Assignment 3: Ethical Dilemmas

There are a variety of ethical issues to take into account when working with law enforcement professionals. In your role as a mental health professional, you may sometimes encounter ethical dilemmas. This assignment helps you identify and further examine some of those dilemmas.

Using the module readings and the Argosy University online library resources, conduct research on potential ethical implications of working within a police and public safety environment.

Tasks:

Create a 2- to 3-page paper in a Microsoft Word document by responding to the following:

  • List and describe three to four commonly occurring ethical dilemmas that you might encounter. Support these with relevant research.
  • Explain the ways in which there is a potential for dual relationships as a police psychologist. When and under what circumstances may dual relationships be unethical and inadvisable?
  • Describe in detail one real-world example of an ethical dilemma from your experiences or research and explain how you would address the issue.

Support your responses by giving reasons and examples from scholarly resources.

Apply APA standards to cite sources.
