Portfolio Theoretical Perspectives/Events

Portfolio Theoretical Perspectives/Events

(Portfolio Theoretical Perspectives/Events)

A diverse portfolio draws from multiple theoretical perspectives, incorporating Modern Portfolio Theory for risk management and efficient diversification. Events like geopolitical tensions, technological breakthroughs, and economic shifts influence asset valuations. Balancing these perspectives and reacting to events strategically enhances portfolio resilience and potential returns in dynamic markets.

(Portfolio Theoretical Perspectives/Events)

For each of the portfolio submissions, students will choose a real-world event – past or present – (e.g, natural disaster, political, criminal, economic, etc.) and explain that event based on one of the five major theoretical perspectives.  That is, in addition to describing the events, students will provide an analysis of that event from one of each of the five theoretical perspectives listed below.  For example, a submission could include an analysis of a presidential race based on the sociocultural perspective or an analysis of an active shooter incident based on the learning perspective.

  • Biological Perspective
  • Learning Perspective
  • Cognitive Perspective
  • Sociocultural Perspective
  • Psychodynamic Perspective

The portfolio should include all five perspectives and your write-up for each one should be approximately 500 words, although it is fine if it is longer than that.

Portfolio Guidelines/Format

The portfolio should be submitted in a paper folder with clasps in the center. No binders please!  Portfolio submissions must be typed.  Each page within the portfolio should be clearly titled with the theoretical perspective it addresses and the specific real-world event.

Example format:

  1. Theoretical Perspective: Sociocultural

Real-World Event:  2016 Presidential Race

(Below this heading is the write-up describing the event and your analysis based on the theoretical perspective you have chosen.)

  1. Theoretical Perspective: Learning

Real-World Example: San Bernadino Active Shooter Incident

(Below this heading is the write-up describing the event and your analysis based on the theoretical perspective you have chosen.)

Information from sources other than personal life experiences must include citations in APA format.
