Question description

Submit by 2359 (CT) Saturday at the close of Module 3.(Catheter related UTI)

Name Date:

Overview: “Information Retrieval Paper – Part 1”

This Module you will begin to develop an Information Retrieval Paper. This Assignment focuses on identifying appropriate evidence-based nursing practices related to specific problems you may identify as you work in the healthcare/workplace setting.

The goals of an Information Retrieval Paper are to (1) practice using APA format, (2) summarize and examine the strengths and limitations of research articles, and (3) prepare you for the Nursing Research Course where you will write a research paper using the skills you have learned completing this Information Retrieval Paper.

As a part of your Information Retrieval Paper, you will begin development of a research question using PICO format. Chapter 10 of the Role Development text book explains PICO. Be sure to develop your research question and then just below your research question delineate what the P, I, C, and O components of your question are.

For this Module 3 Assignment you will prepare a Title Page in proper APA format for your Information Retrieval Paper, identify three peer-reviewed articles, and summarize each article using APA format.

It may be helpful to look at the outline for the entire paper before you begin this Module’s Assignment. Assignments in this Module plus in Module 4 and 5 will address the Information Retrieval Paper.

Part 1: Research Problem and Question using PICO Format(Catheter related UTI)

A.In the space below, identify the clinical problem in the workplace setting that will serve as the focus of your information retrieval paper. Make sure that the problem is one that would be under your complete control as a nurse.

Clinical Problem (Type in box below)

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) in Hospitalized Patient. C

B. In the space below, compose a preliminary research question about the clinical problem that you identified in the workplace. Use this criteria in composing a preliminary research question:

– Question must relate to a clinical problem in the workplace.

– Question cannot be answered with a simple yes or no.

– The issue to be studied is under your complete control as a nurse.

– The question is open ended.

Delineate the PICO components of your question.

State your question

Then under the question

P (problem) =

I (intervention) =

C (comparator) =

O (outcome) =

Preliminary Research Question and Identified PICO Criteria (Type in box below)

Problem: Catheter related to Urinary Tract Infection

Intervention: urinalysis or urine culture is a test that done to look for the red blood cells, white blood cells and bacteria. For effective intervention, it is important to test for chemicals such as nitrites in urine. This test is important since can diagnose the infection.

Comparator: the clinician need to interfere to find out if the infection has spread to the kidneys or is just in the bladder. The patient must take antibiotic as a way of preventing the infection from spreading to the kidneys.

Outcome: in a successive treatment, the infection symptoms will go away within 24-48 hours. However, if you have kidney infection, it can take a week or longer.

  1. Compose a rationale that explains why you chose the research question. (Type in box below)

Rationale for Selecting the Research Question (Type in box below)

I chose this research question because nurses too often fail to give proper care to patient who confine to an indwelling Foley catheter. urinary tract infection is a significant disease that can harm the whole urinary track if not catch on time and treat adequately. Also, because I believe UTI is preventable. Thus, urinary tract infection is a sensitive issue that needs to be focus on.

  1. After completing this portion of the Assignment, go to this module’s Discussion,
and follow the directions for sharing your research question. After receiving feedback
from your colleagues, revise your research question, if necessary, in the space provided.

Revised Research Question (Type in box below)

  • Complete after participating in the Module 3 Discussion. Type your revised Research Question in the box provided below.
  • “What interventions can be done to decrease the risk of UTI related infections in patients with Foley catheters?”

Part 2: Title Page Components

In this part of the Assignment, you will record the parts of the title page for your Information Retrieval Paper by typing into the text boxes in the graphic organizer that follows the instructions chart.

Overview

Where did you search for articles? How did you decide what articles to include?

I searched the articles on the internet. I decided what the articles to include basing on the clarity and relevance of the information contained in such articles. In my research, I was looking for professionally, scholarly and educational nature of the article.

Article 1

In the space below, post the reference for the first article in correct APA format.

O’sullivan, D.J. Fitzgerald, M.G., Meynell, M.J., & Malins, J. M. (2014). Urinary Tract Infection. British medical journal, 1(5228), 786.

In the space below, write a summary paragraph in APA format. Use scholarly writing to describe the article, the decision-making process you used to select the article, and how it addresses your research question. Use professional writing style.

The urinary tract infection is an infection that involves the ureters, kidneys, bladder and urethra. Any part of the urinary system can become infected. The farther up the urinary tract the infection is located, the more serious the infection can be. The UTI is more common in adults than in children. However, about 2% – 3% of the children get the urinary tract infection.

Article 2

In the space below, post the reference for the second article in correct APA format.

Lee, J.B., & Neild, G.H. (2013. Urinary tract infection. Medicine, 35(8), 435-456.

In the space below, write a summary paragraph in APA format. Use scholarly writing to describe the article, the decision-making process you used to select the article, and how it addresses your research question. Use professional writing style.

The symptoms of the urinary tract infections can either be complicated or uncomplicated. Uncomplicated infections can occur in health person and they are caused by Escherichia coli. On the other hand, the complicated infections are associated with functional, anatomical, or metabolic abnormalities of the urinary tract.

Article 3

In the space below, post the reference for the third article in correct APA format.

http://www.healthline.com/health/catheter-associat…

In the space below, write a summary paragraph in APA format. Use scholarly writing to describe the article, the decision-making process you used to select the article, and how it addresses your research question. Use professional writing style.

Ways to prevent catheter related UTI. Proper hands washing before and after handling the catheter; cleaning the catheter and the skin around the catheter every day. In addition, you must drain the drainage bag multiple times per day and keep the drainage bag below the bladder. Also making sure the catheter is not twist, changing out the catheter at least every month. Finally, the catheter must remove when there is no longer a need for it because the unnecessary use of catheters can be a cause for UTI.

In your initial post, explain how the APA Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct can be used to guide decisions in this ethically complex situation. Provide a suggested course of action for the clinic staff. Given the daughter’s age and the situation presented, integrate concepts developed from different psychological content domains to support your suggested course of action. Be certain to use evidence-based psychological concepts and theories to support your arguments. You may wish to consider the following questions as you construct your post.

  • Does the daughter have a right to know her diagnosis?
  • Does the mother have a right to not disclose the diagnosis to her daughter?
  • Does the mother have a right to privacy regarding her own diagnosis, which could be threatened if her daughter learns of her own status?
  • Should the staff tell the daughter if the mother does not want her to know?
  • If the daughter wants to know more about her condition, what should the staff say?
  • Are there other approaches the staff can take? If so, what are they?
  • Is further information required in order for you to create an ethically sound suggested course of action?

Designing Social Psychology Intervention

Designing Social Psychology Intervention

(Designing Social Psychology Intervention)

Designing an effective social psychology intervention involves several key steps aimed at addressing specific behaviors or attitudes. First, identify the target behavior or issue, such as reducing prejudice, increasing pro-environmental actions, or improving academic performance. Conduct a thorough literature review to understand existing theories and interventions related to the issue.

Next, define clear, measurable objectives. For instance, if the goal is to reduce prejudice, the objective could be to decrease implicit bias scores or increase positive intergroup interactions.

Develop the intervention strategy based on psychological theories. For instance, use the Theory of Planned Behavior to encourage recycling by altering attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. Incorporate social norms and role models to influence behavior change effectively.

Implement the intervention in a controlled setting to ensure the reliability of results. For example, use workshops, social media campaigns, or interactive activities to engage participants. Ensure the intervention is culturally sensitive and tailored to the specific audience.

Evaluate the intervention’s effectiveness using pre- and post-intervention assessments, such as surveys or behavioral observations. Analyze the data to determine the impact and identify areas for improvement.

Finally, disseminate the findings through academic publications, conferences, or community presentations to inform future interventions and contribute to the broader field of social psychology.

Designing Social Psychology Intervention

In the final week of this course, you will design an intervention to  address a specific problem you have identified utilizing social  psychological insight. In Week 2, you began this process by crafting a  topic statement.  This week, you will continue to develop your thoughts  by organizing them in the form of an outline, including an annotated  bibliography that summarizes your research thus far.  (For additional  guidance, review the resources for Outlining and creating an Annotated  Bibliography, available through the Ashford Writing Center.).  Note that  the purpose of this assignment, like the previous, is formative in  nature.  This is your chance to gain valuable feedback on the work you  have completed thus far, as well as guidance as you move forward.  To  take full advantage of this opportunity, be sure you submit a  substantive product.  Your outline and annotated bibliography should  encompass the following:

Describe social behavior.

Evaluate a problem.

Explain relevant social psychological theory.

Summarize intervention strategies.

The Outline and Annotated Bibliography

Must be at least 6  double-spaced pages in length and formatted  according to APA style as outlined in the Writing Center’s Introduction  to APA.

Must include an Outline and Annotated Bibliography.

Must utilize academic voice.

See the Academic Voice resource for additional guidance.

Must address the topic with critical thought.

Must use at least 10 peer-reviewed scholarly sources. Additional scholarly sources are encouraged.

See the Scholarly, Peer Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources table for additional guidance.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.

Evaluating Organizational Change Projects

Evaluating Organizational Change Projects

(Evaluating Organizational Change Projects)

Question description

question 1

(TCO All) For the next set of questions , you will first select ONE of the TCOs of the course. Then, you will be asked to write an essay about the project you worked on this term over your two companies’ change program based on the TCO you selected above. Select the TCO your essay question will cover:

TCO A – Given that progressive and successful companies require their employees to embrace change, examine how changing work conditions impact the employees.
TCO B – Given the inherent reality that all organizations must experience change in order to improve, demonstrate how “models” are used in Change Management, for diagnosing an organization’s need for change.
TCO C – Given external, internal and/or multi-levels of organization factors that drive change, assess and create a leadership model which supports and promotes each type of change within the organization.
TCO D – Given that an organization’s mission and vision will determine its strategy towards change, ensure that an organization’s change initiative is aligned with and capitalizes on its culture and mission in preparation for change.
TCO E – Given a selected Change Management implementation “model”, determine the causes of change and develop a plan of action to implement the change.
TCO F – Given that both organizations and their employees commonly resist change, understand how to recognize and overcome barriers to change and develop a strategy to manage resistance to change that will ensure successful implementation of change.
TCO G – Given that developing a “vision for change” and communicating that “vision” is a critical part of the change process, analyze the key elements of the “vision for change” and develop a strategy to communicate the change to the stakeholder.
TCO H – Given the organization’s goal of creating and implementing a sustainable change while moving toward becoming a “learning” organization, develop a plan to implement change in a sustainable manner that can be applied to any change.

Using the TCO you selected from the list above, which you felt was most relevant to your project this term, write an essay answer explaining how the change management you saw in one of your companies from your project this term followed or failed to follow the theory of success ingrained in the TCO you have selected.

State the #1 thing you think that company’s change agent did which most contributed to the success or failure of the change and why that relates to the TCO you selected.

  • Include in the answer the name of the company you are discussing.
  • Explain/analyze why you think this way.

question 2(Evaluating Organizational Change Projects)

(TCOs A, E) Your project this term asked you to compare and contrast two companies’ change projects or programs for change. This question will review what you learned about the change projects in a continuation of your project. It will ask you to apply course information to your project companies. For your answer, be sure to reference the names of the companies you studied in your project this term to help your instructor determine the score of your response.

Evaluate ONE of your two companies’ change interventions through the lens of Kotter’s Eight Step Model. State first the steps. (10 points) Assess how well the company realized each of the steps and what areas were less than successful in their implementation. Speak to those failed steps and what the implications were for the success or failure of the implementation. (10 points) Do you feel that Kotter’s model did assist (if it was used) or would have assisted (if you feel it wasn’t used) in this change? Why or why not? (15 points)

Question 3

(TCOs E,H) Your project this term asked you to compare and contrast two companies’ change projects or programs for change. This question will review what you learned about the change projects in a continuation of your project. It will ask you to apply course information to your project companies. For your answer, be sure to reference the names of the companies you studied in your project this term to help your instructor determine the score of your response.

Recall the article we discussed in Week 7, written by Beer and Nohria regarding O-Change and E-Change. State the change project which was at issue in both of your organizations you studied this term for your project. Were these projects mainly “O-Change”, “E-Change”, or a combination of both? Why do you think that? Use details from the article, “Cracking the Code of Change” to support your answer and give examples from the article and from your change project for your support.

Question 4(Evaluating Organizational Change Projects)

(TCO All) This question does not address your course project. This change scenario is envisioned instead, for this question. First, the scenario, and then the question.

Scenario: You have been asked to handle a project where the company is going to close the plant in your company and offer all of the workers an option of taking a buy-out severance package which is quite generous OR relocate to another state, where the business climate is much better (but the cost of living is higher and the style of living is lower). The current location of the company is in an area where people live well, the culture is great, and because it is in a college town, there are many fun things to do on weekends, plays to attend, sporting events, etc. The atmosphere is quite upbeat. The city where the company is moving to has very little in the way of entertainment, the housing costs are higher although not as nice, and property taxes are higher as well. The company is offering moving costs for relocation costs, but not house sale assistance. It is likely most of your employees are going to take the buy-out, but most of them are in their late 30s or early 40s and are not going to be happy about it.
The question: This term, we studied organizational development theory versus the more systematic nStep method of conducting a change process. What would be the pros/cons of using OD theory for this change project? What would be the pros/cons of using nStep? Which nStep would you recommend for this if you use one? Of the two methods (nStep or OD), which would you recommend we use for this particular change program? Why?

Question 5

(TCOs C,D) Your project this term asked you to compare and contrast two companies’ change projects or programs for change. This question will review what you learned about the change projects in a continuation of your project. It will ask you to apply course information to your project companies. For your answer, be sure to reference the names of the companies you studied in your project this term to help your instructor determine the score of your response.
Consider ONE of your company’s change projects (not both companies – just one.) State the company and the change process/program/project. Name the leader of the change from that company. Answer the following questions about that change:
A. Would you characterize your leader as the change “sponsor” or the change “implementer” of this change? Or was this leader in fact both? Describe the difference between a sponsor of change and an implementer of change, why they are both important, and why you feel your leader was one or the other.
B. Evaluate the leader’s implementation of the change as it compared to the company’s vision and mission statement. Were they aligned? Did this alignment (or misalignment) contribute to the success or failure of the change? Why or why not?

The article critiqued is Multicultural Differences in Women’s Expectations of Birth that was found in the AFB Journal in the spring of 2016.

When it comes to childbirth, expectant women may have expectations that are different than what will and does actually happen. The Mother’s expectations of the childbirth experience may also be very different than that of the healthcare provider that will manage her delivery.

Initial searches for article titles were performed by the researcher, key words used were combinations of childbirth, culture, expectations, anticipations, institutionalized racism, pregnancy, state of the science, transcultural nursing, birth, primipara and nullipara were used.

Abstracts and keywords were conducted using the following:

PubMed, SCOCINAH, Medline and grey literaturProQuestSigma Theta Tau International database.

Two seminal anthropologic texts (Jordan’s and Davis- Floyd’s book Birth in Four Cultures (1993), and Davis- Floyd ’s discussion of American birth, Birth as an American Rite of Passage (2003), related to birth were included. Both texts discussed the views of various cultures, including American/Western culture. Culture defines safe birth and postpartum practices, designed to preserve the life of the mother and infant, and the future maternal health and fertility.

The data collected:

Qualitative and Quantitative work was used. Most of the studies used were qualitative and included:

  • Ethnographic
  • Exploratory and Descriptive

Quantitative studies were predominantly descriptive surveys, comparison and/or correlation. Many of the studies were done in industrialized nations including the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand.

The questions and topics evaluated in the study covered personal behavior and control, provider behavior, support of family and partner, pain, western culture and hegemony, and the health of the baby.

Discussion and Conclusion:

It was determined that several issues arose that had a direst effect upon the validity of the study. Some of those issues were: Language barrier, African American women were not included in the research data (and to some extent, neither were women of Hispanic culture).Educational backgrounds were not diverse enough (one study only included professional women) Women of a lower socio-economic level were also not included.

The conclusion was that the study is missing vital data and further studies are required. This is an accurate conclusion.

Artistic Expression: Caring Concept Assignment

Artistic Expression: Caring Concept Assignment

Artistic Expression: Caring Concept Assignment

Artistic expression is a profound avenue for conveying the multifaceted nature of human care. Through various forms such as painting, sculpture, music, dance, and literature, artists explore and communicate the essence of caring in ways that transcend verbal language. This assignment focuses on understanding how artistic expression captures the spirit of care.

At its core, caring involves empathy, compassion, and connection, qualities that artists skillfully evoke through their work. For instance, Vincent van Gogh’s “The Starry Night” exudes a sense of solace and contemplation, reflecting the artist’s deep emotional connection to the world around him. The swirling skies and vibrant colors can be interpreted as a metaphor for the comforting embrace of nature, offering a visual representation of care and nurturing.

Similarly, in literature, the works of authors like Toni Morrison delve into the complexities of care within human relationships. Her novel “Beloved” portrays the intense, often painful, expressions of maternal care, exploring themes of sacrifice and the unbreakable bonds between mother and child. Through her rich narrative and character development, Morrison invites readers to empathize deeply with her characters, thereby fostering a broader understanding of care.

In music, compositions such as Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” encapsulate the universal joy and unity that stem from collective caring. The uplifting melody and harmonious structure symbolize the ideal of a caring community where each individual’s well-being is integral to the happiness of the whole.

Through these examples, it is evident that artistic expression not only reflects but also inspires the values of care and empathy. By engaging with art, individuals can gain deeper insights into the nature of care, encouraging them to embody these qualities in their own lives.

Applying Organizational Behavior Management

Applying Organizational Behavior Management

(Applying Organizational Behavior Management)

Original work ONLY: Turnitin will check for plagiarism. Kindly follow Rubric attached.

The following course outcome is assessed with the Unit 3 Assignment:

PS430-2: Analyze behavior management programs using fundamental principles of behavior.

PC-2.1: Achieve goals through planning and prioritization.

You are working as a behavioral consulting intern. Your company is taking on a new client, Shoreside Community-Based Residential Facility. Shoreside would like your company to provide consultation in their unit for adults with traumatic brain injury.

Shoreside management and staff have expressed a concern over increasing rates of disruptive behavior during community outings and have had little success with their current interventions. They believe they may need assistance with staff training and behavior management techniques.

The company uses some Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with their clients but has never used ABA at an organizational level. The Director recently learned about Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) and wants to know more about how basic concepts of ABA could be used at Shoreside. The Director of Shoreside believes this would be an effective way to address the problems within the organization.

Your manager has asked you to make a presentation to management and staff to provide more information about Organizational Behavior Management and how fundamental principles of behavior can be used in the organization. Shoreside is skeptical that the same principles they use with their clients could be applied to staff within the organization.

Using what you have learned about OBM and fundamental principles of behavior, you must create a PowerPoint presentation (minimum of 12 slides) consisting of the following:

  1. Provide an overview of Organizational Behavior Management:
    • Define and describe Organizational Behavior Management.
    • Identify and describe at least one specific application of OBM that is applicable to the above organization.
  2. Provide an overview of the general goals of an OBM/ABA based intervention:
    • Identify the role that individuals within organizations hold in relation to the successful planning and implementation of interventions
    • Describe how problems are prioritized and addressed.
  3. Define and describe fundamental principles of behavior and provide examples of how this is applied on an organizational level. Use nontechnical language when possible, so that all those attending the meeting understand your discussion:
    • Respondent Conditioning
    • Operant Conditioning
    • Verbal Behavior
  4. Describe why using a behavior analytic approach on all levels of the organization is preferred over a non-scientific approach.
  5. Discuss why principles of ABA are important in the development of behavior management programs.

The goal for this Assignment is to provide an overview of Organizational Behavior Management and describe the fundamental principles of behavior analysis. You should not create a solution for the given scenario. You should provide a beginning explanation of the above principles in order to introduce the staff to the use of behavior analysis on all levels within the organization.

Your PowerPoint presentation should have an APA Style title page and reference page. The sources of the information used in the preparation of your presentation should be cited with in-text citations in APA Style and should be reflected on your reference page.

Your PowerPoint should be a minimum of 12 slides in length, not including title and reference pages, include proper APA formatting (including properly formatted headings for each section of your plan), and include at least two academic references reference from :  Johnson C., Redmon W., Mawhinney T. (2001). Handbook of Organizational Performance, 1st Edition.

Scholarly Article Discussion Guidelines

Scholarly Article Discussion Guidelines

(Scholarly Article Discussion Guidelines)

(three pages)

General Information Once during the semester, each of you—along with one or two partners—will be required to lead the discussion on one of the assigned scholarly articles posted in Canvas. Leading a good discussion is a challenging exercise, and it will require solid preparation outside of class on your part. Below you will find guidelines on how to prepare for your article discussion. • You will be asked to select your partners and sign up for your article and discussion date on the first day of class. The date of your article discussion depends on which article you select (see schedule on syllabus).

• Your article discussion should be 30-45 minutes. Each discussion leader in the group should be responsible for leading the discussion for an equal amount of time (how you divide the content of your discussion is up to you).

• Good discussion leaders strike a balance between providing information on the one hand and stimulating thoughtful discussion on the other. You should come organized with a game plan (i.e., you should prepare outline-style notes that you will be required to turn in), but you should also be flexible in deviating somewhat from this game plan as the discussion evolves.

• You are not allowed to use PowerPoint (or other presentation software) for this assignment (it is too rigid). You are, however, free to write ideas and important points on the board as they emerge, project relevant external material with the class computer, or show relevant video clips.

• Your discussion of the article should address the following:

o The main purpose or thesis of the article.

o The three or four central or most important points made in the article. You need to avoid detailed article summary here—we have all read the article. If your article describes empirical research, be sure to describe briefly what the researchers did (method) and found (results).

o Connections between the content in your article and the Helgeson textbook. You are required to elaborate on at least TWO different connections between your article content and specific material from the Helgeson textbook (all textbook chapters are fair game for these connections). Identify chapter and page numbers of material used from text.

o One connection to material external to the article, such as a current news event, a film, a book, etc.

o The strengths and weaknesses of the article.

o Points or concepts in the article that are difficult to understand. Don’t simply identify these difficult points—also lead a discussion that clarifies them. Note that it is not acceptable to say that the article was perfectly clear and that no points/concepts needed clarification. If you need clarification on any of these points, be sure to come see me before your presentation. o What insights can be gained (or conclusions drawn) from the article.

o Interesting questions that you and your partner(s) generate based on the article content. As discussion leaders, you should come prepared with at least two interesting discussion questions on your article per discussion leader in your group (see DQ Guidelines for more information) that are designed to stimulate class discussion (you won’t necessarily have time to ask all of these questions, but it helps to come prepared). Also remember that each of your classmates (in the audience) will have written two discussion questions on the article, and you are welcome to ask classmates to share their questions during your discussion of the article. (continued)

(Scholarly Article Discussion Guidelines)

• In addressing each of these discussion components, you should strike a balance between providing information to the class and asking for your classmates’ input. Overall, your discussion should be about a 50-50 balance of you presenting information to the class and you asking for your classmates’ input. A discussion that leans too far in either direction is unbalanced. Use your judgment on when to present information and when to ask for it. However, be sure to seek class input and class discussion throughout your presentation; do not save it all for the end.

• Leading the article discussion is worth 100 points. In grading your presentation, I will be looking to see that you show a clear understanding of the article and engage the class in a meaningful discussion of it. I also expect you to address the discussion components listed previously (through a balanced combination of your input and your classmates’ input) in a clear and organized manner. Note that one way to demonstrate a strong understanding of the article is to connect it in a sophisticated way to material outside of this class. Finally, I will ask each member of the discussion team to rate the contributions of his or her team members, and I will take these ratings into consideration when assigning the discussion grades.

• Because we have a set schedule of readings and the class reads certain articles for particular class dates, it will not be possible for you to make up the article discussion assignment. It is thus very important for you to lead your article discussion on the designated date. If you realize that there is a conflict with your discussion date, you must make arrangements to switch discussion dates with someone else in the class well in advance of your scheduled date. Ground Rules for Healthy Class Discussion

• Only one person should speak at a time. The order of speaking should be determined by the presenter(s) in response to a show of hands.

• Everyone in the class should make at least one contribution during each discussion.

• Class members should keep comments brief and to-the-point (don’t dominate the discussion).

• Class members should keep comments focused on the topic at hand. If you bring up a new topic, you may be asked to hold onto it until the discussion is ready to move on to new points.

• Listen carefully to what others are saying and try to build on another speaker’s ideas.

• At the same time, remember that civil (respectful) disagreement is vital for healthy discussion.

• Be imaginative and exploratory—it is fine for you to pursue ideas regardless of whether you believe in them or not.

• Refrain from making any form of derogatory comments about other people. Show respect for all members of the classroom—and all groups of people—at all times. Our focus is on evaluating ideas, not the people who express the ideas.

Option Three

After watching filmmaker Robert Enrico’s 1962 adaptation of “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” (posted to Moodle), develop an essay in which you discuss how the short film reflects and/or deviates from the Naturalist aspects of Bierce’s story. Do not evaluate whether the film is “better than” or “worse than” the story. Instead, compare specific features of the story to specific features of the short film and assess the extent to which the film portrays the principles of Naturalist literature.
