Reaction Time & Age Experiment

Reaction time & age experiment

(Reaction Time & Age Experiment)

My research will be designed for age and gender in relation to reaction times for adolescents and young adults. My hypothesis is that the older the participant, the faster the reaction time. I will utilize task 3 for my analysis. The population size will be 200 participants. There will be 100 females and 100 males evenly distributed for ages ranging from 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, and 20-25 (25 in each group). For this assignment, you will participate in an online experiment on reaction time, the link “Please participate in the Online Psychology Laboratory. (http://opl.apa.org/Experiments/ReactionTimeColor.aspx?DayNumber=1&EID=19) Use class ID 6341. Once you have completed the experiment you will need to analyze hypothetical data that I give you and write a research report (7- 10 pages) in APA style consisting of the following sections:

•Title Page

•Abstract

•Introduction

•Method

•Results

•Discussion

•References Just like the Mini Lab Report, you will participate in the online experiment so you know what the experiment is like.

However, you will need to use the data I give you to analyze. You will write the report as if you were the researcher conducting the experiment. You have some options in your research question for this project. The data you are given includes the gender and age of the participants as well as three columns of results data (from 3 tasks). If you have a particular interest and want to modify the data, you have that choice. We will talk about this in Week 4. Careful attention must be paid to APA style as it represents a significant portion of your grade for the paper and is an intended learning outcome for the course. At the end of the term you will submit your completed paper to your assignment folder

Performance of reaction time (RT) tasks was examined in young children and older people to test the hypothesis that the older the participant, the faster the response time. The sample size to conduct this study consisted of 200 participants. There will be 100 females and 100 males evenly distributed for ages ranging from 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, and 20-25 (25 in each group).
