Revitalizing Research: Psychology Presentation

(Revitalizing Research: Psychology Presentation)

I have the copies needed for you to complete and edit the assignment. I need the power point to be edited and redone. I will upload or email the power point and literature paper  and feedback. Power point has been started, you can use the one that has been started and edit it or do a new one that coincides with the details in the assignment..

If the assignment is completed and I get I high grade I will send whomever more money. This assignment is very important and worth majority of the grade for this semester.

Here is the assignment

Utilizing the information you compiled for your literature review paper, and the feedback you received from your instructor about the literature review, prepare a 10-15 minute Power Point presentation on your topic, summarizing the key points and conclusions. Be sure to direct this presentation to an audience in the community. For example, if your paper pertained to a topic in developmental psychology, direct your presentation toward parents, or a parenting center. If your topic pertained to substance abuse, direct it toward a community service agency which may use this information for educating teens or parents about preventing drug use, or current clients about treatments and facilities available. Please state in your presentation the specific audience toward whom your presentation is aimed. Include a reference page in APA format, as well as speaker notes and an audio file with your presentation.

Your slides should provide answers to the following questions:

  • What was your topic?
  • What question did you hope to answer by completing this literature review paper? Explain the practical implications of the conclusions of the literature review and the audience to which they are directed.
  • Given the results of your literature review, what is/are the prevailing argument(s)? In other words, which of those is supported by the existing evidence? Be sure to include full coverage of the arguments, including strengths and weaknesses of each of them, supported by your findings from reviewing the relevant articles.
  • Did the researchers consider multicultural factors in their studies? If not, what factors may be involved? What multicultural factors should future studies include?
  • What ethical issues are related to your topic and/or discussed in the studies you reviewed?
  • How do the conclusions of your literature review relate to the various specialization areas in psychology? Tie them to as many as apply from the following areas: biological, cognitive, developmental, social, personality theory, psychopathology, and applied psychology.
  • How can the conclusions of your literature review inform the population towards whom your presentation is directed? How can they apply this information to their daily lives? What advice or ‘take home message’ can you provide to your audience based on the research you reviewed?
  • What research question could you ask in order to further develop this area of study?
  • Why is your research question important and relevant to the current work being done on your topic?

Your presentation should also follow these guidelines:

  • It should be approximately 10-15 minutes in length.
  • It should be clear, concise, and professional.  Writing should be free of spelling and grammatical errors; it should conform to current APA style (including any in-text citations).
  • It should include graphs, tables, figures, or images illustrating your ideas.
  • There should be a final slide listing references in current APA style.
  • The bulk of the text should be placed in the Notes pages of each slide. Keep the amount of text on the slide, itself, to a minimum.
  • You should record an audio file of your oral presentation. You should also type the text of the speech you would give while showing these slides to an audience should be typed into the Notes area.  If you are unable to use the audio feature, the Notes text will suffice.
  • You can refer to the Power Point tips document provided in the Doc Sharing section of the course.

Submit your presentation to the Submissions Area by the due date assigned..

Week 3 – Discussion 2 – Analyzing Psychoanalysis
Dr. Shoemaker
August 23, 2018
Had I the opportunity to discuss this article with Murray, I’d asked him how did he come to such an in-depth and such direct conclusion about individuals attitude towards sex? Why did he came to that determination? Does it come from personal experience? To be honest, I wasn’t comfortable with this assignment because I didn’t want to be viewed in this light. Only a few of my friends know about this side of me. I agree one hundred percent with Murray’s analysis of Psychoanalysis. I especially opened my eyes when I read, that, when it was clear to him that, “this instinct punished and guilt-laden, veiled by shame …is the chief factor in psychogenic illness but has been for centuries the source of unspeakable mental torment, the veritable plague spot of human personality”(p. 158). There were many great points made throughout the article, but this sums up the prospect of what psychologist should do about Psychoanalysis.
According to Murray, “The theory of the unconscious of the alter ego (or shadows itself) explained various phases of behavior, ambivalence, sudden explosions, regressions, conversions”(p. 159) Lecci & Magnavita,, (2013), stated, “Psychoanalysis was not only forwarded as a theory of the mind and a method for treating emotional and psychological disorders, but it was also used as a method of assessment”(sec. 2.6). Freud used this investigative tool he developed to explore various aspects of mental processes, and he believed it to be especially useful for accessing the unconscious. Which made intelligent assessment shined the light on fixed and refractory frames of reference, which settled sentiments and beliefs. It is essential to an understanding of illusions, delusions, morbid anxiety, compulsions, and insanity”(Murray, 1940, p.”159) Another question, how was he so sure that the questions he asked how was he effective in dealing with his patients?
Additionally, he noted that when certain “technical language” is ineffective and also ” illogical.” (p. 161) It was recommended that ” emotive speech” is resistant to certain poisons in ” scientific ” psychology. Knowing ourselves is the key to knowing and understanding the clients we work with is the most important aspect of healing.

Psychoanalytic theory, according to Lecci and Magnativa (2013) is “a comprehensive metatheory” that deals with “the structure and operation of the mind, the formation of personality through stages of psychosexual development, the development of psychopathologies, and psychoanalytic methods for treating psychological disorders” (Section 2.2, para. 3). Psychoanalytic theory was founded by Freud (Lecci & Magnativa, 2013).

Murray (1940) wrote an article praising psychoanalytical therapy and used it with his patients and how psychoanalysis has its place in clinical therapy treatments. I agree with some of Murray and Freud used in therapy. The first question that I would ask Murray in response to his article is, “Do you think since Freud came up with his theories in a time and society that did not discuss sex, that his theory would change in the United States during current times when sexuality is openly discussed?” Lecci and Magnativa (2013) detailed that Freud was living in a society and culture where sex was not discussed. You wrote, “Men seem to be as much the product of a society as a society is a product of the men” (p.151). Would that fit why Freud wanted to discuss sex and why he based his theory on sexual instincts that were based on conscious and unconscious levels?

Another question I would ask Murray is:

You wrote “Freud’s theory, I submit, is an utterly analytic instrument which reduces a complex individual to a few primitive ingredients and leaves him so” (Murray, 1940, p. 168). If admitting that an individual is complex, would it be evident then that psychoanalysis alone cannot explain the personality or behavior of an individual with just Freud’s theories?

I think that psychoanalysis has its place in psychology in today’s terms, but I think we need to use parts of Freud’s theories in conjunction with other theories to get a better understanding of how personality develops.

Empowering Workforce: Transition & Communication

Empowering Workforce: Transition & Communication

(Empowering Workforce: Transition & Communication)

to the empower workforce, writing homework help

Question description

Please do a paragraph about this post with this instruction .

post most have 4 or more sentences .

you also have to have a high quality post from a content perspective. This means it also needs to do more than agree with or praise a class mate. If you agree with a classmate, explain why, give an example, share what you learned in the readings

Reorganization can be a difficult transition for a work environment without the vision and direction of leadership. Leadership is responsible for promoting growth of an organization or unit to accomplish visions and goals and works to influence and empower staff by recognition and building self-confidence. Encouraging staff to work toward their own personal and professional goals also helps in building self-esteem.

New authoritative management can reek havoc within a department. New changes within the departments and units, without the staffs knowledge, can lead to increased tension, concerns for patient safety, changing of staff to patient ratios, decreased continuity of care, and patient acculturation concerns and unhappy nurses. The moral of the department can plummet. Communication with staff of the new visions and changes planned for the department is imperative for the adjustment. Input from the nursing staff will also be beneficial to understand the workflows, the established environment, and diverse cultures (Huber, 2014).

Use of the democratic theory is beneficial to allow staff to participate in decisions within the unit related to workflows and reorganization (Huber, 2014 ). Maintaining a positive work environment and empowering the nurses to focus on the organizations changes can assist in a smoother transition. Addressing and solving conflicts as soon as possible to avoid chronic frustration is alos necessary. Communication, assertive dialogue, and empathy are some of the conflict management techniques available to assist with anu adjustments (Huber, 2014). Organizational conflict resolution can be made through bargaining, using rules, procedures, and administrative control through integration.

New directors can find staff acceptance by developing relationships with those in the organization, working with a mentor prior to making drastic changes to determine the appropriate workflow for the culture and environment, and speaking personally to staff versus using emails to telephones. Developing and understanding of the political climate of the new environment is necessary for success in any organization (NRS-451V, Lecture 4, 2013).

Urinary Tract Infections4

Urinary Tract Infections4

(Urinary Tract Infections4)

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are bacterial infections affecting any part of the urinary system, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria are the most common culprits, though other bacteria and sometimes fungi can also cause UTIs. Symptoms often include a frequent urge to urinate, a burning sensation during urination, cloudy or strong-smelling urine, and sometimes pelvic pain. UTIs are more prevalent in women due to their shorter urethras, making it easier for bacteria to reach the bladder.

Risk factors include urinary tract obstructions, such as kidney stones, reduced immune function, catheter use, sexual activity, and hormonal changes. UTIs are typically diagnosed through urine analysis and culture tests. Treatment usually involves antibiotics prescribed based on the type of bacteria and the patient’s health status. Drinking plenty of water, urinating frequently, and practicing good hygiene habits can help prevent UTIs. Complications can arise if UTIs spread to the kidneys or bloodstream, leading to more severe conditions. Pregnant women, individuals with diabetes, and those with recurrent UTIs may require specialized care to manage and prevent complications.

Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are caused by bacteria—most often Escherichia coli. However, certain viruses, fungi, and parasites can also lead to infection. The infection can affect the lower and upper urinary tract, including the urethra, prostate (in males), bladder, ureter, and kidney. Due to the progression of the disease and human anatomy, symptoms present differently among the sexes as well as among age groups. It is important to understand how these factors, as well as others, impact the pathophysiology of UTIs. Advanced practice nurses must have this foundation in order to properly diagnose patients.

To Prepare

· Review Chapter 30 in the Huether and McCance text. Identify the pathophysiology of lower and upper urinary tract infections. Consider the similarities and differences between the two types of infections.

· Select two of the following patient factors: genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, or behavior. Reflect on how the factors you selected might impact the pathophysiology of the infections, as well as the diagnosis of and treatment for the infections.

Write

· a description of the pathophysiology of lower and upper urinary tract infections, including their similarities and differences. (I am looking for an explanation at the cellular or molecular level (whenever possible).

· Then explain how the factors you selected might impact the pathophysiology of the infections, as well as the diagnosis of and treatment for the infections.

This discussion will help you prepare your Unit 10 assignment. Your peers and instructor will provide feedback that will help you polish your plan.

In the studies for this unit, you reviewed Step 5 in the Program Evaluation Guide. While your course project does not address program cost, any program for which you provide services will need to address these questions in order to survive and thrive in your community. After completing the multimedia piece, how would you make the case that the benefits of your program are worth the cost?

Similarly, our Royse, Thyer, and Padgett textbook (Chapter 13) and the Sridharan and Nakaima (2011) article discuss how pragmatics and political pressures can come into play when evaluators report their findings. Which of these issues might you anticipate arising when presenting your hypothetical program evaluation? How would you plan to handle these constructively?

The First King’s of Nursing

The First King’s of Nursing

(The First King’s of Nursing)

Question description

The First King’s of Nursing April Marie Cannon R.N. Aspen University 11/27/2017 Abstract In this essay I will discuss King’s Conceptual System Theory. Explain the 3 systems and provide examples of each system. How the systems influence goal attainment. How could King’s theory help define a clinical quality problem? Apply this theory to a potential practice quality improvement initiative within your clinical practice. What are some committee’s that can align the outcomes using King’s Conceptual System Theory and what other nursing theory could improve quality of practice initiative? {First Kings Theory} King proposed a conceptual system for nursing around four concepts. Which are social systems, health, perception, and interpersonal relationships. These areas were identified by using inductive and deductive reasoning, critical thinking, and researching nursing literature. (King, 1971). Role, status, social organization, communication, information, and energy were identified as basic concepts of functions of systems. King expressed how important it was to advance your degree and knowledge and how important it was for nursing as a profession. The medical field is always changing and Technology is always changing. In the field of nursing your career you’re always going to have to get a new certification. Regulations change all the time and the state board of nursing are you always need to have clinical certain clinical hours are certain standards to uphold. { Three Interacting Systems } The Theory of Goal Attainment was developed by Imogene King in the early 1960s. The model has three interacting systems: personal, interpersonal, and social. Each of these systems has its own set of concepts. The concepts for the personal system are perception, self, growth and development, body image, space, and time.

The concepts for the interpersonal system are interaction, communication, transaction, role, and stress. The concepts for the social system are organization, authority, power, status, and decision-making. As a nurse we have certain goals for ourselves and our patients. Using King’s theory will challenge us to become better nurses. I King’s challenge us as nurses to continue education requirements and to challenge yourself in new ways by using the three systems. {Clinical Quality} King’s theory can help define a clinical quality problems by, Nurse has to know that communication is the key and trust between patient and nurse is most important. Clinical pathways serve that purpose, where nurses communicate to their patients care and outcomes/ goals with working with each other. Nurses need advocate for a common nursing language (nursing classification and terminology systems) that would unify nurses worldwide. Supported by nursing theory and technology, global communication would be enhanced for nurses and the interdisciplinary teams of which they are a part. Making healthcare profession’s have their own language if you will. Kind of how we as nurses have own nursing theories to learn to implement , experiment nursing research and how using nursing theories can help achieve great patient care cost effective great outcomes for our patients. Nurses face different challenges and changes in the recent years and will continue in the future. Many opportunities for nurses to take charge of coming changes to help design the future of healthcare. Growth and development as a nurse profession driven by technology advances healthcare will expand practice and that nurses to have a bigger roles and events practice rolls. The way the women’s movement change the way our world has perceived nursing will become more holistic nursing to patient care. I feel it will increase over time.

Healthcare provider receive an information via telecommunications and a decreased face-to-face settings of position. Technology will continue to increase and change in practice nurses demand. Non physician providers will increase in numbers in a little responsibility for they are patients care you increase education for nurses will change to meet new demands as I said before the medical Field is always changing and technology is always changing these are two fields that will never stop changing so just be willing to learn and challenge yourself throughout your nursing career. Which using King’s theory of Goal Attainment pushes us as nurses to have more power over our perception, self, growth and development, body image, space, and time. Applying King’s theory. Applying King’s theory to nursing practice to overall improve initiative clinical nursing practice. Using king’s theory in this experience with a post op patient who has undergone cholecystectomy surgery. As a nurse you ask questions that usually lead to the determination if the patient realizes the risks factors of his/hers that his condition, how he or she understanding of an post op patient .After which, patient and I identified the problem patient lack of interest in ambulation and post op exercises. I as a nurse educated the patient the importance and risks of which may happen if patients not to understand the importance of ambulation after surgery.

Which could lead to major complications. We then set a goal which is for the patient to remain free from post op complications. Next we agreed on the ways that we both selected, and I as a nurse assisted him in performing the appropriate actions after surgery are ambulation, deep breathing exercises, adequate intake of food and water to provide adequate nutrition. Which the overall outcome was the patient was free from complications was discharged home. Quality committee align outcome. Using King’s Conceptual System Theory throughout the research, there were limited resources on nursing informatics project management available. . There was an identified need for a nursing informatics, project management guidebook that combined the two worlds. In addition to the combination, links to scholarly articles and professional organizations were also made available. Upon dissemination of the scholarly product to the Clinical Informatics Sub Committee, it was evident the guidebook was well received by the 25 health care professionals based upon attendance, discussion during the implementation, and feedback on the approach. Moving forward, the Clinical Informatics Sub-Committee will create a program to discuss lessons learned which makes the guidebook more specific to the local military hospital.

Florence Nightingale. Florence Nightingale additional nursing theory from our readings could also align with an improved quality of practice. Modern nursing is complex, ever changing, and multi focused. Since the time of Florence Nightingale, however, the goal of nursing has remained unchanged, namely to provide a safe and caring environment that promotes patient health and well- being. Effective use of an interpersonal tool, such as advocacy, enhances the care-giving environment. Nightingale used advocacy early and often in the development of modern nursing. There are complex care processes, complex health care technologies, complex patient needs and responses to therapeutic interventions, and complex organizations. There are tremendous opportunities and challenges in improving the quality and safety of health care, but the majority require purposeful redesign of health care organizations and processes. As A nurse you can easy combine the two theories together for quality patient care, most cost effective and the ultimate patient outcome. In Conclusion this is how Imogene King’s Goal Attainment theory plays a great role in my career as a nurse. References Caceres, Billy. (2015). Study Environments by Gender

2 × 3 Between-Subjects Factorial ANOVA: Study Environments by Gender

( Study Environments by Gender)

This study investigates whether study environment affects academic performance. In addition, this study investigates whether sex of student “moderates” the effect of study environment on academic performance (that is, do males and females differ in how much benefit they get from studying in certain environments).

During the first half of the spring semester, 120 male students and 120 female students in grade 10 at a public high school in a large metropolitan area in the southwestern region of the United States were randomly assigned to one of three study environment: study in front of the TV, at the library, or in the food court. The students could ONLY study in the environment to which they were assigned during the research period. At the end of the 7-week research period, mid-term GPA was computed for each student. A change score was computed for each student: each student’s spring midterm GPA was subtracted from his or her GPA for the preceding fall semester. The difference was each student’s GPA Improvement score. The GPA improvement score was used to measure academic performance.

Directions:( Study Environments by Gender)

Using the SPSS 2 × 3 ANOVA data file for Module 4 (located in Topic Materials), answer the following questions.NOTE: Helpful hints are provided here for you to use while answering these questions. There is no separate answer sheet/guide to use while doing this assignment.

1.      What are the two independent variables in this study? What is the dependent variable?

2.      Why is a two-way between-subjects factorial ANOVA the correct statistic to use for this research design?

3.      Did you find any errors that the researcher made when setting up the SPSS data file (Remember to check the variable view)? If so, what did you find? How did you correct it?

4.      Run Descriptive Statistics on the dependent variable data. What do the skewness and kurtosis values tell you about whether the data satisfy the assumption of normality?

5.      Perform a between-subjects factorial ANOVA on the data.

a.       What do the results of the Levene’s Test tell you about your data? What does this mean in terms of interpreting the outcomes of the ANOVA?

b.      What do the results of the Tests of Between-Subjects Effects tell you? Was there a significant main effect of Environment on GPA improvement? Was there a significant main effect of Sex on GPA improvement? Was there a significant interaction effect of Environment X Sex on GPA improvement? Report the results for each of these questions providing the actual F-value and p value using the following format: F(df1, df2) = ____, p = .___ or if the p is shown as .000, write it as p < .001; an example of this formatting is F(1, 400) = 15.4, p = .02).

c.       Use eta squared to provide effect size/proportion of variance accounted associated with each F-value. If the F-value for a main effect and/or for an interaction effect is statistically significant, what is the eta squared (h2) value associated with that outcome?

HINT:( Study Environments by Gender)

Report eta squared, h2; ignore partial eta squared that SPSS can provide. You have to calculate eta squared yourself. It is not given to you by SPSS, but you can use what SPSS provides to calculate it. Eta squared is calculated by using the values in the column headed “Type III Sum of Squares” from the table with the results for Tests of Between-Subjects Effects.” To compute eta squared, which would be notated as h2, take that source’s Type III Sum of Squares and divide it by the value for Corrected Total in the same column. For example, if the Type III Sum of Squares for Environment had been 4.5 rather than 4.696, you would divide 4.5 by 14.677 to get the effect size for Environment. If the Type III Sum of Squares for Sex had been 2.0, you also would divide that by 14.677, etc. Interpret these eta squared results for effect size using the following guidelines from Cohen (1988):

·         .01 ~ small

·         .06 ~ medium

·         .14 ~ large

d.      If the result for the main effect of Environment was statistically significant, what did you find out when you performed post hoc tests (Tukey HSD) to look at possible statistically significant differences in the pairs of means for Environment groups?

e.       If the result for the interaction of Environment X Sex was statistically significant, what follow up tests did you perform to understand what was going on here? That is, what did you do to find out what was different for males in the various study Environments versus for females in the various study Environments in effects on GPA improvement? What did you learn?

f.       When you have a factorial ANOVA and the interaction effect is significant, does the researcher give much attention to any significant main effects when interpreting the results of the study?

6.      Citing the results of your statistical analyses, what is the conclusion you can draw (and support) regarding research question that was posed in this research (see problem statement)? Write a results section for this study that expresses and supports this conclusion.

HINT:

Use the sample write-up of the results for the Two-Way Between-Subjects ANOVA example that is in the textbook to see what you should report and how to say it. Just substitute the correct language and values for the analyses you have done for this problem.

Attribution Theory And Performance

Attribution Theory and Performance

(Attribution Theory And Performance)

Prior to beginning this assignment, be sure to read Chapter 4: Cognition, Learning, and the Environment, and read the article “Extending Attribution Theory: Considering Students’ Perceived Control of the Attribution Process”, the Instructor Guidance, and view the following website The Critical Thinking Community (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. (http://www.criticalthinking.org/).

For this written assignment, you will demonstrate your understanding of attribution theory. In essence, attribution theory states that individuals tend to make sense of (logically prescribe) situations by associating them to self, others, thoughts, feelings, or actions. This theory suggests that learners should consider why they do what they do, and what or who they are giving credit for both the victories and the failures. Further, this theory suggests that if a person believes that they are not good at something, they may attribute their unsuccessful outcomes to external factors, rather than to themselves. In contrast, if individuals have success, they more often may attribute their successes to internal factors.

Using your required resources to support, discuss the following:

  • Describe a time where you feel you have failed and blamed someone else: the teacher, the friend, a loved one. (Failure could be academic, relational, and/or organizational – loss of a job.)
  • Do you believe that you blamed external things to support a more stable version of your own self-image? (In other words, it could not be your mistake). If not, what other reasons might external variables be attributed for our own performance?
  • How do think stability and controllability affect performance attributions, based on our reading this week?
  • Why do you think that self-efficacy plays such a critical role in how we process our learning behaviors?
  • What strategies could be applied to utilize what we know about self-perception and attributions to increase your learning performance in the future? (Minimum of two strategies.)

Suggested template.

The Attribution Theory paper

  • Must be five to six double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site..

The Literature Review Process

Discussion—The Literature Review Process

(The Literature Review Process)

As the community assessment is completed and the statement of the health problem is clearly stated and appropriately quantified using the available epidemiologic tools, one must now start looking at an adequate and suited intervention or policy to address the particular public health problem. The availability of scientific literature is an invaluable source of information to begin searching for the most ideal and best-suited intervention, program, or policy to specifically address the targeted objectives emanating from the community assessment.

Because of the considerable amount of scientific literature, a systematic approach to literature searching is imperative to locate credible, high-quality evidence as efficiently and exhaustively as possible. To be systematic, a guide must be applied to aid in what literature is important, where to search for related literature, how to find evidence-based literature, and how to organize the results of a search.

In your analysis and evaluation of the three related peer-reviewed scientific articles for Week 3 Project, please share with your peers any difficulties, strategies, or techniques that you developed, discovered, or utilized to simplify or enhance the literature review process.

The steps for reviewing the Scientific Literature and Organizing Information are listed below. Please note that you do not need to follow the same order.

  • Review the issue statement and purpose of the search
  • Select a bibliographic database
  • Identify key words
  • Conduct the search
  • Refine the search
  • Select and organize documents for review
  • Abstract pertinent information from each document
  • Summarize and apply the literature review

If you found that some sections of the literature review process were more difficult compared to some other steps, please talk about this difficulty in this discussion thread.

Provide reasons or evidence in support of your responses.

Write your initial response in approximately 300 words.

By the due date assigned, post your response to the appropriate Discussion Area. Through the end of the week, review and comment on at least two peers’ responses. Consider commenting on their difficulties and your thoughts for suggestions or resolutions.

Support your answers with examples and research. Your responses should clarify your understanding of the topic. They should be your own, original, and free from plagiarism. Follow the APA format for writing style, spelling and grammar, and citation of sources.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Reviewed the issue statement and purpose of the search.
  • Selected a bibliographic database.
  • Identified key words.
  • Conducted the search.
  • Refined the search.
  • Selected and organized documents for review.
  • Abstracted pertinent information from each document.
  • Summarized and applied the literature review.
  • Shared with peers any difficulties, strategies, or techniques that you developed, discovered, or utilized to simplify or enhance the literature review process.
  • Responses demonstrated in-depth research and analysis.
  • Justified your answers with appropriate research and reasoning.
  • Commented on the postings of at least two peers.
