Crafting Effective Grant Narratives

Crafting Effective Grant Narratives

(Crafting Effective Grant Narratives)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the premier public health agency in the United States and is considered an expert on all public health issues. Review the CDC website to learn how the CDC articulates information related to public health and how you can write a similar narrative in your grant or contract application. Visit this website at the following: cdc.gov

Using the weekly readings, the South University online library resources, and the Internet, research the importance of writing a grant or contract proposal narrative. Based on your research, respond to the following:

  • Knowing that the “devil is in the details,” what specific steps will you take to make sure you have addressed everything required by a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA)? Explain your answer with the help of examples.
  • Which of these steps will be the most difficult to execute and why? Give reasons and examples in support of your responses. Be sure to cite any relevant resources.

Write your initial response in approximately 300 words

By  the due date assigned, post your response to the below Discussion Area. Through the end of the week, review and comment on at least two peers’ responses. Consider commenting on their plans to make sure that everything is in order and that they have adequately addressed every component of the FOA. Respond to the assigned question using the lessons and vocabulary found in the reading. Support your answers with examples and research. Your responses should clarify your understanding of the topic. They should be your own, original, and free from plagiarism. Follow the APA format for writing style, spelling and grammar, and citation of sources. Start reviewing and responding to the postings of your peers as early in the week as possible. Respond to at least two of your peers’ posts. Participate in the discussion by analyzing each response for completeness and accuracy and by suggesting specific additions or clarifications for improving the discussion question response.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Explained the steps required to address everything required by an FOA. Provided relevant examples.
  • Identified the most difficult steps to execute and explained why they were difficult.
  • Responses demonstrated in-depth research and analysis.
  • Justified your answers with appropriate research and reasoning.
  • Commented on the postings of at least two peers.

Evidence-Based Practice Proposal Final Paper Due Date: Apr 18, 2018

Details:

Throughout this course you will be developing a formal, evidence-based practice proposal.

The proposal is the plan for an evidence-based practice project designed to address a problem, issue, or concern in the professional work setting. Although several types of evidence can be used to support a proposed solution, a sufficient and compelling base of support from valid research studies is required as the major component of that evidence. Proposals are submitted in a format suitable for obtaining formal approval in the work setting. Proposals will vary in length depending upon the problem or issue addressed, but they should be between 3,500 and 5,000 words. The cover sheet, abstract, references page, and appendices are not included in the word count.

Section headings and letters for each section component are required. Responses are addressed in narrative form in relation to that number. Evaluation of the proposal in all sections is based upon the extent to which the depth of content reflects graduate-level critical-thinking skills.

This project contains six formal sections:

  1. Section A: Problem Description
  2. Section B: Literature Support
  3. Section C: Solution Description
  4. Section D: Change Model
  5. Section E: Implementation Plan
  6. Section F: Evaluation of Process

Each section (A-F, to be completed in Topics 1-5) will be submitted as separate assignments so your instructor can provide feedback for revision (refer to each Topic for specific assignments).

The final paper will consist of the completed project (with revisions to all sections), title page, abstract, reference list, and appendices. Appendices will include a conceptual model for the project, handouts, data and evaluation collection tools, a budget, a timeline, resource lists, and approval forms.

Refer to the “EBP Implementation Plan Guide, the “Evidence-Based Practice Project Proposal Format,” and the “Evidence-Based Practice Project Student Example” as tools for developing your proposal.

Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is required for the final paper.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are not required to submit this assignment to Turnitin.

Empowering Marginalized Career Paths

Empowering Marginalized Career Paths

(Empowering Marginalized Career Paths)

Empowering Marginalized Career Counseling: Theory & Strategies” focuses on addressing the unique challenges faced by marginalized individuals in their career development. The theory delves into understanding the intersecting factors of identity, including race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and ability, and how these impact one’s career journey. By acknowledging the systemic barriers that marginalized groups encounter, the counseling strategies aim to empower individuals to navigate and overcome these obstacles.

Key strategies include fostering self-awareness and self-advocacy, providing culturally competent guidance, and offering resources tailored to the specific needs of marginalized communities. This approach emphasizes the importance of validating lived experiences, building confidence, and promoting resilience in the face of adversity.

Additionally, the counseling process incorporates advocacy for systemic change to create more inclusive environments within educational institutions, workplaces, and society at large. By promoting equity and accessibility, marginalized individuals can gain greater agency in shaping their career paths and achieving their professional aspirations. Ultimately, “Empowering Marginalized Career Counseling” seeks to dismantle barriers and promote equity in career development for all individuals, regardless of their background or identity.

All I need is the outline for the assignment below. The actual assignment is not due for awhile.

Create an outline for the “Marginalized Group Career Counseling Essay”

Include at least four required scholarly references for the paper in your outline.

Refer to “Four Main Components for Effective Outlines,” located on the Purdue OWL website for help in completing your assignment. https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/544/01/

For this assignment you will select a marginalized group (veterans, minorities, individuals with disabilities, etc.) and write a paper of 1,750 to 2,100 words that can be used as a resource when working with an individual from the selected group. Use peer-reviewed resources to support your use of a specific career theory as well as interventions with this population. The paper should include the following:

  1. An explanation of who the population is and why it is important for this group to receive career counseling
  2. Statistics on the group (e.g., how large, how many have employment problems, how many utilize career counseling)
  3. Discussion of career counseling theory to be used with the group (e.g., Minnesota theory of work adjustment). Include evidence supporting the use of this theory in the general population as well as within the group. Please note: If none are available, it is important to indicate that as well.
  4. Basic plan for counseling utilizing chosen theory (e.g., interview, use of assessment tools, explanation of theory)
  5. Environmental/personal barriers that may prevent the client from finding work (e.g., disability, substance use history, felony, transportation, limited computer access)
  6. Local resources available to help the client obtain work (e.g., job center, training programs, support groups)
  7. Your conclusion on whether or not this plan is tenable and will work, based on the information listed above.
  8. A minimum of four scholarly references.

Factors Influencing Community Health

Factors Influencing Community Health

(Factors Influencing Community Health)

How Do Various Factors Influence Health In Your Community?

Various factors intersect to influence health within a community. Socioeconomic status plays a pivotal role, affecting access to healthcare, nutritious food, and safe housing. Education levels correlate with health outcomes, as higher education often leads to better health literacy and employment opportunities. Environmental factors, such as pollution levels and access to green spaces, impact physical well-being.

Social determinants like race, ethnicity, and gender influence health disparities, with marginalized groups experiencing higher rates of illness and reduced access to care. Behavioral factors, including diet, exercise, and substance use, significantly affect individual and community health outcomes.

Healthcare infrastructure, including the availability of hospitals, clinics, and qualified healthcare professionals, shapes the accessibility and quality of care. Additionally, policies and governance structures influence health through regulations on industries, healthcare funding, and public health initiatives.

Cultural norms and beliefs can impact health behaviors and perceptions of illness, shaping community attitudes towards seeking medical care and preventive measures. Overall, a complex interplay of economic, social, environmental, and cultural factors determines the health status of a community.

In addition, review all the required articles for this week, as well as the Case Description: Mr. I—Psychiatric Inpatient Interpretive Report (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. and the PSY640 Week Four Psychological Assessment Report (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site..

For this discussion, you will take on the role of a psychologist who was recently assigned two new clients. You will examine psychological assessment information presented in two different formats: a computer generated interpretative report of personality test results for the patient Mr. I and a psychological report written by a licensed psychologist for the patient Ms. S. In your initial post, you will examine the personality assessment instruments used in each report.

Carefully review the Case Description: Mr. I—Psychiatric Inpatient Interpretive Report (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.; this patient was referred to you after being admitted into a psychiatric inpatient facility. Write a one-paragraph summary of the computer generated MMPI-2-RF results for Mr. I based on the information in the interpretive report.

In your role as the psychologist who evaluated Ms. S., examine the personality and ability testing results in the PSY640 Week Four Psychological Assessment Report (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. In your next meeting with Ms. S, you will be required to give her a copy of the psychological assessment report and discuss the results with her by explaining the psychological concepts effectively observing appropriate professional standards. In order to share this discussion with your colleagues, you will create a screencast of a three- to five-minute assessment feedback session, which must walk the client through the report and summarize the most pertinent information from the psychological assessment report in language your client can understand. You may use any screen-casting software you choose. Quick-Start Guides are available for Screencast-O-Matic (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for your convenience. Once you have created your screencast, include the link in your initial post.

In your initial post, provide an evaluation of the contents of both psychological evaluations in terms of ethical standards and the professionalism of the interpretation of the testing and assessment data presented. Write an analysis of the psychometric methodologies employed in the development and validation of the MMPI-2-RF personality test used with both clients. Develop a list of at least two additional tests of personality or emotional functioning to administer to the two clients that demonstrate acceptable validity. Justify your inclusion of each additional assessment measure in terms of the validity of the assessment measure and your clients’ presenting concerns, diagnosis, and prognosis

Beck Depression Inventory Assessment

Beck Depression Inventory Assessment

(Beck Depression Inventory Assessment)

Assessment: Specific Resources, Instruments, and Observations

Introduction

This unit will focus on how counselors assess their clients during the initial stages of the counseling process. How will you gather the information that will assist in describing the client’s presenting issues; current level of functioning; strengths and limitations; risk factors; characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving; and possible areas for focus in the counseling process? Much of this information may come from a structured initial interview or biopsychosocial assessment, which frequently occurs during the first intake session. Counselors also use more formal types of assessments in early sessions, such as a mental status exam, depression/anxiety inventories, symptom checklists, or other self-report measures.

Having familiarity with the range of assessment instruments and processes available to counselors and understanding when they can be used to produce reliable and valid information to assist in the counseling process are important parts of professional development. Your site supervisor can discuss your current fieldwork site’s approach to assessment and may also be able to provide more information about the way other agencies or practitioners in your area approach using methods to assess clients, track their progress, and evaluate therapy outcomes.

Objectives

To successfully complete this learning unit, you will be expected to:

1.      Review various assessment tools designed to address specific disorders.

2.      Identify the strengths and limitations of assessment tools.

3.      Gauge the effectiveness of selected assessment tools in soliciting client data and facilitating interaction.

4.      Discuss cultural characteristics that impact the selection and application of assessment tools.

I have selected the Beck Depression Inventory for this paper.

Utilize one or more specific methods of assessment with a client you are working with at your fieldwork site. Ask your site supervisor to assist you in selecting an assessment that is appropriate for your client and that is currently used at your site (such as the Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory, mental status exam, biopsychosocial assessment, ecomap, genogram, or another developed assessment instrument).

If your fieldwork site does not use any methods for a formal evaluation process with clients, select at least one assessment tool that you believe would be appropriate for your client, and discuss its use with your site supervisor.  A structured interview, biopsychosocial assessment, and genogram are less intrusive methods of assessment than using a developed instrument and should be discussed as possibilities with the site supervisor. Once you have permission from your supervisor to use this assessment method, set up a time to administer it with your client.

After you have collected client, couple, or family data using the various assessment tools given to you by your agency or organization (as well as any other assessment tool from your readings, with your site supervisor’s approval), synthesize, summarize, and write your assessment of the client, in a 3–4 page paper that:

5.      Offers a brief description of your client, couple, or family, omitting any personally identifying information.

6.      Describes the rationale for using these particular assessment forms (that is, agency policy, diagnostic clarification, and so on).

7.      Gauges the effectiveness of selected assessment tools in soliciting client data and facilitating interaction.

8.      Identifies the strengths and limitations of assessment tools.

9.      Discusses cultural characteristics that impact the selection and application of assessment tools.

10.Identifies the limitations of these tools in gathering data and building the helping relationship.

Question description

1) Assume that an investor is risk-neutral (i.e. assume that the investor always chooses the investment with the higher expected rate of return even if it is riskier). If the yield on 1-year marketable CD’s is 6% while the yield on 2-year marketable CD’s is 7% and this investor purchased the 1year T-bill, what must (s)he expect to happen to short term interest rates over the coming year?

2) In question # 1 above, what is the expected interest rate level one year from now that would equalize the expected rate of return on one year and two year CD’s if both were held for one year?

3) If the Fed lowers short term interest rates by 1/2% but investors believe this is just a temporary reduction which will only last a few months, and therefore their expectations of future short term interest rates remain unchanged, what will happen to the yield on 10 year Treasury bonds?

4) If at a point in time long term interest rates were below short term interest rates, what would this indicate about investors expectations of future short term interest rates? Explain your answer in a few sentences.

5) If investors thought that a reduction in the Fed’s Federal Funds market interest rate target would cause inflation rates to increase in the future, what would happen to the shape of the treasury yield curve? Draw a diagram to illustrate your answer.

6) If interest rates and required yields at all maturities unexpectedly fell by .5% in a month, would a portfolio of long term securities perform differently than a portfolio of short term securities? explain your answer and relate it to the concept of interest rate risk.

7) Bond rating agencies such as Moody’s publish rankings of the credit quality of corporate borrowers. AAA rated corporations have the lowest level of default risk followed by AA and A the Baa, etc. Under what circumstances would the spreads between yields on bonds issued by ‘B’ rated corporations and yields on AA rated corporate bonds widen noticeably?

8) Suppose 1 year Treasury-bills were currently yielding 5.5%. Also suppose that a bank estimated that a particular loan applicant had a 30% chance of defaulting on a one year loan and that in the event of default the bank would recover only 25% of its scheduled payment of principle (estimated net proceeds of the sale of collateral). What interest rate would the bank have to charge to earn an expected rate of return on its loan equal to the T-bill rate?

Portfolio Theoretical Perspectives/Events

Portfolio Theoretical Perspectives/Events

(Portfolio Theoretical Perspectives/Events)

A diverse portfolio draws from multiple theoretical perspectives, incorporating Modern Portfolio Theory for risk management and efficient diversification. Events like geopolitical tensions, technological breakthroughs, and economic shifts influence asset valuations. Balancing these perspectives and reacting to events strategically enhances portfolio resilience and potential returns in dynamic markets.

(Portfolio Theoretical Perspectives/Events)

For each of the portfolio submissions, students will choose a real-world event – past or present – (e.g, natural disaster, political, criminal, economic, etc.) and explain that event based on one of the five major theoretical perspectives.  That is, in addition to describing the events, students will provide an analysis of that event from one of each of the five theoretical perspectives listed below.  For example, a submission could include an analysis of a presidential race based on the sociocultural perspective or an analysis of an active shooter incident based on the learning perspective.

  • Biological Perspective
  • Learning Perspective
  • Cognitive Perspective
  • Sociocultural Perspective
  • Psychodynamic Perspective

The portfolio should include all five perspectives and your write-up for each one should be approximately 500 words, although it is fine if it is longer than that.

Portfolio Guidelines/Format

The portfolio should be submitted in a paper folder with clasps in the center. No binders please!  Portfolio submissions must be typed.  Each page within the portfolio should be clearly titled with the theoretical perspective it addresses and the specific real-world event.

Example format:

  1. Theoretical Perspective: Sociocultural

Real-World Event:  2016 Presidential Race

(Below this heading is the write-up describing the event and your analysis based on the theoretical perspective you have chosen.)

  1. Theoretical Perspective: Learning

Real-World Example: San Bernadino Active Shooter Incident

(Below this heading is the write-up describing the event and your analysis based on the theoretical perspective you have chosen.)

Information from sources other than personal life experiences must include citations in APA format.
