Social Media Campaign

Design a social media campaign plan that the organization can follow. Spokes of Hope’s primary goals are to increase the number of people talking about the organization and to increase the number of donations they receive. They hope to reach a very large audience without having to use too many social media platforms. They are also hoping the campaign will increase their number of supporters in the following demographics:

Urban

Income of above $75,000

Women

Since Spokes of Hope wants to reach a specific audience, it will be essential to effectively use social media analytics to inform your plan.

Include the following sections in your plan:

1. Goals and Objectives

a. Set specific goals and objectives of the social media campaign.

b. Demonstrate that the plan’s goals and objectives are aligned with Spokes of Hope’s primary goals.

2. Metrics and Analysis

a. Define which metrics will be tracked to measure success throughout the campaign.

b. Analyze the graphs in the Project Resources about Spokes of Hope’s social media accounts. Explain how each metric (reach, engagement, and conversion) is measured, and what each means to Spokes of Hope.

3. Audience

a. Define your audience and describe how they use social media. Support your descriptions with demographic data from the Project Resources, or your own research.

4. Social Media Platforms

a. Select which social media platforms will be used.

b. Explain why these platforms are the best choices for your target audience.

5. Messaging

a. Identify which key messages will be sent and which will not. Support this by using the Topics Sentiment chart in the Social Media Graphs document. In particular, describe which topics:

· Are the most positive.

· Are the most negative.

· Are the most polarizing (both positive and negative).

b. Analyze the effectiveness of Spokes of Hope’s social media content on Twitter using the data in Project Resources. What works well and why? What does not work well and why?

c. Identify the best times to deploy content on social media for Spokes of Hope’s audience.

d. Describe what strategies Spokes of Hope should follow to make engaging content.

· Describe how Spokes of Hope can leverage “viral” content.

· Describe how Spokes of Hope can effectively use “memes.”

Throughout your campaign plan, be sure to give justifications for your decisions. Draw support from the Project Resources, including guidelines, audience data, and Spokes of Hope’s own social media metrics. All sources of information and media should be appropriately cited.

Respond To Six Posts, 6 – 7 Sentences Each

Respond to two original responses thoroughly in a manner that invites an extension of the conversation. In other words, “I totally agree with you” is NOT a sufficient response. Each peer response should be approximately 6 – 7 sentences, or a paragraph in length. Response needs strong structure and a logical flow. You don’t need to answer the original questions.

Part A

Original Questions

1. Find a current commercial or ad and provide the link so your classmates can view it (this can be a commercial – provide the link, or a print ad – post a photo).  Or you may describe the ad. 2. Explain which persuasive strategy you think is being used (famous person testimonial, plain-folks pitch, snob-appeal approach, bandwagon effect, hidden-fear appeal, irritation advertising). 3. Discuss whether or not you think this commercial or ad is effective. Why?

Student A’s post

https://cargocollective.com/jeffschuller/Simply-Potatoes This ad is a perfect example of ‘Plain Folks Appeal’ persuasive strategy. The whole point of this strategy is to use a common, ordinary person to sell something. Sometimes, people do not trust celebrities in advertisements, because in reality, celebrities are not very personable or relatable. When you use an ordinary person that is just “one of us”, people can relate to them. The idea of this approach is to use real people. People in the government tend to use this a lot too. They’ll open a speech by saying “I am just an ordinary citizen of this country who aspires to make a difference.”
In ‘Plain Folks Appeal’ you are trying to be one “of the audience”. You’re trying to convince the public so that they will trust you and you can gain their trust. In my eyes, it is way more effective to use plain folk on the ad than a famous person. I think a lot of people can agree with the fact that famous people are not relatable. So when you see a busy mom trying to balance her life, as we see on the add, it is more relatable than if a celebrity would replace her. An ad that shows a common family sitting down to have lunch and enjoying their product is more relatable than using a celebrity that is rich and can probably pay people to mouth feed them. Because people obviously assume that celebrities do not have a hard time, and they do not have to balance all of these activities. HOW WOULD THEY KNOW? right. This method is very popular in political ads like I had stated before. Take a look at the “Family Strong” ad from Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdKsA4q-FFA

Student B’s post

1. The current commercial/ad I decided to use for this discussion is the most recent surfaced ad of Kendall Jenner promoting Proactive.  https://www.proactiv.com/?uci=US-PA-O-PS-BR-GA- XXXX-107383&dclid=&gclid=CjwKCAiAyrXiBRAjEiwATI95mY0- mOplvr4iOzXmiUTroDHOBGoNIZmF8etSdS0TPs9imCDUcgtAjhoC0aAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc =aw.ds

2. I believe that the persuasive strategy that is being used in this ad is the famous person testimonial. I think that the ad is using the famous person testimonial because one of the biggest models Kendall Jenner is promoting the products of proactive in the ad.  3. I think that this commercial/ad is effective in the way of increasing proactive sales because of course, anyone who sees what Kendall Jenner uses for her skin regimen is going to buy it without questions asked. Therefore, having Kendall Jenner said she uses proactive and it was the life-changing product that transformed her skin is going to increase sales at proactive. She is now the face of Proactive as you see when you open the link I provided above. She has become an ambassador for the company which means she promotes their products and she is paid in return. Although, I believe that this is false advertisement, as well as many others, believe so in the media too. When this ad/ commercial surfaced the internet it faced a bit of controversy due to the fact that Kendall’s mother was teasing the internet before it was released. Mother, Kris Jenner was teasing the internet by saying days prior that Kendall had a major announcement for everyone and it is such an amazing thing that she will be releasing. Although, when the day came and the ad/commercial was released via social media on Kendalls’ account that is when the controversy began. Kendall was not taken seriously due to the fact that she was promoting a company Proactive in which many do not believe in fact she truly uses as her skin regimen. I too do not believe the ad/commercial because this woman is one of the top models in America it is hard to believe that she does not use another high- end product to achieve the flawless skin she has. It is a great move on the companies part to have her as an ambassador although, on the other hand, Kendall is receiving backlash for promoting this company without factual evidence that she truly uses this product and it cleared her acne problems.

Parkinson’s Disease Case Study

Parkinson’s Disease Case Study Details:

Background

Doug and his wife Maria have three adult children, all of whom are married with young children of their own. Doug works as a regional sales representative for a chemical company that produces plastics, chemicals, and agricultural products. He has been in the position for 15 years, having moved into this job after leaving a different company doing similar work. The job requires him to travel to give demonstrations of the products across a six-state region. This requires him to fly and drive in unfamiliar areas. Maria works as a junior high school principal. Doug and Maria are financially set for retirement at age 65. Overall, they are in good health. At the age of 60, Doug received a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease (PD).

Early phase

In the year before his diagnosis, Doug had three minor car accidents while he was traveling in unfamiliar territory. Maria was suspicious that the accidents were related to his PD and, after consulting with the neurologist and Doug, they decided he should no longer travel alone out of his immediate area. After a few months of traveling with a colleague, he reluctantly stepped down to a district sales representative position to stay closer to home. Within the next year, Doug started experiencing exacerbated (worsened) symptoms related to fine motor coordination, changes in speech, as well as anger, anxiety, and depression. The neurologist placed Doug on short-term disability at the age of 61. After six months on short-term disability, the law mandates that the individual must apply for Social Security Disability. Therefore, due to Doug’s health continuing to decline and his inability to return to work, Maria had to file for long-term disability for Doug. At first, Maria attempted to work with Doug to complete the disability paperwork. Doug was easily frustrated with formulating the responses to the questions on the forms; he did not know how to answer the questions nor where to find the information within their household records, so Maria hired a lawyer to complete the paperwork.

Three months after submitting the application, Doug was approved for Social Security Disability Income (SSDI). This was a significant drop in income. Doug’s employment income was twice that of Maria’s; he was bringing home $7500 per month. His SSDI income is $2788 per month. Since Doug left his full-time job, he was no longer eligible for health benefits from his employer. He is not eligible for Medicare under the disability guidelines until two years after payments begin. Maria completed the paperwork to add him to the health insurance through her job, which doubled her monthly contribution to health insurance. The decrease in household income required them to utilize their retirement funds earlier than planned. In addition, Maria knows, as the disease progresses, she may have to make decisions about her own full-time work as a principal, which will further strain their financial situation.

Middle phase

Doug and Maria enjoyed playing Scrabble with their friends Susan and Bob, who lived nearby. The two couples would get together every Saturday for some friendly competition along with dessert and lively discussion. A year after his diagnosis, Doug was exhibiting stooped posture and changes in his speech, which made it difficult to understand what he said. These were clear signs the disease was progressing. In some aspects of his life, he appeared to function well enough, such as easily performing most activities of daily living, but it became clear he struggled with activities in the game of Scrabble. For example, he was having a difficult time creating words from the tiles he chose, where to place them on the board, and he could no longer add up his points correctly. In addition, Doug was embarrassed because he continually knocked tiles out of place on the board, struggled to communicate clearly and interact with friends in a social situation. Doug felt a great deal of shame due to the changes and told Maria that he no longer wanted to participate in the weekly game night. This meant that Doug and Maria had less interaction in their own community and became more socially isolated, which is not uncommon for families with a chronically ill member.

Late phase

Doug was in charge of managing his own medications, which he needs four times a day. One day, about four years after his diagnosis, Maria was away from home at noon when Doug called her to ask what he was supposed to do with the noon pills. “I’m supposed to throw them out, right?” That was an early sign of dementia. It was a signal for Maria that Doug could no longer control his own medications and that he probably shouldn’t be left alone for very long. The incident marked the start of a steep decline in Doug’s cognitive and emotional abilities, and the couple’s relationship changed from one of partners to one of patient and caregiver. Maria relied on their children and other family members to help with Doug’s care, and she began looking for support groups to help her figure out how to handle the deteriorating situation. Even though she had a rotation of helpers, most of the work of Doug’s care was Maria’s responsibility.

Doug’s condition progressed to the point of needing full-time care in a skilled nursing facility a little more than a year later, after he lost the ability to stand up, even with help. He always needed two people to help him, and that just wasn’t possible at home. In addition to the tremendous emotional stress on the family, moving Doug to a skilled nursing facility further increased the financial burden. Maria made the decision to sell the house and move to a small apartment by herself. She had to spend the proceeds from their home to pay for Doug’s nursing home care before Medicaid would help pay for his care, due to the Medicaid eligibility spend-down requirements. Doug passed away five months after moving to the skilled nursing facility. Maria was still paying for his care out of the proceeds from the sale of their home, so she never received Medicaid assistance for Doug’s care.

Rhetorical Analysis Essay On Trump Impeachment Investigation

IDS3309

13 October 2019 An Argument for Trump’s Impeachment

Wu, Nicholas. “Joe Biden, for the First Time, Calls for Trump’s Impeachment.” USA Today, Gannett Satellite Information Network, 9 Oct. 2019, https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/ politics/elections/2019/10/09/joe-biden-calls-trumps-impeachment-first-time/3920985002/. For the first time Joe Biden calls for Trump’s impeachment, stating “The United States cannot afford to have a president who will abuse whatever power available to them to get reelected.” Biden is referring to Trump’s call with the Ukrainian government to investigate Biden and to explore the allegations about Ukraines role in the 2016 election. The article is provided by USA Today reporter Nicholas Wu, who went to Princeton University where he majored in Public and International Affairs. This article is relevant to my argument because Joe Biden has seen most things that go on in the White House especially after being Vice President for 8 years and now running for office himself.

Smith, David. “Pelosi Hits Back over Letter and Warns Trump: ‘You Will Be Held Accountable’.” The Guardian, Guardian News and Media, 9 Oct. 2019, https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ 2019/oct/09/nancy-pelosi-trump-impeachment-inquiry. Nancy Pelosi sent a missive to the White House saying that the Democratic Party is starting an investigation into Trump’s possible impeachment. Furthermore, the article talks about the White House’s response “Given that your inquiry any legitimate constitutional foundations, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the executive branch cannot be expected to participate in it.” It is relevant because an entire political party is trying to impeach the president meaning that there is a movement of people trying to make sure he is not reelected.

Blanton, Dana. “Fox News Poll: Record Support for Trump Impeachment.” Fox News, FOX News Network, 9 Oct. 2019, https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fox-news-poll-record-support- for-trump-impeachment. FOX News sent out a poll in July to see if voters supported Trump’s impeachment, 42% said they wanted him impeached and removed, however in recent months it has gone up to 51%. Since the first poll in July the amount of Democrats went up 11 points in wanting Trump impeached, Republicans went up 5 points and Independents went up 3. This poll created by FOX News shows that not only do Democratic voters want Trump impeached but also, Republicans wish to see Trump out of office which provides incite into the average Americans mindset.

Gerhardt, Michael J. “The Special Constitutional Structure of the Federal Impeachment Process.” Law and Contemporary Problems, vol. 63, no. 1/2, 2000, pp. 245–256. JSTOR, www.jstor.org/ stable/1192451. FIU Library According to scholarly article “The Special Constitutional Structure of the Federal Impeachment Process”, Congress are pragmatists more than formalists because they are expected to resolve issues by practical means. From the political accountability of the representatives from Congress, makes certain that the representative formulate pragmatic judgement defers to the understanding to the extent of their political circumstances and calculations. This journal article is from the FIU Library, its written by Michael J. Gerhardt who is a Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill. This journal article helps with my arguments because it talks about how Congress goes about the impeachment process; they also mentions what happened with Clinton’s impeachment.

Cornelison, Pam, and Ted Yanak. The Great American History Fact-Finder: the Who, What, Where, When, and Why of American History. Houghton Mifflin Co., 2004. FIU Library In 1999, Bill Clinton was charged with obstruction of justice because there was evidence of Clinton having sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky and went on TV saying “ I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” While the allegations of Stormy Daniels are not confirmed both of these situations are similar and could therefore lead Trump into a corner much like Bill Clinton. If he continues down this path, it seems more than likely he will face a trial and be impeached.

Wallbank, Derek. “Justin Amash, House Republican Trump Critic, Quitting the GOP .” Bloomberg.com, Bloomberg, 4 July 2019, www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-07-04/justin- amash-house-republican-trump-critic-quitting-the-gop. FIU Library Justin Amash, who was the co-founder of House Freedom Caucus, is the only House Republican to openly support Trump’s impeachment investigation. Amash has announced that he will quit the Republican party after it has become “disenchanted with party politics and frightened by what I see from it.” Amash sees that the republican party especially Donald Trump is behaving and performing impeachable acts and no longer wishes to be associated with the Republican Party. A lot of democratic politicians are in support of Trumps impeachment but it is virtually impossible to find someone credible within the Republican party who also supports the impeachment. With his support for the impeachment announced, there is officially a Republican side to the impeachment as well.

SOCW 6121 Week 9

Week 9: The Middle Stage

Once a group has met several times and is entering the middle stage of group progress, the clinical social worker should assess if the goals of the group plan are being met. This is especially important in groups that have a limited number of sessions. One of the ways a clinical social worker can keep the group on track is by preparing an agenda that parallels the needs of the members. Another way is by implementing strategies that create an atmosphere that feels safe for the members to share their personal stories. By the middle stage, the clinical social worker should have a familiarity with the different personalities in the group. This makes it much easier to implement strategies that empower the members and make them feel that they are received with positive regard.

Learning Objectives

Students will:
  • Analyze the purposes of group types
  • Analyze positive regard in group work
  • Analyze strengths-based strategies
  • Analyze empowerment strategies

Discussion: Positive Regard

Carl Rogers, a humanistic psychologist, believed that individuals must feel accepted for who they are in order to have a high level of self-worth (Farber & Doolin, 2011). Rogers coined the term “positive regard” to explain this concept of feeling accepted. Also, he believed that positive regard is essential to personal growth and self-actualization.

For this Discussion, view the “Johnson” video (Episode 3).

Lisa Dunlavy RE: Discussion – Week 9COLLAPSE

The Johnson video clip introduces a support group for sexual assault survivors. It appears that there is a facilitator and five group members. All members of this support group experienced sexual assault, and Talia is the newest member. Talia Johnson, a 19-year-old junior in college, was recently assaulted at a fraternity party. When she shared with the group, she placed a lot of blame on herself for what happened. In response to Talia, another group member explained that at first she blamed herself for what happened. With some time, this group member came to accept that she was not to blame. In this group, the group members empower each other by sharing their shared experiences and feelings. Tosland and Rivas (2017) explained that the primary goals of support groups include fostering mutual aid, helping members cope with stressful life events, and revitalizing and enhancing members’ coping abilities. Even in this short clip, there is effort being made to reach these goals. The use of empowerment and strengths-based strategies can help members interact, connect, and participate during group sessions.

Positive regard refers to the belief that treating clients with consistent warmth and in a highly regarding manner encourages psychological growth (Farber & Doolin, 2011). With psychological growth, clients can fulfill their potential. The facilitator for the support group used positive regard by responding with acceptance and providing support. According to Farber and Doolin (2011), positive regard can strengthen the client’s ego and belief in his or her capacity to be engaged in an effective relationship. Through positive regard, the facilitator engages in the therapeutic process and emphasizes the group’s purpose.

It’s important to show acceptance and support when Talia voices her skepticism of the usefulness of group sharing. My response doesn’t only make an impact on Talia, but also affects all other members of the group. It may be beneficial to revisit the purpose and goals of the support group, as well as individual goals. Talia can come to recognize that there are shared experiences, purpose, and goals for the group. This can contribute to establishing a comfortable environment for Talia to share.

Assignment: Assessing Group Process 4: Group Project Goals

As a clinical social worker, evaluating the effectiveness of clinical strategies is an expectation of the NASW Code of Ethics (2017). Sometimes, clinical strategies and techniques that are effective in one setting may not work in another situation. It is important to understand what works and what doesn’t.

Also, self-assessment is an integral part of becoming a clinical social worker.

Describe the strategy (assigned in Week 7) you implemented in your Group Project.

  • Describe the process and the level of difficulty/comfort you found in doing this Assignment.
  • Explain how this strategy may or may not have empowered or supported the group.
  • Describe the progress of the group in completing the project/goal.

At this point, the literature review and the advantages and disadvantages should be complete.

Group Process Assignments should integrate course concepts related to group process. Assignments should demonstrate critical thought when applying course material to your group experience. Support ideas in your Assignment with APA citations from this week’s required resources

Journal Hw6

STUDENT’S JOURNAL ENTRY

As I progressed in this class I tried applying what I was learning to the world around me and open my eyes to things I do not see or take for granted. I never really considered myself part of the dominant group as I felt separate from it growing up homeschooled in a Romanian immigrant community. Looking back in retrospection I now that I have benefited from being white in ways I never even realized. By learning how others have struggled to gain access to treatment I never had to think twice about was eye opening.

I look white and have no accent, therefore there is nothing to set me apart from the dominant white culture around me. I never realized I was no different from them in their perspective but also from the perspective of other immigrants and minorities.  I can relate to the struggle to fit in and find a place in society because in my childhood we were different. We had an accent, dressed differently, and were poor.  However, I could not relate to how difficult it is for others to assimilate because as we lost our accents and entered the middle class the dominant group practically invited us in with open arms.

I have opened my eyes to things I’ve never seen and see how much further we have to go to create a truly open and fair society. There is so much injustice around us that I have never seen before and I feel ashamed for my lack of empathy for those around me.

Just to illustrate how blind I was to racism I have a little story. I have a Hispanic girlfriend, she is a Mexican immigrant in fact. Before taking this class she would occasionally express frustration with how she and her family were treated by hospital and school officials in her neighborhood. At the time I processed this as just people having a misunderstanding and that my girlfriend was probably overreacting. However as I started learning what racism in America really looks like, and that its not just hillbillies in pointy hats I began to notice things I never thought about.

I could see how my girlfriend would sometimes get different service in a negative way that was racially motivated. I finally understood why she wanted me to go with her to certain places like the DMV or car dealerships. She has been talked down to by others because see is a Mexican immigrant. As my eyes opened to her plight I saw how different her immigration story was to mine. I asked her about the time she spent in Texas where she said her family was the most mistreated by whites. I understood why she had angst towards the idea of visiting my family in Tennessee because she is somewhat traumatized by her childhood experience of crossing into a new land and being mistreated and seen as a second class person because she was different.

In hindsight I even noticed while taking this class that my treatment has changed because of her. Looking back at dates I have had in previous relationships I would occasionally receive sloppy service but always just assumed it was an overworked waiter, or just a grumpy one. Looking back at my current relationship there has definitely been considerable spike in bad service. I noticed more events where we would receive less attention that I was normally accustomed too. I do not want to over exaggerate, this is not a constant occurrence, however when comparing past relationships to this one there is a real tangible increase in bad service and in the number of times a waiter or waitress would pay less attention to my table than I was use too. The funny thing is that when I brought this up to my girlfriend she said that unlike me she noticed a considerable increase in her level of service since we started dating.

I never noticed this because I thought when people were racist against interracial couples that it would be more vocal and vulgar. I assumed it would be blatant because that is what I thought racism looked like. Now I see that the prejudice that leads to racism is much more intricate and subtle in most people. I think most people casually discriminate in a passive way. That is why most people cannot identify it when it happens all around them. I think in general we need to be more tolerant and understanding. I think we culturally lack compassion and blind ourselves to the plight of others because we assume everyone has the same opportunities we do. I now see that is not the case, and I am glad to be able to apply what I have learned to see the things that used to be unseen by my eyes. I hope to keep these eyes open and hopefully do my part to build the type of society I’d want to live in. One that is as open and fair as can be made, where every person has equal opportunities to build their dreams.

PHI 445 Week 4 Discussion 1

Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the Settings icon above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

The   Effects of Business on Consumers and the Environment: Case Study: Perdue   Farms

This discussion assignment   requires you to submit at least four posts: an initial post, two reply posts   to fellow students in threads other than your own, and a revised post.

Prepare: In preparation for your first post in this discussion,   you will become familiar with the case of Perdue Farms by means of the   material listed under Required Resources (Generally). You will also find more   material under Required Resources (Per Subject Heading) because the specific   task for this discussion is to examine this case with an eye for any one of   the following four subject headings in business ethics: (1) the environment,   (2) advertising, (3) consumer safety and (4) moral responsibility. You must select   one of these subject headings and your selection will be the specific focus   of your work for your discussion. Accordingly, you will be responsible to   complete the readings and videos listed under your chosen subject heading.

Reflect: If you choose the environment subject heading, reflect on   the sheer density of chickens raised at any given time in the Perdue   facilities. The disposal of their discarded remains and their processing for   distribution, either individually and most definitely together, pose a number   of environmental concerns.

If you choose the advertising   subject heading, reflect on how the two videos on Perdue farms present the   sharp contrast between the way the company presents its product and the way   in which it has been discovered to run its chicken farms. Consider whether   this is an example of failure to provide truth in advertising and how you   would support such a stance.

If you choose the consumer safety   subject heading, reflect on the way in which chickens raised in factory farms   risks consumer safety. These might include (a) bacterial contamination, (b)   the effects of antibiotics on the meat that is consumed, or (c) the release   of adrenaline, cortisone, and other chemicals resulting from the acute stress   endured by factory farm animals, which then becomes part of the meat that is   later consumed by humans.

If you choose the moral   responsibility heading, reflect on the stewardship role that may fall upon   humans toward non-human animals. Can we utilize them as mere means to an end   (for entertainment, companionship, or food)? Or do we have special   obligations toward them (e.g., not to mistreat or torture them and to   slaughter them quickly and without stress) because they are sentient beings?

Once you have completed the   indicated readings and videos, reflect on the ethical theories that we have   covered in the discussions thus far and identify one that you want to apply   for your analysis in your discussion post.

Also, reflect on the regulations   (or lack thereof) in the factory farming industry in order to be able to   examine how our nation’s laws affect the operations of the business. You   will need to research the applicable laws on the factory farming industry.

Finally, since Perdue Farms is an   American corporation, reflect on the mixed economic system in the United   States in order to articulate the setting for the operations of factory   farming, and then, be able to analyze the ethical actions of Perdue given   this setting.

Write: In the first part of your initial post, you will need to   introduce the Perdue case within the particular subject heading that you have   chosen. In this introduction, you will also need to (1) articulate the   relevant characteristics of our mixed economic system and (2) present the   regulations for the factory farming industry. These will provide the setting   for you to be able to examine how the nation’s laws affect its operations.

In the second part of your initial   post, present your analysis of the problem in a way that identifies which   entities (Perdue as a corporation, the economic system in the USA, the   regulatory control of the state, or all of these) have a role in the problem   that you have presented. In your analysis, you must assess the negative   effects of the interplay between business activity and one of the following:   the environment, advertising, consumer safety, or corporate social   responsibility. Your focus must be an ethical analysis of this interplay, and   it must be well supported by reliable and/or scholarly sources by clearly   identifying the ethical theory that you are applying in your analysis.

Revise: Read the feedback provided by your professor to your   initial post, either directly to you or to your fellow students. Use this as   an opportunity to learn from your professor, especially with regard to the   best ways to apply the course material and your research to your analysis. On   the basis of what you have learned in this process, post an improved revision   of your initial post that applies the additional knowledge that you have   gained.

Remember that your grade depends   on the quality of your initial and revised responses, not just on the   submission of an attempt at improvement. It is thus to your advantage to post   the best initial post you can and then to also improve that best effort as much   as you can through revision. Taking this process seriously will help you   develop the skills you need to do well on the Final Project.

Requirements for Your Initial   Post:

  • Your initial post should be at least 400 words in        length and have citations and references in APA notation. It should        address the prompt in its entirety. This means that you should not split        your response to the prompt in multiple posts. Your examination should        be both thorough and succinct. This is a combination that demands time        and thought, so give yourself sufficient time to draft and revise.
  • Please be advised that until you post, you will not        see what your fellow students are posting. Once you submit your post,        you will be able to view the posts from your other classmates. You can        then proceed to reply to at least two different threads based on the        required material for this discussion.
  • Your list of references for your initial post should        include the videos and the other required reading material for this        discussion, the Instructor Guidance, and any other announcements        presented to you by your professor. List all the course material that        informed your work in the list of references and cite these too where        appropriate. In addition, your references should include any other        sources that you consult to inform yourself (but not Wikipedia or        similar sources).
  • Your initial post for this discussion should be        submitted no later than the end of Thursday (11:59 pm, U.S. Mountain        time).

Requirements for Replies to Other   Threads:

  • At least two of the four posts required should be in        the form of replies to fellow classmates in threads other than your own.
  • Each of your replies should be at least 200 words        and informed by the course material. As such, the replies must have        citations and references in APA notation. Your list of references for        each reply should include all of the course material that has informed        your reply, in addition to any research that you have obtained on your        own.
  • Your replies should focus on the specific examination        presented by your fellow student, and these should include an        examination of whether or not the characteristics of the ethical theory        and/or economic system were identified well, and whether or not their        application and analysis was also carried out successfully. Providing        such an examination is not an attack on your fellow student but an        attempt to work together with your fellow student toward the better        understanding of the ethical theories employed, as well as their        application.

Requirements for Revising   Your Initial Post:

  • Submit a revision of your initial post by either        replying to your own post, or to the feedback provided to you by your        professor.
  • There is no minimum word requirement for your revised        initial post. But you should always explain the reasons for revising        your post so that it is clear what you are doing. If you are revising        only a few words, or an ethical theory, you should not just submit a        post with vague language such as: “duty ethics works better here” or “I        did not consider the economic system.” It is important to recognize that        no one can read your mind so you need to provide the setting for your        revision (Why? What prompted it? What course material informed you?) ,        and it is important to write in clear language and complete sentences.
  • Your revised initial post is your chance to correct        any oversights or errors in your initial post, or show your improved        understanding of the material and its applications to the case at hand.        You may, for example, come to the realization that another ethical        theory is better than the one that you initially chose. Accordingly,        your revision should indicate that you chose another ethical theory and        an explanation why you find the replacement more suitable. You may also        find the need to revise any relevant portions of your analysis. Or, you        might have realized that your conclusion did not take into account        important factors necessary for your evaluation of the situation.
  • You should maximize the improvement of your initial        post by employing your professor’s feedback as a guide. Keep in mind that you may not always receive direct        feedback from your professor. But your professor will have submitted        feedback in the discussion to other posts. So read your professor’s        feedback whether it is addressed to you directlyor to other fellow        students. This will give you much to think about and apply to your own        post.
  • If your professor or a fellow classmate responds to        your revised initial post, and on this basis, you find good reason to        submit yet another revision, then by all means do so. The more you        improve your initial post, the more you will benefit both in terms of        your learning and most likely your grade.
