or injuries affect the normal functioning of the body’s organs and systems. It delves into the mechanisms underlying the development of various conditions, examining changes in cellular, tissue, and organ function. Understanding pathophysiology is crucial for healthcare professionals as it guides diagnosis, treatment, and management strategies.

At its core, pathophysiology explores the disruptions in homeostasis, the body’s ability to maintain internal stability despite external changes. These disruptions can arise from a multitude of factors including genetic predispositions, environmental influences, infections, trauma, or lifestyle choices.

Disease processes often involve complex interactions between different body systems. For example, diabetes mellitus disrupts glucose regulation, leading to complications in multiple organs such as the kidneys, eyes, nerves, and cardiovascular system. Similarly, heart failure can affect the function of the heart, lungs, and kidneys, creating a cascade of physiological consequences.

Studying pathophysiology involves analyzing the sequence of events from the initial insult to the manifestation of symptoms. This may include cellular responses such as inflammation, oxidative stress, or apoptosis, as well as systemic effects like hormonal imbalances or immune dysfunction.

Ultimately, a deep understanding of pathophysiology provides the foundation for effective healthcare interventions aimed at restoring normal physiological function and improving patient outcomes.

Pathophysiology 2

Abstract

The focus of this research paper is “Motivation within the workplace”. What does motivation mean to us? How does it really affect us as leaders as well as employees? According to (Wiley,2011) motivation is defined as: : “The forces coming from within a person that account for the willful direction, intensity, and persistence of the person’s efforts toward achieving specific goals, where achievement is not due solely to ability or to environmental factors”.

Work motivation has to be in my opinion one of the most active impactions in relation to the organizational behavior within the work force that is why I have chosen this topic.  If your employees are not motivated many negative behaviors will surface amongst them.  For example, “the lack of motivation could affect safety, esteem needs, self-actualization needs, social needs as well as physiological needs just to name a few” (Wiley 2011).

This research paper will entail how motivation affects the workplace on daily basis as well as the overall long term effects motivation has on us all within. The relevance of motivation in relation to the Organizational behavior the fact the motivation is quite crucial an importance in any discussion of organizational behavior. Individuals must be motivated if they are to effectively engage in practices and behaviors that bring along the success to a company, business or firm. This area of Organizational Behavior interests me because there are many strategies to master and they all funnel to the one goal of effectively running a business.

Life in the Universe Term Paper2

Life in the Universe Term Paper, science homework help2

(Life in the Universe Term Paper2)

Question description

Term Paper Due on the Last Day of Class (No exceptions – sorry, really no exceptions).

The term paper question changes every year— yep, you guessed it, a plagiarism check…sigh—so please to organize your paper around the question below.

You MUST use the assigned topic and format for your paper or you risk getting a 0.

Term Paper Topic:(Life in the Universe Term Paper2)

A Ten Year Plan for Finding Life in the Universe

You have just been named the director of a world consortium charged with finding extraterrestrial life as quickly as possible. You proposal must convince scientists and non-scientists alike, so it needs to be both accurate and clear. Your plan should address the following issues:

1. Where should we focus our search? Choose one or more locations and argue why these are the best places to search for life. Use evidence from current research to make your argument.

2. What types of organisms should we look for? Choose one or more organisms and argue why these are the most promising life forms to search for in the location(s) you have selected. Use evidence from current research to make your argument.

A successful paper be at least 2500 words and will include:

  • A coherent scientific argument that uses scientifically valid articles (from the Internet or journals) – and many of the main concepts used in the textbook, articles, and assignments. These concepts might include: metabolism, respiration, reproduction, habitability zones, extremophiles, methods of searching for extrasolar planets, carbon-based life, universal solvents, planetary atmospheres, or many other concepts that are key to the search for life. Your paper should demonstrate your understanding of these concepts, not just the awareness of the terminology.
  • A clear organization and correct grammar to provide a readable and intelligent paper. It should be easy and pleasurable to read. This should include an introduction, conclusion, and appropriate headers to help make clarify your argument.
  • Individuality and creativity to show how you have digested and interpreted the information, and to show me it is your OWN work. Papers that read like a bunch of cut and paste text without any personality will be poorly graded.
  • A complete and consistent set of citations and references in APA, IEEE, or similar academic format. I don’t care which format you use, but be consistent and thorough.
  • Pride in your work. If you don’t love it, I won’t love it.
(Life in the Universe Term Paper2)

You MUST do original work. I will be very strict on anything that is copied from the Internet or another student’s paper – it is plagiarism. Don’t go there.

This paper is worth 33% of your course grade.

One more time…sorry….a VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Any paper that does not follow this format will not be graded and will be given a 0. If the paper is in the form of a previous course’s paper assignment, you will be failed for the course and all materials will be submitted to the Dean of Science for full disciplinary action for plagiarism. No questions asked – take this as your warning.

Role of Spirituality in Health Care

The Role of Spirituality in Health Care, week 1 discussion 16 help

(Role of Spirituality in Health Care)

Question description

Please do a paragraph about this post with this instruction .

post most have  4 or more  sentences .

you also have to have a high quality post from a content perspective. This means it also needs to do more than agree with or praise a class mate. If you agree with a classmate, explain why, give an example, share what you learned in the readings

One aspect of the topic readings that I find the most interesting is the role of spirituality and religion in health care. I find this topic to be the most interesting, because I feel that it is the most important area to understand in order to deliver holistic care. Nursing care has transformed over the years with a large emphasis on delivering holistic care. Holistic care involves a comprehensive care model that incorporates a patient’s physical medical condition, emotions, spirituality, religion, ethnicity, cognitive status, economic status, environment, genetics, etc. In order to delivery holistic care spiritually must be addressed, thus why the role of spirituality in health care is important and interesting to me.

According to the article, The Role of Spirituality in Health Care, “Spiritual or compassionate care involves serving the whole person—the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual” (Puchalski, 2001). Compassionate care is very important to produce positive patient outcomes. Spiritually and religion may guide one’s worldviews, influencing all their decisions they make. It is important for health care providers to incorporate spirituality into health care to promote positive relationships and health and wellness. When health care providers ignore spiritual and religious beliefs, patient’s may turn away from care delivered and refrain from participating in health promoting measures/interventions. When health care providers can incorporate patient’s spiritual values and beliefs, it can foster health and wellbeing. “Compassionate care calls physicians to walk with people in the midst of their pain, to be partners with patients rather than experts dictating information to them” (Puchalski, 2001).

This topic has a strong correlation with disease and healing. Spirituality is a strong guiding point for healing and how individual’s view disease and illness. Some individuals may turn solely towards religious and spiritual beliefs for healing rather than incorporating western medicine. Some patients may choose to incorporate both to produce the best outcomes. Regardless of the patient’s views on healing and disease, it is important that health care providers take a stance in understanding each individual’s viewpoints. Christina Puchalski stated in the article, “Cure is not possible for many illnesses, but I firmly believe that there is always room for healing. Healing can be experienced as acceptance of illness and peace with one’s life. This healing, I believe, is at its core spiritual” (Puchalski, 2001). It is essential that all health care providers complete an extensive spiritual history on all patients to gain a better understanding of their expectations of care, healing, disease/illness in order to delivery appropriate and effective care. “A spiritual history helps physicians recognize when cases need to be referred to chaplains. It opens the door to conversation about values and beliefs, uncovers coping mechanisms and support systems, reveals positive and negative spiritual coping, and provides an opportunity for compassionate care” (Puchalski, 2001).

Drug Abuse

Drug Abuse

Drug abuse refers to the harmful or excessive use of legal or illegal substances for non-medical purposes. It’s a complex issue with various social, psychological, and physiological factors at play. Individuals may abuse drugs for a multitude of reasons, including seeking pleasure, coping with stress or trauma, or succumbing to peer pressure.

The consequences of drug abuse can be devastating, impacting not only the individual but also their families, communities, and society at large. Health risks associated with drug abuse range from physical ailments such as heart disease, liver damage, and respiratory problems to mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and psychosis. Moreover, drug abuse often leads to impaired judgment and risky behaviors, increasing the likelihood of accidents, violence, and criminal involvement.

Addressing drug abuse requires a multifaceted approach encompassing prevention, education, treatment, and rehabilitation. Prevention efforts aim to raise awareness about the risks associated with drug use and promote healthy lifestyles. Education plays a crucial role in equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about substance use. Additionally, access to comprehensive treatment programs that offer medical, psychological, and social support is essential for those struggling with drug addiction to achieve recovery and lead fulfilling lives.

Efforts to combat drug abuse must also include measures to reduce the availability of illicit substances, enforce laws and regulations, and provide support for individuals and communities affected by drug-related issues. By fostering collaboration among governments, healthcare providers, community organizations, and individuals, we can work towards minimizing the harm caused by drug abuse and promoting well-being for all.

Drug Abuse

For this task, you will prepare a lecture suitable for a community college course on the pharmacological effects of a particular drug of abuse. You may choose one of the following as the format for this presentation: prepare a recorded lecture with an accompanying transcript of the lecture or submit a written lecture as a paper.

Include the following in your lecture:

Choose a commonly abused drug and gather information on the drug’s pharmacology.

Discuss how the drug is typically administered, absorbed. and distributed throughout the body.

Include the concept of biotransformation; explain where it occurs and identify the pharmacological processes involved.

Explain the difference between effective dose and lethal dose and how these concepts relate to the therapeutic index of the drug you are presenting.

Discuss how this particular drug affects the process of neurotransmission and include in your discussion the impact this drug has on specific neurotransmitters.

Be sure to include information on tolerance (neuroadaptation) with this particular drug and the different types of tolerance experienced with this drug.

In addition to information found in the course text, find at least three research articles relevant to the pharmacology of the drug you are presenting (published within the past 5 years) to support your lecture.

Aggression & Violence In Media

Aggression & Violence In Media

(Aggression & Violence In Media)

Aggression and violence in media, encompassing various forms like movies, television, video games, and music, have long sparked debates regarding their potential effects on individuals and society. Proponents of stricter regulation often argue that exposure to violent content desensitizes viewers, leading to increased aggression and antisocial behavior. Research has indeed shown correlations between media violence and aggressive tendencies, especially in children and adolescents.

However, the relationship between media violence and real-world aggression is complex. Many factors, such as individual personality traits, family dynamics, and socio-economic background, also play significant roles. Moreover, not all individuals react similarly to violent media, with many able to distinguish between fantasy and reality.

Furthermore, media can serve as a reflection of societal issues rather than a cause. Critics argue that censoring violent content might overlook addressing underlying societal problems that contribute to aggression, such as poverty, inequality, and mental health issues.

Efforts to mitigate the potential negative effects of media violence often involve a combination of regulatory measures, media literacy programs, and parental guidance. Encouraging critical consumption and fostering open discussions about media content can empower individuals to make informed choices and develop healthier attitudes towards aggression and violence in media.

Aggression & Violence In Media

Reflect on two to three (2-3) TV shows in which characters demonstrate aggression or violence. Consider the context in which this aggression or violence occurred and ways in which it can lead to desensitization.

Write two pages paper in which you:

1. Briefly describe at least two (2) episodes of a television show in which you observed aggression or violence.

2. Identify the context in which the character(s) demonstrated aggression or violence. Include the gender, age, and culture of the character(s) involved in the aggressive or violent act(s).

3. Discuss at least three (3) possible reasons why the selected TV episode included aggression or violence. Provide a rationale for your response.

4. Describe at least three (3) ways that media violence can cause desensitization in people. Justify your response.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

•Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

•Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required assignment page length.

Nursing Perception and Reality

Nursing Perception and Reality

(Nursing Perception and Reality)

Question description

Please respond to the following post with a paragraph

Re:Topic 2 DQ 2

The general public is always very diverse in their thoughts and views as evidenced every day when people voice their political views or discuss food choices or banter back and forth about what cars they choose to buy. Nurses unfortunately, are not on any different spectrum when it comes to how they are perceived. Many people think that nurses are just transporters of patients or gatherers of supplies. They have learned all they know about nurses from watching hundreds of hours of television shows over the years where they show the doctors doing the work that the nurses usually do. Some people think that nurses are only there to take you to the bathroom or help you with a shower or bath. They have no idea what a Certified Nurse’s Assistant is or what duties they perform. Many times, throughout the work week in the Intensive Care Unit phone calls are received or friends or family of patients visit, and they want to talk to the doctor. Those requests are triaged and sometimes they can be valid because of a very complex situation but usually more often than not they are simple questions that the nurse or charge nurse is able to answer. That is something that is always mind blowing and makes one realize what little information that a lot of people think nurses know.

Television plays the biggest role in people’s thoughts and understanding about what nurses do. Television has very unrealistic situations and very rarely shows nurses doing the actual work that they do on a daily basis. On the daytime show, “The View” one of the hosts mocked a nurse during a pageant asking why she was wearing a “doctor’s stethoscope.” This sparked national attention and debate. Many nurses took a stand and the program ended up losing some of their sponsors and had to issue an apology.

(Nursing Perception and Reality)

Clothing also creates a huge amount of confusion over what a nurse’s role is. Scrubs are worn by anyone and everyone that chooses to wear them whether they be a food services worker, a housekeeper, or a biomedical engineer. Anyone wearing a white coat that is male is usually perceived as a doctor, even when they have already verbally identified themselves to the patient and family as a nuclear medicine technician or echocardiogram technician. Medical assistants in physician’s offices are often called “nurses”. Many of them have a certificate in medical assisting from a college but this even is not always required for them to work in a physician’s office as it is up to the physician and office manager’s discretion.

In order to educate the general public about the professional nurse’s role it would take a lot of work and a large number of nurses coming together to create change along with consistency of follow through year after year. Some suggestions (Summers & Summers, 2016) to start the education process would be for the nurse to project a professional image in all interactions. This would entail that when you meet someone you would introduce yourself as a nurse and include your last name as physicians do. Also, when performing your nursing assessment, you could describe your assessment and interventions as you perform them. This could help patients and family members to understand your professional knowledge and ask questions. As referenced above, clothing can play a big part in what the public may think a nurse’s role is. Cartoon characters on scrubs can seem childish and unprofessional unless worn in the correct limited setting. Nurses should work to maintain professionalism in their own attire, appearance, grooming and hygiene.

Media portrayal of nurses has a huge effect on the public’s thoughts and knowledge of the nursing profession. Hospitals often have communication departments that highlight physicians on their bulletins or webpages. One way to promote the nurses in a facility (Summers & Summers, 2016) would be to form a work group to increase awareness of nursing achievements and innovations and publish those on a bulletin or webpage that is seen by the public and/or other facility employees. Many times, the media can get things wrong just as they can also get things right. Nurses can submit feedback to media outlets by giving positive reinforcement. This can be done by phone calls, hard-copy letters, email, twitter hashtags or other social media commenting. The same strategy can also be used when negative nursing portrayal is observed.
