Rhetorical Analysis Essay On Trump Impeachment Investigation

13 October 2019 An Argument for Trump’s Impeachment

Wu, Nicholas. “Joe Biden, for the First Time, Calls for Trump’s Impeachment.” USA Today, Gannett Satellite Information Network, 9 Oct. 2019, https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/ politics/elections/2019/10/09/joe-biden-calls-trumps-impeachment-first-time/3920985002/. For the first time Joe Biden calls for Trump’s impeachment, stating “The United States cannot afford to have a president who will abuse whatever power available to them to get reelected.” Biden is referring to Trump’s call with the Ukrainian government to investigate Biden and to explore the allegations about Ukraines role in the 2016 election. The article is provided by USA Today reporter Nicholas Wu, who went to Princeton University where he majored in Public and International Affairs. This article is relevant to my argument because Joe Biden has seen most things that go on in the White House especially after being Vice President for 8 years and now running for office himself.

Smith, David. “Pelosi Hits Back over Letter and Warns Trump: ‘You Will Be Held Accountable’.” The Guardian, Guardian News and Media, 9 Oct. 2019, https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ 2019/oct/09/nancy-pelosi-trump-impeachment-inquiry. Nancy Pelosi sent a missive to the White House saying that the Democratic Party is starting an investigation into Trump’s possible impeachment. Furthermore, the article talks about the White House’s response “Given that your inquiry any legitimate constitutional foundations, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the executive branch cannot be expected to participate in it.” It is relevant because an entire political party is trying to impeach the president meaning that there is a movement of people trying to make sure he is not reelected.

Blanton, Dana. “Fox News Poll: Record Support for Trump Impeachment.” Fox News, FOX News Network, 9 Oct. 2019, https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fox-news-poll-record-support- for-trump-impeachment. FOX News sent out a poll in July to see if voters supported Trump’s impeachment, 42% said they wanted him impeached and removed, however in recent months it has gone up to 51%. Since the first poll in July the amount of Democrats went up 11 points in wanting Trump impeached, Republicans went up 5 points and Independents went up 3. This poll created by FOX News shows that not only do Democratic voters want Trump impeached but also, Republicans wish to see Trump out of office which provides incite into the average Americans mindset.

Gerhardt, Michael J. “The Special Constitutional Structure of the Federal Impeachment Process.” Law and Contemporary Problems, vol. 63, no. 1/2, 2000, pp. 245–256. JSTOR, www.jstor.org/ stable/1192451. FIU Library According to scholarly article “The Special Constitutional Structure of the Federal Impeachment Process”, Congress are pragmatists more than formalists because they are expected to resolve issues by practical means. From the political accountability of the representatives from Congress, makes certain that the representative formulate pragmatic judgement defers to the understanding to the extent of their political circumstances and calculations. This journal article is from the FIU Library, its written by Michael J. Gerhardt who is a Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill. This journal article helps with my arguments because it talks about how Congress goes about the impeachment process; they also mentions what happened with Clinton’s impeachment.

Cornelison, Pam, and Ted Yanak. The Great American History Fact-Finder: the Who, What, Where, When, and Why of American History. Houghton Mifflin Co., 2004. FIU Library In 1999, Bill Clinton was charged with obstruction of justice because there was evidence of Clinton having sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky and went on TV saying “ I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” While the allegations of Stormy Daniels are not confirmed both of these situations are similar and could therefore lead Trump into a corner much like Bill Clinton. If he continues down this path, it seems more than likely he will face a trial and be impeached.

Wallbank, Derek. “Justin Amash, House Republican Trump Critic, Quitting the GOP .” Bloomberg.com, Bloomberg, 4 July 2019, www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-07-04/justin- amash-house-republican-trump-critic-quitting-the-gop. FIU Library Justin Amash, who was the co-founder of House Freedom Caucus, is the only House Republican to openly support Trump’s impeachment investigation. Amash has announced that he will quit the Republican party after it has become “disenchanted with party politics and frightened by what I see from it.” Amash sees that the republican party especially Donald Trump is behaving and performing impeachable acts and no longer wishes to be associated with the Republican Party. A lot of democratic politicians are in support of Trumps impeachment but it is virtually impossible to find someone credible within the Republican party who also supports the impeachment. With his support for the impeachment announced, there is officially a Republican side to the impeachment as well.

SOCW 6121 Week 9

Week 9: The Middle Stage

Once a group has met several times and is entering the middle stage of group progress, the clinical social worker should assess if the goals of the group plan are being met. This is especially important in groups that have a limited number of sessions. One of the ways a clinical social worker can keep the group on track is by preparing an agenda that parallels the needs of the members. Another way is by implementing strategies that create an atmosphere that feels safe for the members to share their personal stories. By the middle stage, the clinical social worker should have a familiarity with the different personalities in the group. This makes it much easier to implement strategies that empower the members and make them feel that they are received with positive regard.

Learning Objectives

Students will:
  • Analyze the purposes of group types
  • Analyze positive regard in group work
  • Analyze strengths-based strategies
  • Analyze empowerment strategies

Discussion: Positive Regard

Carl Rogers, a humanistic psychologist, believed that individuals must feel accepted for who they are in order to have a high level of self-worth (Farber & Doolin, 2011). Rogers coined the term “positive regard” to explain this concept of feeling accepted. Also, he believed that positive regard is essential to personal growth and self-actualization.

For this Discussion, view the “Johnson” video (Episode 3).

By Day 3

Post your description of the purpose of this group. Explain the use of empowerment and strengths-based strategies. How does “positive regard” impact the group session in this video? How might you respond to Talia when she voices her skepticism of the usefulness of group sharing?

response

Lisa Dunlavy RE: Discussion – Week 9COLLAPSE

The Johnson video clip introduces a support group for sexual assault survivors. It appears that there is a facilitator and five group members. All members of this support group experienced sexual assault, and Talia is the newest member. Talia Johnson, a 19-year-old junior in college, was recently assaulted at a fraternity party. When she shared with the group, she placed a lot of blame on herself for what happened. In response to Talia, another group member explained that at first she blamed herself for what happened. With some time, this group member came to accept that she was not to blame. In this group, the group members empower each other by sharing their shared experiences and feelings. Tosland and Rivas (2017) explained that the primary goals of support groups include fostering mutual aid, helping members cope with stressful life events, and revitalizing and enhancing members’ coping abilities. Even in this short clip, there is effort being made to reach these goals. The use of empowerment and strengths-based strategies can help members interact, connect, and participate during group sessions.

Positive regard refers to the belief that treating clients with consistent warmth and in a highly regarding manner encourages psychological growth (Farber & Doolin, 2011). With psychological growth, clients can fulfill their potential. The facilitator for the support group used positive regard by responding with acceptance and providing support. According to Farber and Doolin (2011), positive regard can strengthen the client’s ego and belief in his or her capacity to be engaged in an effective relationship. Through positive regard, the facilitator engages in the therapeutic process and emphasizes the group’s purpose.

It’s important to show acceptance and support when Talia voices her skepticism of the usefulness of group sharing. My response doesn’t only make an impact on Talia, but also affects all other members of the group. It may be beneficial to revisit the purpose and goals of the support group, as well as individual goals. Talia can come to recognize that there are shared experiences, purpose, and goals for the group. This can contribute to establishing a comfortable environment for Talia to share.

Assignment: Assessing Group Process 4: Group Project Goals

As a clinical social worker, evaluating the effectiveness of clinical strategies is an expectation of the NASW Code of Ethics (2017). Sometimes, clinical strategies and techniques that are effective in one setting may not work in another situation. It is important to understand what works and what doesn’t.

Also, self-assessment is an integral part of becoming a clinical social worker.

Describe the strategy (assigned in Week 7) you implemented in your Group Project.

  • Describe the process and the level of difficulty/comfort you found in doing this Assignment.
  • Explain how this strategy may or may not have empowered or supported the group.
  • Describe the progress of the group in completing the project/goal.

At this point, the literature review and the advantages and disadvantages should be complete.

Group Process Assignments should integrate course concepts related to group process. Assignments should demonstrate critical thought when applying course material to your group experience. Support ideas in your Assignment with APA citations from this week’s required resources

Journal Hw6

STUDENT’S JOURNAL ENTRY

As I progressed in this class I tried applying what I was learning to the world around me and open my eyes to things I do not see or take for granted. I never really considered myself part of the dominant group as I felt separate from it growing up homeschooled in a Romanian immigrant community. Looking back in retrospection I now that I have benefited from being white in ways I never even realized. By learning how others have struggled to gain access to treatment I never had to think twice about was eye opening.

I look white and have no accent, therefore there is nothing to set me apart from the dominant white culture around me. I never realized I was no different from them in their perspective but also from the perspective of other immigrants and minorities.  I can relate to the struggle to fit in and find a place in society because in my childhood we were different. We had an accent, dressed differently, and were poor.  However, I could not relate to how difficult it is for others to assimilate because as we lost our accents and entered the middle class the dominant group practically invited us in with open arms.

I have opened my eyes to things I’ve never seen and see how much further we have to go to create a truly open and fair society. There is so much injustice around us that I have never seen before and I feel ashamed for my lack of empathy for those around me.

Just to illustrate how blind I was to racism I have a little story. I have a Hispanic girlfriend, she is a Mexican immigrant in fact. Before taking this class she would occasionally express frustration with how she and her family were treated by hospital and school officials in her neighborhood. At the time I processed this as just people having a misunderstanding and that my girlfriend was probably overreacting. However as I started learning what racism in America really looks like, and that its not just hillbillies in pointy hats I began to notice things I never thought about.

I could see how my girlfriend would sometimes get different service in a negative way that was racially motivated. I finally understood why she wanted me to go with her to certain places like the DMV or car dealerships. She has been talked down to by others because see is a Mexican immigrant. As my eyes opened to her plight I saw how different her immigration story was to mine. I asked her about the time she spent in Texas where she said her family was the most mistreated by whites. I understood why she had angst towards the idea of visiting my family in Tennessee because she is somewhat traumatized by her childhood experience of crossing into a new land and being mistreated and seen as a second class person because she was different.

In hindsight I even noticed while taking this class that my treatment has changed because of her. Looking back at dates I have had in previous relationships I would occasionally receive sloppy service but always just assumed it was an overworked waiter, or just a grumpy one. Looking back at my current relationship there has definitely been considerable spike in bad service. I noticed more events where we would receive less attention that I was normally accustomed too. I do not want to over exaggerate, this is not a constant occurrence, however when comparing past relationships to this one there is a real tangible increase in bad service and in the number of times a waiter or waitress would pay less attention to my table than I was use too. The funny thing is that when I brought this up to my girlfriend she said that unlike me she noticed a considerable increase in her level of service since we started dating.

I never noticed this because I thought when people were racist against interracial couples that it would be more vocal and vulgar. I assumed it would be blatant because that is what I thought racism looked like. Now I see that the prejudice that leads to racism is much more intricate and subtle in most people. I think most people casually discriminate in a passive way. That is why most people cannot identify it when it happens all around them. I think in general we need to be more tolerant and understanding. I think we culturally lack compassion and blind ourselves to the plight of others because we assume everyone has the same opportunities we do. I now see that is not the case, and I am glad to be able to apply what I have learned to see the things that used to be unseen by my eyes. I hope to keep these eyes open and hopefully do my part to build the type of society I’d want to live in. One that is as open and fair as can be made, where every person has equal opportunities to build their dreams.

PHI 445 Week 4 Discussion 1

Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the Settings icon above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

The   Effects of Business on Consumers and the Environment: Case Study: Perdue   Farms

This discussion assignment   requires you to submit at least four posts: an initial post, two reply posts   to fellow students in threads other than your own, and a revised post.

Prepare: In preparation for your first post in this discussion,   you will become familiar with the case of Perdue Farms by means of the   material listed under Required Resources (Generally). You will also find more   material under Required Resources (Per Subject Heading) because the specific   task for this discussion is to examine this case with an eye for any one of   the following four subject headings in business ethics: (1) the environment,   (2) advertising, (3) consumer safety and (4) moral responsibility. You must select   one of these subject headings and your selection will be the specific focus   of your work for your discussion. Accordingly, you will be responsible to   complete the readings and videos listed under your chosen subject heading.

Reflect: If you choose the environment subject heading, reflect on   the sheer density of chickens raised at any given time in the Perdue   facilities. The disposal of their discarded remains and their processing for   distribution, either individually and most definitely together, pose a number   of environmental concerns.

If you choose the advertising   subject heading, reflect on how the two videos on Perdue farms present the   sharp contrast between the way the company presents its product and the way   in which it has been discovered to run its chicken farms. Consider whether   this is an example of failure to provide truth in advertising and how you   would support such a stance.

If you choose the consumer safety   subject heading, reflect on the way in which chickens raised in factory farms   risks consumer safety. These might include (a) bacterial contamination, (b)   the effects of antibiotics on the meat that is consumed, or (c) the release   of adrenaline, cortisone, and other chemicals resulting from the acute stress   endured by factory farm animals, which then becomes part of the meat that is   later consumed by humans.

If you choose the moral   responsibility heading, reflect on the stewardship role that may fall upon   humans toward non-human animals. Can we utilize them as mere means to an end   (for entertainment, companionship, or food)? Or do we have special   obligations toward them (e.g., not to mistreat or torture them and to   slaughter them quickly and without stress) because they are sentient beings?

Once you have completed the   indicated readings and videos, reflect on the ethical theories that we have   covered in the discussions thus far and identify one that you want to apply   for your analysis in your discussion post.

Also, reflect on the regulations   (or lack thereof) in the factory farming industry in order to be able to   examine how our nation’s laws affect the operations of the business. You   will need to research the applicable laws on the factory farming industry.

Finally, since Perdue Farms is an   American corporation, reflect on the mixed economic system in the United   States in order to articulate the setting for the operations of factory   farming, and then, be able to analyze the ethical actions of Perdue given   this setting.

Write: In the first part of your initial post, you will need to   introduce the Perdue case within the particular subject heading that you have   chosen. In this introduction, you will also need to (1) articulate the   relevant characteristics of our mixed economic system and (2) present the   regulations for the factory farming industry. These will provide the setting   for you to be able to examine how the nation’s laws affect its operations.

In the second part of your initial   post, present your analysis of the problem in a way that identifies which   entities (Perdue as a corporation, the economic system in the USA, the   regulatory control of the state, or all of these) have a role in the problem   that you have presented. In your analysis, you must assess the negative   effects of the interplay between business activity and one of the following:   the environment, advertising, consumer safety, or corporate social   responsibility. Your focus must be an ethical analysis of this interplay, and   it must be well supported by reliable and/or scholarly sources by clearly   identifying the ethical theory that you are applying in your analysis.

Revise: Read the feedback provided by your professor to your   initial post, either directly to you or to your fellow students. Use this as   an opportunity to learn from your professor, especially with regard to the   best ways to apply the course material and your research to your analysis. On   the basis of what you have learned in this process, post an improved revision   of your initial post that applies the additional knowledge that you have   gained.

Remember that your grade depends   on the quality of your initial and revised responses, not just on the   submission of an attempt at improvement. It is thus to your advantage to post   the best initial post you can and then to also improve that best effort as much   as you can through revision. Taking this process seriously will help you   develop the skills you need to do well on the Final Project.

Requirements for Your Initial   Post:

  • Your initial post should be at least 400 words in        length and have citations and references in APA notation. It should        address the prompt in its entirety. This means that you should not split        your response to the prompt in multiple posts. Your examination should        be both thorough and succinct. This is a combination that demands time        and thought, so give yourself sufficient time to draft and revise.
  • Please be advised that until you post, you will not        see what your fellow students are posting. Once you submit your post,        you will be able to view the posts from your other classmates. You can        then proceed to reply to at least two different threads based on the        required material for this discussion.
  • Your list of references for your initial post should        include the videos and the other required reading material for this        discussion, the Instructor Guidance, and any other announcements        presented to you by your professor. List all the course material that        informed your work in the list of references and cite these too where        appropriate. In addition, your references should include any other        sources that you consult to inform yourself (but not Wikipedia or        similar sources).
  • Your initial post for this discussion should be        submitted no later than the end of Thursday (11:59 pm, U.S. Mountain        time).

Requirements for Replies to Other   Threads:

  • At least two of the four posts required should be in        the form of replies to fellow classmates in threads other than your own.
  • Each of your replies should be at least 200 words        and informed by the course material. As such, the replies must have        citations and references in APA notation. Your list of references for        each reply should include all of the course material that has informed        your reply, in addition to any research that you have obtained on your        own.
  • Your replies should focus on the specific examination        presented by your fellow student, and these should include an        examination of whether or not the characteristics of the ethical theory        and/or economic system were identified well, and whether or not their        application and analysis was also carried out successfully. Providing        such an examination is not an attack on your fellow student but an        attempt to work together with your fellow student toward the better        understanding of the ethical theories employed, as well as their        application.

Requirements for Revising   Your Initial Post:

  • Submit a revision of your initial post by either        replying to your own post, or to the feedback provided to you by your        professor.
  • There is no minimum word requirement for your revised        initial post. But you should always explain the reasons for revising        your post so that it is clear what you are doing. If you are revising        only a few words, or an ethical theory, you should not just submit a        post with vague language such as: “duty ethics works better here” or “I        did not consider the economic system.” It is important to recognize that        no one can read your mind so you need to provide the setting for your        revision (Why? What prompted it? What course material informed you?) ,        and it is important to write in clear language and complete sentences.
  • Your revised initial post is your chance to correct        any oversights or errors in your initial post, or show your improved        understanding of the material and its applications to the case at hand.        You may, for example, come to the realization that another ethical        theory is better than the one that you initially chose. Accordingly,        your revision should indicate that you chose another ethical theory and        an explanation why you find the replacement more suitable. You may also        find the need to revise any relevant portions of your analysis. Or, you        might have realized that your conclusion did not take into account        important factors necessary for your evaluation of the situation.
  • You should maximize the improvement of your initial        post by employing your professor’s feedback as a guide. Keep in mind that you may not always receive direct        feedback from your professor. But your professor will have submitted        feedback in the discussion to other posts. So read your professor’s        feedback whether it is addressed to you directlyor to other fellow        students. This will give you much to think about and apply to your own        post.
  • If your professor or a fellow classmate responds to        your revised initial post, and on this basis, you find good reason to        submit yet another revision, then by all means do so. The more you        improve your initial post, the more you will benefit both in terms of        your learning and most likely your grade.

Introduction : Alyssa

Andrew Carnegie once said, “Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision”. A critical part of project management is maintaining effective communication and conflict management plans to ensure efficiencies and positive group performance. Knowing, understanding, and implementing proper procedures throughout a project will help a group reach their goal. This plan aims to provide norms and guidelines for team Incommunicado to follow in order to mitigate miscommunication, ensure proper conflict resolution, and foster optimal group performance. The purpose of the group communication and conflict management (GCCM) Plan is to ensure each class member has the knowledge and expertise to develop a real-world plan (UMGC PMAN 638, 2021). Comment by Megan Purdy: Is this from somewhere? Does it need to have a page or paragraph number? Comment by Alyssa Peters: This comes from the assignments main document. This may need to be cited in a different way.

Foundation of Communication : Alyssa

Transmitting information is essential for a team’s ability to operate. The ability to effectively communicate is imperative for the team to be successful in planning, organizing, and leading projects (Communication in Organizations, n.d.). It is important to understand the skills needed to manage human elements within project management and create a proper plan for members to follow. Team Incommunicado will plan for proper communication throughout the entirety of the semester. Having this foundation will ensure all team members remain active, maintain the flow of information, and increase our communication skills as a team.

Mission Statement: Alyssa

Team Incommunicado’s mission statement is to compile a graduate level GCCM Plan which mitigates miscommunication, ensures proper conflict resolution, and fosters optimal group performance.

Objectives: Alyssa

Objectives provide a blueprint which determines the course of action for the group (Encyclopedia of Management, 2009). The main objective of the PMAN 638 group project is to “compile a group communication and conflict management (GCCM) plan which can be used by the group to improve effectiveness when working together on projects within a virtual setting” (UMGC PMAN 638, 2021). The team will ensure this plan will be a “how-to” action plan and not a research paper. This document will be compiled throughout the semester with input from all members of the group. Comment by Megan Purdy: Should this have a page or paragraph number at the end of the citation?

Team Communication: Hitesh

According to PMBOK (2017) Communication is a method of how information can be sent or received via meetings, presentations, emails, and documentation. The Project Manager Megan will host a bi-weekly WhatsApp teleconference on Wednesday’s at 6 pm EST and Sunday’s at 5 pm EST with the team. Team Incommunicado will discuss the project’s status, discuss any issues, and review the project timeline and deliverables. The team will also communicate via emails and texts on WhatsApp. The weekly meeting is where most of the team’s decisions will be made, and all the team members are expected to participate actively. Comment by Megan Purdy: I believe it should be According to PMBOK (2017)….. and then at the end of documentation, it should say (p.361).

Team Members Identification: Hitesh

Team Incommunicado team members consist of Nouri, Hitesh, Alyssa, Megan, and Cynthia, who will be collaborating over the semester through several deliverables. Team Goal Setting: Hitesh

Team Incommunicado’s main goal is to design an action plan that will resolve issues related to conflicts and communication that might arise within the group. This plan will help identify potential problems during the project and help understand and suggest the best resolution.

Team Culture and Norms: Hitesh All members of Team Incommunicado should comply with listening effectively, address questions, respond to situations, assist in resolving conflict and motivate the team.

The fundamental team norms include:

· All the team will share the mission and expectations. Comment by Megan Purdy: Make sure this is all consistent. Either have it say “All team members” or “the team” or erase both of them and just put the actual items

· All members of the team will develop policies and procedures.

· All team members will actively listen to the suggestions and viewpoints of the other members.

· All team members will respect each other.

· All team members will adhere to the confidentiality agreement and trust that the discussed items are confidential.

· All feedback and criticism will be dealt with in a professional manner.

· The team will meet twice a week to discuss the project status and follow up on the edits required on the document as per the feedback and comments. Comment by Megan Purdy: I would put if needed,…

· The team will use Microsoft OneDrive for document management.

· The team will use WhatsApp for the meeting and communication.

· All team members will be responsible and accountable for the tasks assigned to them.

Project Communication Management: Cynthia

Team Incommunicado project communication strategy would be positioned in place and followed for the project’s duration to promote reliable communication and distribution of information during an attempt to execute a project (Samáková et al., 2017, pp. 51-62). Communication is crucial to this project’s success, and that achievement can be accomplished more effectively with the following steps, resources, strategies, and methods defined. Comment by Megan Purdy: Does this have a page or paragraph number? Comment by Hitesh Giri: APA 7 intext for multiple pages is (Author, Year, pp. 11-12)

The first step of contact would be in writing to be transmitted through email. This communication will alert all project stakeholders and project team members to move forward (Muszyńska, 2016. pp. 1179-1188). The second contact phase would be from the members of the project team to the project manager. The core details behind the possible ideas for enhancing the project outcome will be detailed in this communication. Step three will include the HR department and project manager. In addition to insurance options and the organization’s policies concerning the project, they will have gathered the details previously given (Muszyńska, 2016, pp.1179-1188). This information will be forwarded for review and approval to the executive stakeholders to move forward. A status update will again be sent out following acceptance or rejection. The final step of contact will be geared towards the investigator’s personnel who will use the software. To get the process going, they will be presented with an information packet outlining what information they need to provide (Muszyńska, 2016. pp. 1179-1188). A quarterly report from the project manager to the executive stakeholders will also be included in this final process, outlining all the relevant details, such as savings given to the organization and changes in investigation numbers. Communication Planning: Cynthia Comment by Megan Purdy: Not sure about this section. We need to discuss.

Communications management for Team Incommunicado is about keeping everybody in the loop. The first step in defining communication plan is figuring out what kind of communication your stakeholders need from the project so they can make good decisions. This is called the communications requirements analysis. Communications technology has a major impact on how you keep people in the loop. Methods of communicating can take many forms, such as written reports, conversations, email, formal status reports, meetings, online databases, online schedules, and project websites.

To create a communication plan, Team Incommunicado must clearly identify the following:

· Identifying required stakeholders needed this action will improve team members collaboration.

· It is very important for Team Incommunicado to Identify stakeholder expectations.

· Team Incommunicado must Identify communication needed to satisfy stakeholder expectations and keep them informed.

· The timing or frequency of Team Incommunicado communication messages is key to its success.

· Identify how the message will be communicated.

· Clearly identify who will communication each message.

· Documentation of items – templates, formats, or documents the project must use for communicating is also very important.

Stakeholder Management: Cynthia

Stakeholder Management involves the procedures necessary to recognize individuals, groups, and organizations that may influence or be influenced by the project and to analyze stakeholder expectations and their effects on the project. Team Incommunicado stakeholder’s management plan entails appropriate strategies and methods for effective stakeholder engagement and participation (de Oliveira & Rabechini Jr, 2019. pp. 131-144). Incommunicado stakeholder management plan seeks to ensure that stakeholders are actively involved in project decisions and execution over the project’s life cycle to gain project support and anticipate resistance, dispute, or contradictory objectives among the project’s stakeholders. The Stakeholder Management Plan includes several sections: Comment by Megan Purdy: page or paragraph numbers?

· To identify individuals, entities, and organizations by name and title, which significantly impact the project’s course and progress or are significantly influenced by the project.

· By defining the methods and processes to be used. We are achieving the most significant stakeholder support and minimizing opposition. Comment by Alyssa Peters: What is our team’s stakeholder management plan?

· To set the procedures and actions that will be undertaken to carry out the plans expected.

· To describe the strategies used to track stakeholders’ engagement and alert the project team if issues occur.

Effective Team Leadership : Cynthia Comment by Alyssa Peters: We need to make sure we show how is our team going to instate effective leadership

Effective team leadership is not something you can achieve overnight. In fact, it is something you can spend an entire lifetime mastering. The best team leaders know that providing vision and motivation to a team is not something you ever “perfect,” but rather an area for continuous improvement. For leadership to be effective in Team Incommunicado, the following must be extremely considered:

· Team Incommunicado Leadership Style: This can be achieved by spending a few days mulling these points, talking to people who know you well, and even trying to write down a clear vision of your team leadership style.

· Effective Team Leaders Make Time to Lead: This is very important because without that time investment, you are just not going to have an effective team leadership style.
· Know Your People, this is very important because knowing your team members at Team incommunicado simply means knowing how to select the right person for any given role or project.
· Good Team Leaders Must Communicate amongst each other. There is not anything more critical than being intentional in the way you communicate.
· Team Incommunicado Leaders Must Set Examples. Simply put, as a leader, you must Show them the kind of culture and the kind of values you want them to uphold.
· Effective Team Leaders Delegate. Team incommunicado leadership must learn to share responsibilities with others, and make sure they constantly surround themselves with the skilled and competent.
· Effective Team Leaders Make Decisions
The above mentioned shall help Team Incommunicado improve its Team leadership.
Team Conflict Management Plan: Nouri

Conflict naturally happens when people work together. Conflict can encompass relatively minor issues such as how to achieve a task, or it can be more profound. Conflict of any type can break down trust and communication and foster confusion. Therefore, conflict needs to be nipped in the bud. This includes acknowledging and discussing it. A solution then needs to be agreed to and implemented. Conflict can be damaging if left unresolved. It creates uncertainty, affects morale and undermines the effectiveness of a team. Eventually this can result in a delay, or even failure, to deliver the objectives. There are multiple potential conflict sources, including: limited resources, poorly defined roles, personality conflicts, poor communication, and badly articulated goals. To mitigate conflicts, a GCCM Plan will be implemented. “The term conflict refers to perceived incompatibilities resulting typically from some form of interference or opposition and conflict management is the employment of strategies to correct these perceived differences in a positive manner” (Conflict Management and Negotiation, 2009.) Conflict Management and Negotiation (2009) suggests five potential conflict resolution approaches:

· Avoiding Conflict – conflict avoidance means that problems are not acknowledged or discussed. This approach lacks both assertiveness and cooperation.

· Competing Conflict – this approach emphasizes the interests of one person over the group’s preferences and goals. Frequently, this can be summed up as a win-lose style.

· Accommodating Conflict – this approach hinges on a person being overly obliging. The obliging person sacrifices their own goals and ideas to make the teamwork.

· Compromising Conflict – in this approach, there is an agreement to disagree. Sometimes, this involves agreeing to bargain or make tradeoffs.

· Collaborating Conflict – this stands in almost direct opposition to competing conflict. It a win-win for all stakeholders.

Our goal is to ensure that our group will function appropriately with minimal conflicts. To achieve this, we will adopt various rules and guidelines:

· Team Ground Rules will lay out the guidelines for how team members can support each other and effectively communicate with one another.

· Group Norms refers to informal and often unspoken rules that shape how individuals within a group interact with one another. These norms set behavioral expectations.

· Role Definition refers to what activities group members will be responsible for performing.

· Communication Plan sets out rules and expectations for inter-group communication, it will also address how conflict should be dealt with.

· The Conflict Management Plan will be based on the PMBOK Guide 5th Edition and entails “handling, controlling, and guiding of a conflictual situation to achieve a resolution” (pp. 532).

When conflicts do occur, then our team will embrace the collaborating conflict style. We believe that this approach will most likely end with a successful final project. Another important approach that we will use is the A-E-I-O-U method, first introduced by Jerry Wisinski in 1993 in the book Resolving Conflicts on the Job. The A-E-I-O-U approach means that team members should use below steps:

A – assume team members are motivated by good intentions. E – each member must be able to articulate their own thoughts and feelings. I – identify the preferred outcomes. Not all outcomes are created equally. O – open-mindedness is essential. Show an open attitude that focuses on achieving the group’s goals. U – understand the solution and commit to it.

Respect is essential for group functioning. Team members also need to listen and be open. Transparency and trust and support are also essential. Group members need keep in mind that this is a group activity, not a “me” or “I” one. Team members should also be participatory. If these values are not kept in mind, then solutions may be impossible to achieve. The group should focus on the common good and remember that if the project can be successfully completed everyone will be benefitted; both team members and those who will use the final project.

Team Conflict: Nouri

Simply put, conflict references disagreements. In a group setting, conflict may happen when team members have different goals or display different behaviors or ideas. Different viewpoints may lead to an escalation that ultimately ends with conflict. Conflict makes many people uncomfortable and some people ignore this discomfort, others complain about it or assign blame. But, even with this discomfort, it is important to address conflict in a timely manner. It can be easier to deal with conflict if you understand that people come to the group with varied viewpoints. The first step in resolving a conflict is to acknowledge it. You can then begin discussions about its potential impact and agree to cooperate. Even though conflict is upsetting, it is also, in many ways, inevitable. However, steps can be taken to reduce the likelihood of conflict. For example, a project plan and roles should be articulated. There are multiple steps that can be taken to resolve these conflicts, such as: avoidance, accommodation, reconciliation, discussions (direct), and collaboration. Not all of these approaches are ideal. Some can result in a win-lose outcome. All team members need to be involved in discussions related to mitigating conflict. Ultimately, projects succeed or fail depending on the success of conflict resolution and the ability of team members to clearly articulate expectations. Communication is vital.

Conflict Categorization: Nouri

The three conflict types highlighted below disrupt team performance and create a sense of dissatisfaction. However, conflict is not necessarily detrimental in most situation. Conflict may boost team performance by encouraging people to share divergent opinions. This is especially true if the conflict stays away from relationship conflicts.

· Relationship Conflict: conflicts happen between stakeholders. These personality clashes are personal and take attention away from the project and its goals.

· Task conflict: this is a different type of conflict, based on goal differences.

· Process conflict: teams follow processes and procedures to reach a goal. But, disputes often happen around these processes and procedures. Sometimes, these conflicts are about things like resource allocation. They may also be about how au1thority is divvied up.

Conflict Management Strategies: Nouri

Even though conflict can be stressful, it is also normal. It happens in almost any situation in which more than one person is working on a project. There are multiple ways to address this conflict. Some methods are ineffective Band-Aids. On the other hand, other approaches may be more effective and stimulate reflection, respect, and enhanced understanding. An ineffective way to deal with conflict is via avoidance. Avoidance means not only addressing the conflict, it also means not exploring what is at the heart of the conflict. Even though it is damaging, it is an approach that is commonly used. And, it may be even more common in certain cultures. Saving face (personally) or detracting face (from an opponent) is another unhealthy approach to conflict resolution. “Face-detracting strategies often produce a defensive communication climate, inhibit listening, and allow for little room for collaboration” (Lardbucket, 2012).

On the other hand, conflict can also be addressed by embracing empathy and more specifically, empathetic listening. Empathetic listening means to actively listen for both direct and indirect cues to learn more about the conflict. Conflict resolution can also be achieved positively by managing emotions. Anger gets in the way of solutions. Therefore, take a breath and count to ten. This allows you to focus on the logic of a situation, rather than the emotions.

Negotiations and Debate: Megan

Manager skills: Megan

Managers are needed in every group and project. Team Incommunicado Project Manager is Megan. Megan is responsible for managing the team resources to include the group members and tasks.

Coordinating and facilitating the weekly meetings is a primary responsibility of the Project Manager. The PM needs to ensure the meetings are handled with kindness and respected, stay on task, are orderly, and problems are resolved in a timely manner.

As managers are task oriented, they tend to focus on checking off their must-do list. Managers focus on setting, measuring, and achieving their goals. The number one goal of a PM is to ensure all tasks are complete. A PM will do everything they can to accurately and successfully accomplish their goals even if it means helping with other team members’ tasks if needed. For instance, if a team member is falling behind on their assigned tasks and/or is not completing it to the assigned standards, the PM will work to help the team member. If the team member is still not meeting assigned standards, the PM can either delegate the task(s) to another team member or work on the task themselves.

Managers focus on refining processes to ensure a successful project. If a process is not adequate, managers focus on altering the current process to make it suitable. Being risky is not a skill that many managers follow. Managers tend to work to minimize risks and not create new ones. When risks or problems do arise, managers are quick to try to find a solution to them.

Leadership skills: Megan

Kaliski & Haynes (2007) stated that “leadership is the process of guiding the behavior of others toward an organization’s goal” (para. 1). Leaders aim to see their employees succeed. A great leader must be very intelligent as they are responsible for leading the team to a successful project/outcome. Being intelligent means the leader must have “general mental ability, be able to control their own emotions and understand other people’s emotions, their internal motivation, and their social skills” (Chapter 10 Leading People and Organizations, n.d., para. 5).

Leaders must have high self-esteem in order to effectively lead a team. “The degree to which people are at peace with themselves and have an overall positive assessment of their self-worth and capabilities seems to be relevant to whether they will be viewed as leader” (Chapter 10 Leading People and Organizations, n.d., para. 9). Group members can sense when a person is not confident in themselves or their abilities to do a job. When someone else senses this lack of confidence, they tend to not ask for their opinion or take their expertise.

Providing mentorship to others is a skill that team leaders like to embrace. Team leaders will share their experiences and expertise with other team members, not to show that they are better or smarter than others, but instead, they like to help others and help them succeed. According to Mentor Loop, “Leadership mentoring enables mentees to see what great leadership looks like, as the mentor is technically leading them; using soft leadership skills to effectively communicate; leadership skills to encourage them and drive them forward; and hard leadership skills to hold them accountability for real progress” (Lloyd, 2020, para. 7). Mentoring can teach the other group members valuable knowledge and expertise.

Encouraging and motivating group members is another great leadership skill. When a group member is feeling down or like they want to give up, the leader should be the person to step in and encourage the group member to keep going and that they are almost at the finish line. Leaders encourage their group members to shoot for the stars and to not give up. A leader is not one to hold the group member back – instead, the leader encourages them to keep going.

The leader gives praise to their group members. The leader should not put down their group members, instead they should focus on giving praise when it is earned. If a group member does an exceptional job on a task, the leader should praise that group member and show them that it was appreciated. Group members don’t need to hear praise over every task that has been complete, however; receiving praise occasionally always ensures everyone is happy and motivated to continue to provide excellent work.

Negotiation skills: Megan

Negotiation is the process between two or more conflicting parties to reach an agreement. As negotiations are common among groups, it is important for our group to know how to negotiate properly. Negotiating should not be an unfair transaction, instead both parties should choose to be fair and honest. No one will want to work with someone if they are always trying get the upper hand, be unfair, and make dishonest decisions. Once someone has been treated badly once by someone, generally, they are weary to work with them again.

It’s important for all our group members to let go of our egos as negotiations should be fair deals and not one-sided. Both parties need to feel comfortable with the decision. Being emotional can come in the way of negotiations. It is important for everyone to leave their emotions out of the negotiating room as a level head is the best. It is also important for everyone to leave past negative experiences out of current negotiations. Yes, a bad deal can leave a bad taste in one’s mouth, but it is important to remember that was in the past, not currently and not in the future.

Negotiations with group members from different cultural backgrounds should be handled differently than negotiations with individuals with the same culture. When negotiating with team members from different cultures, it is important to understand the culture of the individual(s) one is negotiating with. Not understanding cultural differences is a common communication problem across the globe. As each culture has a different tolerance for conflict, it is extremely important to understand each culture before trying to work through issues. Some countries, like Japan and Pakistan, tend to not trust others until a strong relationship is formed. Other countries, like the United States, tend to focus on “getting down to business” rather than forming relationships. It is extremely important to understand each culture view of when to get to business and how to get to business. In many cultures, handling business incorrectly can be seen as disrespectful and can weaken relationships and business transactions.

It is important to note that when dealing with negotiations, once an offer has been made, the offer should not instantly be accepted. Offers need to be investigated thoroughly and determined if they will be adequate. It’s important to remember that an offer may only come once, so knowing when to accept is important.

Normalization Of Human Trafficking

Do an internet search and analyze the lyrics of a song that glamorizes/glorifies pimping, and/or the acceptance of the objectification of women, and/or the normalization of human trafficking.

1) Somewhere at the top of your page, indicate the name of the song and the artist. You must include a link to the lyrics of the song within the assignment.

2) Discuss your interpretation of the song. Questions to address in your response:

  • Discuss the use of terms or phrases that signal the acceptance of the objectification of women, glamorize pimping, or normalize human trafficking
  • Discuss the power dynamics at play here
  • Discuss any inequality, oppression, and/or discrimination at play
  • Discuss if and how these problems are value-laden

For example, if they are mentioned, discuss how the terms “pimp” or “hoe” are used in the music lyrics. Is the way they are used problematic? What does the use of these words imply? Does the use of the words suggest the normalization of human trafficking? If these words aren’t used, what other term(s) or phrase(s) may be used that suggest the same thing?

3) What role do male consumers have in perpetrating popular culture through music lyrics that marginalize, victimize, and oppress women?

4) Explain the oppression and exploitation presented in the song lyrics through the lens of Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality (gender, race and ethnicity, socioeconomic status, nativity, immigration status, and others). This is your chance to show me that you’ve done the reading. The more connections you make to the text, the more points you will earn for this question. Your connections to the text should be strong, specific, and numerous.

In addition to using the textbook, you must also properly use two (2) academic sources.

Strategic Management- Quick Assignment (Just Need Two Responses About 200 Words Each)

Place yourself in the role of a market manager at Harley Davidson. Your company, Harley-Davidson, has chosen to compete in various country markets in Europe and Asia using an export strategy. Read the sections of its latest annual reports from 2009 and 2010 at www.harley-davidson.com related to its international operations. Why does it seem that the company has avoided developing production facilities outside the United States?

Harley-Davidson is a company of many strengths, from their dedicated and loyal customers, to the quality American engineered engines, and their strong culture with roots that go deep. The popularity of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle might have begun here in America but it definitely did not stop there. From Canada to the UK and now Europe and Asia…no one has been able to replicate the powerful cruiser motorcycle design so many Harley-Davidson riders respect. “We see it in the motorcycles they ride, the individuality they express and their dedication to the ultimate riding experience. When you have such an expansive and devoted global community of riders, it’s more than a business advantage; it’s an obligation we take very seriously to exceed expectations” (Anonymous, 2009). Harley-Davidson’s senior management wisely revised their business strategy to encompass its’ opportunity for global expansion and growth. By reexamining their strategy to meet the transnational demands of global consumers, Harley-Davidson has increased its global footprint and overall sales. Developing a global strategy involves the company employing the same basic competitive approach in all countries where it operates, sells the same product, in our case motorcycles, everywhere, striving to build and maintain their global brand, and coordinating its actions worldwide with strong communication and control (Thompson, 2012). <o:p></o:p>

Companies that are successful at translating their company’s brand globally, are ones that take into account other cultures and tailor their product to meet their needs. Examples from the text include Unilever developing single load detergent packets versus a large quantity product to impoverished countries where they only focus on buying what is needed for the immediate use. Unilever surveyed the country, its culture, and how consumers operate and then set out to create a product that would meet the needs of the consumer. The result was an overwhelming success. From the 2009 Annual Report of Harley-Davidson, the company outlined its goals for global outreach: “A disciplined, systematic approach is also key to growing our global family in places like India, where we are taking a primary role in defining the emerging leisure riding market. We’ve studied the <o:p></o:p>

market in depth, laid the groundwork and will start selling this summer. And<o:p></o:p>

consumer enthusiasm is greater than we ever imagined” (Anonymous, 2009). Expansion to the European market was met with great success as well. From 2009 to present, Harley-Davidson has been a major player in Europe, climbing up to the number 3 spot for heavy weight motorcycles. <o:p></o:p>

Harley-Davidson’s one hundred year iconic history and culture, coupled with state of the art engineering and craftsmanship in their motorcycles, has been key to their success in the past and onward for the future. Their short term goal is to have 40% of their total international retail unit sales of Harley-Davidson motorcycles by 2014. With their history of fine-tuning their business strategy to meet the needs of the economy, the demands of their customers, and the needs of different international markets, I have no doubt Harley-Davidson will live on for at least another hundred years to come.

Student 2 response

Beginning in 1907, Harley Davidson was put together by two friends, Arthur Davidson and William Harley, who wanted to develop a motor-powered bicycle (Harley Davidson History, n.d.). The company has since evolved into a multinational multibillion-dollar company.

Over the years, Harley-Davidson has expanded into a number of different markets and countries; however, they have not shipped production overseas. The executives at Harley Davidson explicitly explain why production overseas would not be a financially sound decision. International sales reflect regional riding seasons, and dealers tend to stock less inventory during the off seasons (Harley Davidson, Inc., 2011, p. 9). With seasonal sales being an issue, Harley Davidson explains that international production would not be level throughout the year. Also, international sales total approximately 33 percent of total sales, more data supporting the idea that international production is not a sound business decision at this point (Harley Davidson, Inc., 2011, p. 6).

Regulation also plays a large role in any American company’s decision to move production to other countries. Not just regulations from the U.S. government but also regulations from the host country are considerations. Moving production would reduce the production needs from home facilities supplying international inventory, limiting time and/or jobs in U.S. factories.
